A friend has a phone with a Micro SD card in. It olds photos and music for use in a Mobile phone.
Apparently after connecting to new MacBook to download the photos (via USB cable between phone and MacBook) it cannot be accessed in the phone. Can still read it via the Mac.
I have a 2010 13" MBP, and have just realised that I'm unable to read my Micro SD card when I pop it into a SD card adaptor and attempt to read via the inbuilt SD card slot. It works fine on my XP netbook though.
Has anyone encountered this problem? Is it normal? Is there any way around it?
They have no in-built readers so I have tried as follow - 3 different USB external card readers (1 plug-in and 2 cabled), 2 different cables, 4 different cards (2 of each), and all of their combinations on all USB ports on both computers. All to no avail. Cards won't show neither on desktop, Finder, Disc Utility nor Image Capture. Â Mind you though, SDHC card will be seen by iPhoto (and iPhoto only) if it's plugged directly through the camera or printer/ scanner. Only it's a bit annoying process having to use it just to read the card! Not to mention the use of iPhoto (which I don't, normally) just to transfer images through it to their destination. I work with a lot of images, videos and music, and not having been able to transfer them smoothly makes my work a bit of a nightmare.Â

View 2 Replies View RelatedAs the title says, I have a card reader that works great with a CF card, but the MBP won't recognize an SD card. This is a new problem for me. I also have an express card adapter for SD that won't read the card, either. I have tried 4 different SD cards, and these exact cards have worked for me in the recent past (within the past 2 months). They work fine in the camera. I also tried connecting the camera via usb, which was unsuccessful. I tried blowing air on the cards and the reader. I cannot get the cards to be read on my wife's macbook. This makes no sense to me, as it worked fine the last time I tried. I find it hard to believe that all cards are corrupt, or the cable is the problem because it reads the CF card.

For the past few months, I've tried to restore my iPod Classic because it randomly restarts itself, not to mention moving on the following song during the middle of a song that is already playing. However, it seems iTunes won't restore it. The following message appears every time I try to do this:

But that website simply doesn't help me out. I've taken my iMac to a Genius and he basically said that something is corrupted in OS X. I should mention the fact that programs such as Onyx and Maintenance claim that I am not the admin when in fact, my account is the only account on the computer. The funny thing was that I created a new account and restored the iPod through there, it would work just fine.
So, besides that long explanation of my problem, is there anyway I can fix this without having to resort to placing all my files on an external and installing a clean copy of OS X? Would archiving and installing back to Leopard do the trick?
I have a single processor G5 1.8 running current version of Tiger 10.4.11. I take pictures on my Canon 1D ll and also on a Canon power shot pro 1. When I tried to copy files from my compact flash card to my G5, it corrupted most of the files. When I pull them up, half of the image is distorted or discolored. I am using a cheap non-powered USB 2.0 card reader attached to the high speed USB ports. I have tried all of the ports. My other devices, Keyboard, printer, scanner (all self powered) work fine on the USB ports. I can do the same hookup on my G4 Ibook and it works fine with no problems. I also tried importing directly from the camera into I-photo and had the same problem on the G5.

View 1 Replies View RelatedMy MacBook Pro won't read my 4GB SD card from my camera. I was able to transfer all of my images earlier this afternoon but now it plainly won't show up. I checked Finder, I checked Disk Utility, and nothing. The Nikon software doesn't recognize it either. It's not like I have a whole boatload of photos to transfer (I only have four pics to transfer). Earlier, I installed the software after I ejected the card, but did not put it back in afterwards. Could it have something to do w/ the software I just downloaded?

I have a few SD cards, but when i plug it into my macbook pro 15 in the card is read only. I am unable to write (i.e. move, delete..) frm the SD card. I've tried the lock at both positions both doesnt work. Also, the cards are fine when read on windows.

I suspect the last item is the culprit due to OS incompatibility and I am aware that there is a software program (Paragon) that can read both types of files. But in the meantime, can I recover the photo files using Repair Disk, or whatever? I don't want to lose the files if, by using Repair Disk, I wipe out the contents of the CF card.

I just erased everything off my Mac Pro and reconfigured everything (as new). I installed all my programs, primarily Aperture3 and Photoshop CS5 (using Leopard). I had no problem uploaded some photos into Aperture3 from a thumb drive using the USB port, but when I tried to upload photos from my card reader the MacPro does not recognize the card reader using the same USB port. I figured the problem was a bad card reader.
I tested it on my PC and it recognized the card reader and uploaded all the photos. Also, the card reader's green light turns on when attached to the MacPro, as if it is working and connected but it does not register in Finder or desktop to indicate that the card reader is installed. I even tried to upload directly from my Canon 7D and it also did NOT recognize the camera. Why would the MacPro recognize the thumb drive on the same USB port and not the card reader or the camera?

I have a 32 GB SDHC Card (Class 10) in my Nikon Coolpix S9100. I formatted it in the camera, and now it's read-only on my Mac, and I can't format it so that it is writable. In fact, I have to reboot to my Bootcamp partition (Windows 7) to format it. It works with my Mac then, but as soon as the camera writes to it again, it becomes read-only.Â

When plugging in the USB cable that came witht the camera I got - "The disk you inserted was not recognized by this computer". I've written to Lexar but so far they've been no help. I know the file system for this card is FAT32 which is a PC format. I know this card will work with the Mac...but how is it accomplished?

My iMac mid 2011 does not read the SD Card. In 'System Info' the info abou card reading device tells: 'This computer does not have integrated Apple card reading devices' (something like that, my OS is in Russian).
Worked great a couple of weeks ago, now I have that issue. Is there a way to fix that without changing my iMac's elements?

I've got an 8GB PNY Optima SDHC memory card. My computer would read it fine until up to a couple days ago. The camera that I use the card in can still read it, and all my files are (were) still there, so I'm inclined to believe that the problem is with the computer. I'm completely clueless when it comes to using Macs though, just recently made the switch over. Would anybody be so kind as to give me a hand here? I've tried reformatting the card in my camera, but that didn't change anything.

1. I received a message from Smith Micro about their Internet Cleanup. (They also have something that seems to cut down on excess files on computer hard drives.) It claims that there is malware directed at Macs, contrary to what has traditionally been said, and that their software can prevent harm. Is this something I really want to have? Has anyone had any experience with it? Just wondering.
2. And OWC keeps featuring various items from Alsoft (is ProSoft the same company?) for disk maintenance and recovery. I have Disk Warrior, but I'm not sure whether there's any special reason to own the others, or if the functions they perform could be done even better by other software. I searched for all those items in the CNET forums, and it's my impression that they can cause as many headaches as cures.

When I copy the whole SD card to save on my hard disk, I get an error message saying that the copy cannot proceed because one of the file contains information that cannot be read.
I was told on this group, that changing the structure of the AVCHD folder should not be changed. Can I delete the file that contains a bug ? or will I screw up the AVCHD folder ?Â
I need a bit of info on a device I found in a box of surplus stock... it's an Orange Micro SCSI to Firewire (IEEE1394) model 70HTL00010 - Standard 25-pin SCSI female connector to standard Firewire 6-pin female connector.
I discovered that Orange Micro went belly up a few years ago, and I don't have the instruction manual for the device. There seems to be very little concrete info on the web about that device. What I specifically need to know is the voltage of the power adapter (missing) of this device. From what I gathered, it can run without the adapter, but some SCSI devices will require it...
Any link to a PDF file or just the voltage of the adapter would be very helpful! I was thinking of trying to run a nice SCSI slide scanner through the Firewire port of my G5 with that converter.
