I'm using a Mighty Mouse, with the extra top mouse button mapped to Dashboard and the side button mapped to Expose. Is it possible to map a single mouse button to do two simultaneous functions--i.e., go to Spaces and Expose all programs?

I turned on my imac one day, and i tried to launch safari by clicking the left button ( primary button ) and it launched expose (which is configured or the middle button) so i kept clicking and clicking i tried the right button ( secondary ) and it also launched expose. By this time i am getting fusterated. My side button still works and launches spaces but left, right and middle only do what the middle button is configured too. I have tried taking out the batteries putting new ones in , and disconnecting it from bluetooth.
View 11 Replies View RelatedI'm on 10.6.2 and got notified of a few software updates today including the superdrive firmware fix.
Ran the updates and rebooted and then did the superdrive firmware and rebooted.
I have an MS sidewinder mouse that has five mouse buttons all recognized by OS X. For the past year I have used mouse button 4 to launch expose and mouse button 5 to launch spaces.
After these updates Spaces will no longer launch when mapped to any button on the mouse. I've verified that the same button (button 5) works to launch other things such as Expose.
Can anyone else confirm this and is there any kind of fix or workaround to the issue?
I was first going to post this on the Community boards since this is more a geek opinion thing and not a technical thing but I'm putting it here b/c I noticed the Mac OCD thing here, too. Okay, so every once in a while, I decide that some aspect of my interaction with the UI is inefficient and annoying. Usually, its a very minor issue and my attempts to be less inefficient end up becoming ridiculous time wasters. Like my latest attempt to retrain my brain for what I think is "efficient" hot corner assignments:
Upper Left: Show Desktop
Upper Right: All Windows
Lower Left: Dashboard
Lower Right: Spaces
Here's the way I figure it. Show Desktop is the one function that leaves the almost all elements of the UI intact, particularly the menu bar. For me, the most inadvertent activation of hot corner elements is the upper left, because that has the menu elements I reach for most often. With Show Desktop, this matters much less. Spaces and All Windows need to be in adjacent corners for quicker consecutive activation because I use them in combo to move stuff between spaces and applications. The distance between top and bottom is shorter than left and right so these go on the right side. Which leaves Dashboard on the lower left which is good because there's nothing in the lower right corner I reach for on a constant basis. Dashboard widgets are arranged so all of my drag and drop widgets are on the LL corner. Anyway, I've been driving myself nuts with this arrangement because I'm so used to my old assignments that I keep hitting the wrong corners. How long till I get used to it?
My Expos� and Spaces suddenly become sluggish since last night. It had been very smooth since my installation of Snow Leopard but now it is lagging like hell. It seems the problem is spreading as well - Now it even lags when I am scrolling in a stack, and this problem didn't appear last night. I have rebooted, killall'd Dock, removed com.apple.Dock.plist, but still no luck.

I am seeing very slow performance when using spaces and expose in 10.6. I am on a mac mini with the 9400m graphics chip. It worked perfectly in Leopard, and now it runs at what appears to be 1fps. Sometimes it doesn't even seem to animate, it just jerks into place, from starting point to the end. I realize one solution could be "do a fresh install" but that seems like quite the pain at the moment, and is extremely undesirable. The upgrade worked perfectly on my macbook pro with similar specs. Is there anything I can reset or reinstall that might refresh the graphics performance?

View 4 Replies View RelatedI wondered if it is possible to disable the expose and spaces while playing games? My issue is this: I have 4 spaces enabled and set left top corner to activate spaces switch. When I play RTS for example I put mouse in that corner to move the map a bit, but spaces keep activating and Im loosing the game. It annoys the hell out of me, but If I deactivate it from System preferences then I have to assign all over again which software I want to be in what space.
View 1 Replies View RelatedI glanced over the forums but didn't find any similar issues. Basically, Expose, Spotlight and spaces won't respond to any keyboard shortcuts (ie. Pressing F12 doesn't bring up the Dashboard, pressing Fn+F8, F9, F10 doesn't work, F11 won't hide all the windows, Command+Space bar won't invoke the Spotlight search bar, etc). what's really interesting about it is, all of these features are apparently working correctly (ie. Clicking directly on the Spotlight icon will bring up the search bar, using an active corner will perform its Expose function, etc).

The Win7 features "Shake, Peek, Snap" don't sound exactly what I am looking for. And any chance they have a general ZOOM feature like in Leopard when you hold CTRL and the mouse wheel also?
View 8 Replies View Relatedone has a broken scroll wheel,one is perfectly functional,and another is still new in the box.when plugged into my Mac mini the all of them can trigger expose (squeeze) and dashboard (middle button) every time. right click works beautifully.however when i plug them into my MacBook and set it up for spaces (middle button) and expose (squeeze) - neither of the functions work.

the new mouse seems to remove this extremely useful feature.
Can anyone tell me if there is some multi-touch capability in the new mouse that interfaces with Expose.
If not, then this mouse is worthless until Apple puts the feature back in - buttons on the side again or not.
If you use the new mouse, you cannot use expose without having to reach over your keyboard.
As the title says - over time it seems the mouse shortcuts stop working (such as mouse 4 or mouse 5) but the keyboard shortcuts continue to work.
Has anyone experienced this? The only fix is restarted... I tried a sudo killall dock but this doesn't fix it.
So, will there be any way to evoke expose and dashboard on the new mouse? I don't use dashboard that frequently, but I do use expose all the time. So, is there like some sort of multitouch gesture or any way to evoke such functions?

View 4 Replies View RelatedI just sold my iMac and thought i would buy a very over priced but yet wonderful Magic Mouse to make my MacBook experience a little easier. The only thing they is annoying though is I am still using the trackpad for expose. I have found MutliClutch for added gestures but it is very hard to use. Any other suggestions?
The reason i sold my iMac is because my iPad and MacBook are all i need. and i hardly use the Macbook anymore because of the iPad. It was wasted on me keeping it when i never use it.
I just reinstalled SL, and I cannot get spaces to work with mouse buttons. The mouse does work, and spaces works with keyboard keys. I really want it on my mouse though (mouse button #5).
it is NOT an apple mighty, it's a microsoft X5 gaming mouse.
I have spaces assigned to my mouse buttons and one day it stopped working. I assumed my mouse button went bad until I tried another mouse. The button is assigned correctly spaces just doesn't respond to it...sometimes. Sometimes it works find. Has anyone else had this? I'm trying to narrow down if its my system or not.

This is fantastic! Say if you have more than one tab open in safari and you press quit. You know that little box comes up "are you sure you want to quit?" I just discovered that wherever the mouse is on the screen it will move to the quit button, so you don't have to move the mouse to click it. I believe this is the case for other things, empty the trash etc. Its only safari. Have 2 tabs open. Hit command Q.

Unfortunately, all vendors are out-of-stock of this item, and the manufacturer has stopped making it! But...is this REALLY a requirement for the iBook? Can't you also use a two-button USB mouse with the iBook?

View 4 Replies View RelatedI've had issues with this before but now I can't seem to get the scroll button to work for any longer than 10 minutes or so. I have used clean cloth or mousepad to work button so that it works and used spray can air to clean out still...only works for a short time before it stops scrolling up or down. If anyone else has had this issue and solved it, can you let me know how to fix mine? I am feeling like this thing is a piece of junk right now.
