OS X :: Downloading Files To Specific Destinations Depending On Type?

Aug 29, 2009

I was wondering if I have the ability to set my download preferences for my Mac (I'm running Snow Leopard -- just installed it yesterday!) to send certain file types to specific destinations. For example, I want to set up several folders so that when I download a .gif or .jpeg file, it will go into my "Pictures" folder. Also, as I download .pdf files religiously for my academic pursuits (which just so happens to be in the field of religion...), I'd like to make a specific "Articles" folder to have all .pdf files download into it. I hope this makes sense.

OS X :: Wich OS Suits Best For My System

Sep 8, 2009

wich OS will work best on my different Macs? For example I have a 450MHz Cube, didn't use it for quite a while, but want to use it now. Should I install Panther, Tiger or Leopard on it? (No, I don't want to run it an OS 9, a Classic environment might be enough to play Duke Nukem from time to time...; if ever)Then there are two ibooks (1,2 and 1,3GHz) and an Intel iMac (yeah, that one is probably worth trying the snow leopard, though working very stable with Tiger and don't we say "never change a winning team"?).

I was wondering if there was any way to disable it from automounting because I know I can just change which os I want to start up in with the "option" button. If there is a process, could someone be really specific cause I'm still quite new to the mac.

OS X :: Disable Automount For Specific External Drive

Feb 21, 2010

I have an external drive that is permanently hooked-up to my iMac via Firewire. I use this drive only to perform a bootable disk image of my hard drive at regular intervals using the CCC scheduler. The backups are performed only once a week. I would like that this backup drive not be mounted when I or anyone else logs in to the computer. It annoys me to hear the drive turning and vibrating until it spins down and seeing it's icon on the desktop. Is there any way to prevent automount of this particular drive? I know I can dismount it manually using Diskutil, but I want everything to be automated. Any clue as to whether CCC will mount it when needed if it is unmounted?

Software :: External USB Drive Doesn't Automount On Reboot?

Jan 30, 2009

I have a drive connected via USB 2.0 It's newly formatted with 2 partitions. Running 10.5.6 on a macbook.

The drive seems to work fine, the problem is whenever I reboot the two drives don't mount in finder.

When I look in disk utility. I can see the drive listed but the partitions are not.

I have to manually unplug and re insert the drive for it to function correctly.
