OS X V10.7 Lion :: Specify The Login Items For The Guest Account On Mac?
Mar 30, 2012I would like to be able to configure what applications start when it's logged on using the guest account. For normal accounts you would use the login items option in Users and Groups but this option is not available for the Guest user.Â
I saw this thread from 2010 - [URL] so downloaded the server admin tools for 10.7.2 but the guest account didn't appear in the user list so I presume this has been changed again since Snow Leopard.Â

May 13, 2012Im trying to update to latest version of office on my machin but th einstaller keeps telling me it cant apply the update until i have quit Databse Demon & Sync Services Agent. As far as i can see i have quite all apps except installer so i cant find a way to get out of this cycle.

Mar 31, 2012I got my mail accounts set-up on Mail 5.2 and it's working properly in that I can send and receive mail from three different IMAP accounts. The only problem is that sent mail items are not showing up when I login online to access my mail. I would like everything on my desktop mail account to be exactly the same as what I see online as far as read messages, unread messages and of course, the sent items that I have sent should be logged on the original mail account as well as on my computer.Â
I have already enabled "store sent messages on the server."

Apr 26, 2010Just received my crucial m225 256 GB and installed it today. Let me tell you, it's amazingly fast. Came with updated firmware so I didn't have to do anything. The firmware has Garbage Collection which will do its own garbage collection when the system is idle so there is no need for manually trimming it yourself. This is great for MACs since it doesn't support trim ANYWAYS. I used super duper! to make a carbon copy of my old hard drive and I was set. I just installed windows and I've never seen windows install so quick. It took the normal time to expand the files due to the CD rom speed but once that was done, the install was basically done. I was doing HW and I looked up and the system was already restarting.

At first, it would start ejecting itself for no good reason, and now, it cannot be ejected anymore once plugged in. Jul 4, 2010Any time I try to remove an icon from the dock or an item from the login items and then logout/restart they come right back. It's like OS X is remembering my last login and then just duplicating it. I can't get it to keep it the settings I give it. Google and a quick search of the forums gave me nothing.

Mar 7, 2009My own account login items list in my systems preferences window is limited to one item- an istat menus helper app. But my mac hd/library/StartupItems folder contains two items that I don't recognize and don't think have much to do with starting up the computer. One is a Qmaster folder and another is named RDUSB00A3Startup. Each folder contains a few items, including a unix executable file and a plist file. My mac hd/system/library/StartupItems folder is empty. Can anyone please advise on whether the items in my mac hd/library/StartupItems folder are necessary and if deleting them could affect my computer? I don't use Qmaster and have no idea what the RDUSB00A3Startup folder is for.

Jul 17, 2009So I took an account photo when i recently installed leopard at the start up...when it's creating the account and all of that stuff...
I was messing around with Photo Booth, and clicked the account photo button, and it replaced the old one that i like with a new one...
How can i get my old one back? where was it located? I have made time machine backups, so maybe if i knew where the old photo is stored at, i could retrive it?

May 24, 2012I bought this new MacBook Pro a month ago. When I try logging into my guest account, it froze. I had no other alternative but to get out of it by pressing the power button. Then I tried open a new user account to see if it also has the same problem. Unfortunately it did have the same problem - froze after I logged in. I had done a harddisk check, there seemed to be no problem.

Jun 12, 2008We had a HDD fail on one of our office Mac laptops (a power pc G4). Apple repaired it and I restored all files etc from a backup. I was the administrator during the restore. Before I could get back, the user changed that account to a standard account and changed the name. Now there is no way to change the account back, because there is no admin to authenticate the change. Anything I can do? I am not an advanced computer/Mac person.

Jun 3, 2010I have just lost my user account that I normally use. It happened after I changed my name for my user account in the Finder. I clicked Get Info and changed the name from Helen Andersson to only Helen. and after that nothing is the same and i cant go back either that I know of. When I start the computer now everything that I had on my desktop and in my Itunes, Icalendar, addressbook, and Aperture are not there. I have found them (well at least what i had on my desktop and my itunes but not the other information), so they are still on the computer but I dont know how to get back to my normal user account.
When I check my System preferences Account I only have one account so its not like I made a new one and have two. But I can also see that the one I am using now that has nothing on it is made today.
So please if anyone can help me get my iMac to go back to the old user and all its settings the same way I would very much appreciate it. Because this user has nothing and I have to start everything from scratch even my internet settings I had to download again to be able to go on the internet. This user has nothing.

I'm now going to be working from home so have set up a new user as Work. I've been using an IMAP mail service in Mail on the family user account and I've now set it up on the work account. If I delete the IMAP account from Mail in the family user account, will this delete my mail off the IMAP server so I cannot access it on the wrok user account?

I would like to change this (using some other appleid to separate these accounts from mobileme) so that I don't need to renew my mobileme subscription. From Apple websites, I cannot do this, AppleID cannot be changed if it is a mobileme id.
How can I do? What will happend if my mobileme subscription finished? All accounts will be finished or what else?

Mar 30, 2012I created a new admin account, and now I need to get all folders like Music, Documents, Video etc from old admin account. So, if I loged in as a new admin I see all folders with red sign in the coner and don't have permistion to see them or move. What are my options?Â
I do have Time Machine backup from old admin account, but it also doesn't let me open folders from the new admin.

Apr 10, 2012Working on a 2011 Macbook Pro with 10.7.3.I"ve setup many other macs with the same build and they all have created the mobile account when logging in for the first time, but this one will not allow the mobile account to get created.I'm connected to the line that gives me LAN access. I can log in with my own credencials and that works fine.I suspect it's the way the AD account is setup on the server but I'm not an admin for that. The same account sets up fine on a Windows box. Once I log in for the first time, it goes directly to the desktop. Basicly a local account but no user directory is created. With Fast User Switching turned on I see that it's showing someone elses name there, not the user that I logged in with. i.e. It should show 'joe jones' but it's showing 'fred smith'
Can't get screen grabs because there is no access. Can't show the FInder drives for the same reason, even if I go make the user an admin from a local admin account.I've seen some fixes in the forums but nothing works. I could just give in and create a local account an leave it at that, but that is not a fix
