OS X :: Snow Leopard Finder - No More Contextual Menu Entry
Sep 13, 2009So I found an Automator script that let me compress in the Rar format. I created the correct folders (~/Library/Workflows/Applications/Finder/) and went to see if I could compress just some folders but I have no "More.." contextual menu entry. In Leopard I had it. How am I supposed to use Automator workflows now? Am I alone in not having this entry? I have the 10.6.1 update installed.

Aug 31, 2010how to add a "close tab" command to the control click contextual menu in Safari? (or an extension that would provide this feature) I know that if you control click on the actual tab you get get a different contextual menu that includes the close tab command, but the contextual menu available by clicking on the body of the page does not contain that command. I'm using the track pad on a Macbook Pro and want to be able to close the tab by using the using the trackpad alone without having to shift to the keyboard or move the cursor up to the top of the window to close the tab.

OS X Mavericks :: Customize Share Option In Contextual Menu?
Aug 21, 2014Before I ask this question, I just want to emphasize that I KNOW how easy it is to create a service using automator. I'm not looking to clutter up my contextual menu more than it already is, I would just like to edit/alter an already existing submenu, or simply add a new one like Dropbox does.
I would like to add a share option to my right-click contextual share option for outlook, or whatever app/service I would like to send the file with.
add a share option to the contextual-menu, and possibly delete some I don't use, like flickr or twitter.

Jun 22, 2010I am looking for a contextual menu item for Mac OS X, which allows me to create hardlink(s) for the currently selected file(s) either "here" (at the current directory) or "elsewhere" (filebrowser follows for selecting a target directory).

Sep 21, 2009Please take a quick look at the attached screenshots.
One screenshot shows the contextual menu (Ctrl-click or Right-clik) of the selected png image file on my desktop.
The other screenshot shows the "services" menu (Finder—>Services) for the same file.
I believe that normally the two screenshots should show the exact same set of services available for that file. However, as you can see, the contextual menu is missing one service, namely the mail.app service that attaches the selected file to a new mail message.
How come? This is driving me crazy because the missing service is one I use regularly, and I hate having to dig into the menu structure to find it every time. Right-clicking is just so much faster.
OS X :: Move Item From "More" Section Of Contextual Menu Up To Main Section?
Apr 18, 2009Is it possible to move an item from the "More" section of the Contextual Menu up to the main section? In the attached screen shot you can see an item "Snag Path Unix" at the very bottom. Mar 7, 2008That's what I see when my mouse is over any menu item and when it's not over any menu item. I've lost menu highlight on the menu bar and the contextual menu (via right click on files and folders) My system is running OS 10.5.2. I've already tried fixing disk permissions. It's like my mouse has gone into stealth mode. Interface can no longer detect my cursor is hovering over them. E.g. Hovering over a web link doesn't highlight that it's a link and status bar below doesn't print the url address of that link. Last thing I could remember was telling Opera 9.25 to give me a pop up regarding web cookies. That's when I lost menu highlight.

OS X :I Can't Click On Any Of The Menu Options And Expose Stops Working?
Jul 6, 2009I'm on an older blackbook (2 years old? ca. summer 2007) running Leopard and I'm getting some weird behavior with Finder. When I right click on anything in the dock, i.e., to close a program, the dock locks up, I can't click on any of the menu options, Expose stops working and the alt+tab interface stops working, as if everything is frozen... This caused me to think that Finder was crashing, but then I discovered that when I went up to the menubar at the top, everything "unfroze." The dock went back to normal and was usable, expose works fine and the alt-tab interface works fine too.

Sep 8, 2009Admittedly, I'm one of the not-quite-thinking-straight early adopters of Snow Leopard. I performed an update install & everything went quite well (very fast boot times, etc.) However, my Photoshop CS3 has some weird things happening (all other CS3 apps work fine!). I can open, edit & save images with no probs. But, there are numerous menu options that are grayed out, like "File>Quit"!! In order to quit the app, I have to force quit every time. Also, several other commands in the Path window are grayed out. I have not tried reinstalling SL, since everything else is working perfectly.

Jun 3, 2014I downloaded and installed the OS Maverick's recent 10.9.3 update on my 15" Retina Macbook Pro. However since then I am unable to use certain features, like when I right-click on the Desktop, the menu bar shows only two possible options. I cannot "clean up" the icons on my Desktop anymore. Futhermore, I cannot right-click on some places at all - in Finder for example, nothing happens when I right-click on blank space. Only when I right-click on the icons itself does the menu bar pop up, and that only if the viewing mode is in list, columns, or cover flow (basically not in the "icons" viewing mode).
If I understand correctly instead of showing the possible actions that you can't do in grey, it's simply not showing them at all? Either way it's really ugly, and the usefull clean up application is gone!

Sep 10, 2009So I upgraded to SL. I did a fresh leopard install right before doing my SL upgrade so that I would have a fresh OS. I'm excited about contextual services such as right clicking, convert to spoken word etc. Well I go right click some text and nada. I right click some pictures and nada. Do I have to activate this feature? I've even made my own service with automator and it doesn't pop up either.

OS X :: Tiger To Snow Leopard Options In A System?
Oct 31, 2010In the process of doing clean install from tiger to leopard and I'm running into some issue. 1st attempt - was stuck on initial "Install" screen (After I erased my HD and selected drive to install but before the Install screen changes to show the status of the install remaining) for 35 minutes. I stopped the install and restated.2nd attempt - Finally got to the progress bar, 28 minutes remaining. However, it didn't move from there. I checked the Installer Log and it kept trying to install printer drivers and foreign fonts, but unsuccessful. Finally got an error message stating install was not complete. Restart.3rd. attempt - This time I unchecked printer drivers and fonts. Progress bar stated 18 minutes, now it's down to 17 (after like 10 minutes) and according to the Installer Log I keep getting errors in stuff (Error writing caches to /Volume/...., Input/output error, Failed to enumerate /Volumes/...., Cannot prune("com.apple.user*pictureCache*"). However, according to the progress bar, it keeps moving through the processes, still show 18 minutes now.

Mar 14, 2008I'm not sure why, but there seems to be a void of information regarding changing the menu bar color in Leopard. I've searched here, but seem to find only a single recommendation: MenuShade (which I understand is buggy with Leopard). Most of the other discussion involves changing the transparency of the menu bar, or changing the color of icons in the menu bar.
Two questions:
1) Is there some reason this isn't more commonly discussed? I would think this would be a very common request.

OS X :: Adjusting Leopard Menu Bar Transparency
Jun 11, 2010Well I've gone through a plethora of threads about the leopard menu bar's translucency being annoying, I have yet to find a way to actually make it MORE transparent, so I figured I'll register here and ask away. I'm currently working under Mac OS X 10.5.5, and am working on creating a vector graphics theme of sorts (akin to BattleZone in the 80's) and ran into a snag. What I want to do is take the menu bar on top of the screen and turn it solid green without tinting the text to match the rest of my desktop's theme. Alternatively, making the bar completely black with green text is another option, if possible.
I've so far used LeoColorBar, Leopaque, and Palette, which all can tint the bar, but not make it a solid green. What I want to know is if I can make the menu bar 100% transparent, but keep the text on it visible, allowing me to use LeoColorBar to effectively create a green menu bar, while using Palette to make the menus opaque when dropped down. Here's where I'm currently at in terms of theme, complete with Battlezone background and vector docks through DragThing. How terminal commands that could work, or claims of my insanity for being "that guy who wants that transparent bar harder to see", drop me a reply.
