View 3 RepliesWhat I used to love about my Powerbook G4 is that it's pretty much silent, unless I happen to be burning something, or running several programs at once. However, this appears to be a thing of the past, as I've begun to notice that the fan is now permanently whizzing, and while it's not loud, it's anything but silent. This happens constantly, while I'm running minimal programs, and while my computer is sitting on my desk, not on any soft surfaces.

View 2 Replies View RelatedI have a question about using my new samsung tv as a monitor for my macbook. I have all the cables and such and my TV reads the computer. It actually shows the desktop background, mouse, and the toolbar on the tv...
BUT....when i try and open a program such as safari or itunes it does not display the program on the monitor but rather on my macbook screen. It shows the program open on the tv monitor but it shoots off the screen and then opens on the macbook screen.
Also the mouse disappears from the tv monitor screen on the left side only, and when it does it becomes visible back on the macbook screen! Any tips or suggestions on how to get the programs to show up on the monitor instead of the macbook screen?
I got my LG blu ray burner today, installed it fine and my Mac does recognize it. So I went to FCP and under the File>Share there is the option to burn Blu Ray discs. So I picked my blu ray burner as the drive and about an hour later it asks me to insert the media. So I insert a Blu ray but then it ejects it back out.
I did this about 4 times and then threw in a DVD to see what would happen. To my surprise it looked like it started to do something and the percentage complete went up a little, then it ejects the DVD out and asks for me to put in a dual layered media. I mean the file is no bigger than 2 gigs so my single layer BD-R should be fine. I have heard lots of people talking about Toast 10 to author blu ray's, but the point is why should I spend the money if FCP and compressor should be able to get the job done?
First, let me apologize if this question has been asked a zillion times before. I have searched but failed to find anything that would help me.
I like to build CD's from ITunes. After I burn the CD, I listen to it on my computer...no problem.
However, when I insert the CD in another player to listen...NOTHING!!!!
In the past I have done this and had no problems listening on another device...but all of a sudden I am unable to do. To be honest with you, I don't know anything about MP3 or other code names that everyone talks about.
How do I burn a .dmg file, as well as a .txt file so that it goes on to one disk.
I have tried Toast Titanium, but not sure what I'm doing.
I friend made home DVD for us but must have burnt it wrong as it just opens up the TS folders.
I thought that I could copy the files and then burn the DVD again correctly so that it plays right on a DVD player.
Is there any free or inexpensive software for Mac that'll take a movie and burn it onto a DVD in the right format?
I read Burn works good, but when I burned the movies to DVD they didn't play in my DVD player.[We use playstation 2 as a DVD player and it usually plays alot of DVD's I've burned]
I'm quite new to Mac, and although everything is pretty clear, I haven't yet figured out how to burn a DVD. Everytime I try, it'll give an error 0x8002006E and stop burning.
- Reading is and has always been fine.
- I'm using Philips DVD-R discs.
- I'm on a white 2Ghz MacBook It's supposed to be able to burn DVD-R, right?
I have tried to do it from the finder, and creating a disc image, and burning it from the disk utility.
I have converted two .avi files on my MBP to the .iso file. Then I open up the two files and they become the Audio_TS and Video_TS folders. However, when I try and drag those to Toast, and try to burn the files, Toast always gives me an error. My question, how do correctly convert .avi files to dvd format so I can burn to a blank DVD? I want more than one .avi file converted to dvd format on each DVD.

Or does the software that comes with Mac OS X capable of performing some simple CD-R, CD-RW, DVD-R and DVR-RW burning fuctions. I want to organize some old digital images and want to get them off old CD's onto newer (better quality) DVD's and I may temporarily use some DVD-RW's and do my final burn on DVD's.

so this is the second time it happened and as I do a lot of computer animation, it's starting to get annoying. I accedentally left my ACD on (30") today when i left at 8. when i got home at 5, and opened my computer animation app (blender, which starts out effectevly completely grey). I noticed a vauge impression of the screen i had left the acd on today. This DID happen before, and it goes away after a day or two. Still, it is annoying. My questions: A) is this bad B) what should I do?

I need a quick solution: Need to burn music for my upcoming wedding.
CD/DVD burner works outside of Itunes.
When trying to burn a CD in Itunes it crashes and asks if you would like to restart it.
Not the factory CD: But as stated above does work outside of Itunes.
Music is not locked either
Any Ideas anyone.
P.S Please note I have been told? This could be an issue with Itunes 9.2.1 not liking O/S 10.4.1 can anyone confirm.
Also I am thinking about getting a power G5 Desktop would I have this problem running O/S 10.4 and Itunes 9.2.1
i am new to macs, i have a macbook pro and i am looking for a cd/dvd burning software that can burn audio/mp3 cds, data dvds etc.

Also is there any free program that will do a decent job?.
I have created a DVD slideshow in iDVD but when I burn it to disc the quality of the images is unacceptable. I have tried different solutions from forums but the results with each thing I try don't resolve the problem.
I have created it in iMovie, Share as a quicktime movie onto my desktop, then moved this into iDVD but the results are still poor. I have also tried burning it through Roxio Toast, and a couple of other disc burning programmes. I have tried it with the images as jpeg's and tiff's on different resolutions, and I have made sure the ken burns effect is off.
Basically, I stick in a CD and it just stays there. Usually the computer does the rest, takes it in, you hear a whirring sound and stuff happens. I did it recently and nothing goes on - I have to take the CD out by essentially taking it by the edge that still sticks out.
I then went into the Apple Icon > About This Mac > More Info... > Disc Burning and found that no burning device indicated to be in existence. Clearly I should be able to have something there, right? Any drivers to download? Or should I just do a complete reboot of the system and go from there?
i dont know where my windows xp cd is for my pc so i downloaded it off of a website. however i do still have the paper with serial key so i can install it. the file that i downloaded was a .daa file but i dont know how i am supposed to burn the thing. i have Toast Titanium and burned with the data option and the .iso option but both did not work.

I currently have the 3 Panther install .dmg files on my PC hard drive.

I have tried changing the name to ISO and burning which works BUT when i insert the disk into my mac, the install file has changed from and application to a package which will not open or but from restart!
I noticed that through darker colored windows I can see very faded images of my desktop icons and sometimes other windows on it. I think the still images are burning onto the screen. Is there anyway to keep this from happening, and will the damage already done disappear eventually?

do most people use iTunes for ripping CD's? - I do. - If not, then what and why?
why do people not burn CDs with iTunes (using Toast or Burn instead)? - I use Burn as advised.
Is it better to create .bin/.cue files when ripping and then burning. -why?
Is there a comprehensive Help for Burn anywhere? I need a step by step for most things!! (in the first instance at least)

View 16 Replies View RelatedI was trying to burn a DVD with the Built In MAC DVD Burning App but it had a hard time burning the DVD, but once i tried Toast Titanium 10 it seemed to work much better!
Is this the general consensus, that Toast is much better burning software than the built in Mac Burner ?
I have handbrake and mac the ripper to copy dvds to my computer, but where can I get an app that takes the file and burns it to a DVD so I can watch it with a dvd player.
View 6 Replies View Relatedive been editing a movie in imovie 09 and exported it to idvd for the final touches with the menus and to burn it off,
when you click the burn icon, it says it will take between 5-6hours to do.
the video is 1hr 17mins long. does that time include the burn time which is set at x1 slowest possible.
find some burning software or freeware . Also the software that gives you the specs of your battery and one that tells you about the wi-fi signal if it is strong or weak . And any other free stuff that I should have for the mac..
