I am looking for any positive comments out there for any info for a fellow mac user on how to take this step.. whether you know how to become one or have even done it yourself.
When I switched to ICloud I thought my Apple ID and password would work for Apple store. It turns out they have a different Apple ID at the Apple store with a diferent password that I do not remember. HOw can I make the ICloud Apple ID and password work for all other platforms?
Info: iMac, Mac OS X (10.7.4), 2.4 Ghz Intel Core 2 Duo
i have an apple tv and the universal dock(1st gen), the remote that comes with the apple tv also controls the universal dock, but i want the remote to only control the apple tv not the universal dock, every time i play something in the apple tv my iPhone which is connected to the dock also plays a song.
I recently went to turn on my laptop, and it started up, I heard the hard drive cycle, and it automatically went to a grey apple as the typical startup...but it froze there & a pinwheel was spinning...but it wouldn't boot up! What can I do to check this out?
My Apple ID is in good standing (or else I wouldn't be posting in this community). But when I try to make a purchase in iTunes, it stops me saying that my Apple ID has been disabled..This has been going on all day, so it's not a matter of waiting for the system to update with my new email address (I wouldn't think).I've tried authorizing this computer for iTunes, and it is already authorized. What else should I try?
I know this is kind of off topic and the logo does not make the product any different but I found it a little odd that Apple decided to not to put their logo on the remote. It's made out of aluminum and has enough space on the back for a logo to be present. Apple put's their logo on everything that has enough space for one. The old remote had it, mouse, keyboard, MacBook/MacBook Pro, iMac, Mac mini, Mac Pro, iPod's, iPhone, docks, and gift cards all have it. Their earphones don't have it because they are to small to put a logo without making them look stupid. I wonder what Jonathan Ive and Jobs were thinking when they decided to not put the logo. The back of the remote almost seems bare without it.
I've accidentally set up my iCloud on different accounts on my iPhone and Mac. I suspect this is the reason why my iCal on the phone does not sync with my Mac. How can I change them both to the same account (the one on the Mac needs to be changed)?
I was just wondering what all of your thoughts were regarding these two keyboards. I know I can't get the Wireless Pro new anymore, however I can get it used for $20 from someone I know.
The new aluminum one however, I can get for about $40 used or just buy a new one for $70. I'm looking to buy a used one so it's pretty much the Wireless Pro for $20 vs the Wireless Aluminum for $40.
This will be going towards a set-up with my MBP which will be on an mstand, with an external monitor. I've already gotten the Magic Mouse so I'm trying to find a nice Bluetooth keyboard to compliment it.
Just got home and saw the news about the various updates for Mac Pro, by chance I went to the Apple store looking a Apple Ram upgrades for my 2009 Mac Octo and now they are listing 4GB ram slices.
Now I know I had a beer or two before I went out this evening but I am 100% sure they were not available earlier today, hence my searches involving OCW and Crucial. So official 4GB support now?
Is anyone here using the Apple 512 SSD in their Mac Pro? If so, how do you like it? Any reliability problems? What is Trim I always here about, and does the Apple SSd support it?
I'm new to AppleScript. As a matter of fact I didn't use it before.I'm trying to use this:[URL]/showthread.php?t=85531To show source code in TextMate instead of the basic default Safari viewer. Can someone tell me how to do it step by step? And how to hook it to a shortcut say CMD+U?
I'm thinking of ordering an MBP (17", 2.66) with the 7200 HDD. My idea is to then swap it out for an SSD and put the HDD in an external eSATA case. The case I'm looking at is the Aluratek AHDDS100F. The problem is that this case only provides 2A and the word is that 'some' HDDs need more juice than that to spin up. So, the question is, how can I find out what the BTO HDD in the MBP will be and will its specs be consistent with what the Aluratek offers it?
Im at a point where more drives is not the answer.5+TB is plenty (i need disk archives).I quietly waited for WWDC 2008 Thinking Blu-Ray BANG NOT A WORD.Has ppl had any luck with aftermarket blue ray burnz if so which?
This issue has been bought up b4 but i hoped "WWDC 2008" (wrong)would have changed that so back to the same BS of buying drives
10.6 will be Snow Leopard? There are only 2 big cat names left (Lion and Cougar) but 3 more versions of OS X to go. If 10.7 is Lion and 10.8 is Cougar what will Apple name 10.9 if there are no more names to use?
I'm thinking of signing up for iCloud. I have 2 Apple IDs. I have an iTunes @Mac.com and Mobile me @me.com. If I use the @me.com will I still be able to synch my iTunes across all of my devices.Â
Info: iMac (27-inch Late 2009), Mac OS X (10.7.3), Mac Book Pro iPhone 4
I have a Mac Mini running Lion Server 10.7.3. I am utilizing File Sharing and Screen Sharing to connect from my MacBook to the server. When I try to connect, it works fine if I enter credentials as a Registered User, but I'd like to use my Apple ID instead. Both machines are set up with the same Apple ID. When I try to use my Apple ID to connect, it doesn't work. The login box simply shakes back and forth.
Will Apple pick up my Mac Pro from home to get it repaired or do I have to take it to their store myself? Warranty's over, need a repair but wondering how I'm going to take this juggernaut all the way to the apple store, I live in Yuen Long and there's no apple store nearby. Does apple provide pick up repair service?Â
Walt Mossberg of The Wall Street Journal has given Microsoft's Windows 7 a glowing review, noting that Microsoft's latest operating system is still behind Apple's Mac OS X, but not by much.
A known Apple advocate, Mossberg's positive take on Windows 7 is a big change from Windows XP and Vista, both of which the columnist felt were vastly inferior to Mac OS X.
"In recent years, I, like many other reviewers, have argued that Apple’s Mac OS X operating system is much better than Windows," he said. "That’s no longer true. I still give the Mac OS a slight edge because it has a much easier and cheaper upgrade path; more built-in software programs; and far less vulnerability to viruses and other malicious software, which are overwhelmingly built to run on Windows."
He continued: "Now, however, it’s much more of a toss-up between the two rivals. Windows 7 beats the Mac OS in some areas, such as better previews and navigation right from the taskbar, easier organization of open windows on the desktop and touch-screen capabilities. So Apple will have to scramble now that the gift of a flawed Vista has been replaced with a reliable, elegant version of Windows."
Windows 7 is set to debut on Oct. 22. A Home Premium upgrade will cost $120 ($200 standalone); Professional upgrade will cost $200 ($300 standalone); and Windows 7 Ultimate upgrade will run $220 ($320 standalone).
It's launch follows the debut of Apple's latest operating system, which was released at the end of August. Mossberg said both offerings from the rival companies are more evolutionary than revolutionary.
In his August review of Snow Leopard, Apple's latest operating system upgrade, Mossberg said the upgrade is a decent improvement, but not a "must-have upgrade." He said the $29 product is priced accordingly, because Mac OS X 10.6 is not a "typical Apple lust-provoking product."
In the Windows 7 review, Mossberg drew many parallels between Windows 7 and Snow Leopard. He said the new taskbar is similar to the Mac OS X dock, but improves on the concept in some ways -- namely Aero Peek, which he said is "more natural and versatile" than Snow Leopard's Dock Expose. The Aero Peek feature allows users to mouse over an open window in the preview screen, which makes all other windows on the desktop transparent.
He also praised the new OS for being faster than Windows Vista, nagging users for security concerns less than its predecessor, and offering a wide range of software compatibility.
But there are a few key areas where Windows 7 falls behind Snow Leopard, Mossberg said. For one, Microsoft's OS "still isn't quite as natural" as it is on Mac, though it's an improvement from Vista.
And though Windows 7 is faster, his MacBook Pro still started and restarted faster than most of the PCs he tested. "But the speed gap has narrowed considerably," he said.[ View this article at AppleInsider.com ]
A beautiful, 100% native (Cocoa) image manipulation tool similar to Photoshop. Imagine if Apple bought this, put both Apple developers and the original developers together! They could really slam Photoshop in about a year or two.
Is it possible to download OSX on a non-apple product (i.e. Dell's, ASUS's, etc) I was wondering this. And if you could, is it worth it (no crashes, or any other bugs)?
I just became a mac user recently and loving it. I would just like to give apple feedback on some enhances and recommendations for futher improvement. Can I get a link or e-mail address to send feedback.
I recently accidentally clicked the "minus" button on the "Login Items" screen under preferences, and even though I realized the mistake instantly, I had no way of getting the deleted line back. What make it worse, is that I have no idea what the line was that I deleted. "Undo" obviously didn't work, and because OS X applies changes as you make them, I couldn't simply hit "Cancel" like you can in Windows. This made me realize that Apple design approach to such dialogs, and the decision to apply changes as you go without providing OK or Cancel buttons is a fairly significant usability flaw. It's ironic that they go to extreme safety measures when it comes to file deletions in Finder (requiring a key combination; plus it goes to trash anyway after that), yes it many other areas of the operating system, they've made it way too easy to accidentally delete something.
I'm just wondering if anyone has had the same thought? I pretty much bought my Mac solely for the supposed better use experience, but Apple have me doubting that the user interface is really that much better than Windows (specially now that Windows 7's taken advantage of a lot of OS X features).
ok guys i mentioned this a while ago and having looked into it on my new system there some question over hardware compatability with mac osx if i install it as a hackintosh so i was wondering if there is anyway i can tgrial the os out and check how my hardware copes without having to buy the os first?
So I want to buy a new external hard drive that's portable and fast. The Firewire800 drives that don't require power only go up to about 640GB, and ideally I want a 1TB... Going to BestBuy and shopping online, Firewire seems to officially be dead now (unofficially it's the 5th year of it's death, lol).... and USB 3.0 is all the rage... there seems to be about a 25% surcharge on the 3.0 drives. My hopes are that this week Apple's media event will launch new macbook pro speed bumps andor new features... and my question is this... Since "Pro" usually means high (or at least high-er) end, Apple shouldn't bring another computer to market WITHOUT USB 3.0 or am I not safe to assume that? I know it's been discussed, but trying to decide if I should save the 25%, or just bite the bullet and go for the 3.0... course if I get the 3.0 and the refresh on wednesday doesn't include 3.0 then I'll basically have wasted $$$
