MacBook Pro :: How To Display / Show Whole Color Gamut Chart
Jul 9, 2009I was reading that the new 13" Macbook Pro display can display 60% more of the color gamut. See http://www.apple.com/macbookpro/features.html. That page includes a chart showing the color gamut, and a triangular portion of it that the laptop can display. So I started thinking, if a display can only display a portion of the color gamut, then how is it able to display a chart which includes the whole color gamut?

Jun 19, 2012I am working on a MacBook Air (purchased Oct 2009) running Lion. While working in Excel 2011, I encounter the error "Some chart types cannot be combined with other chart types. Please select a different chart type." I am highlighting 46 cells to create a marked line graph. There are no other charts in the file. I called Microsoft support who told me they had not heard of this problem in Excel (only in PowerPoint). I also took it to an Apple Store Genius, who was unable to solve the problem, which is understandable, given that he does not work for Microsoft. Â
I have recopied the data to a new spreadsheet, re-typed all the data to a new spreadsheet, and deleted plist files. When I sent it to a different computer (which was running Excel 2011 and Snow Leopard), I could make the figure but I cannot edit the figure or add data on my laptop.Â

OS X :: Won't Show External Drive / Visible In Disk Utility
Mar 11, 2010My PowerBook G4 crashed and I need data from it. I already had bought an external drive and had begun loading some fotos and music. Now I'm at a friend's Mac, firewired and all, and the external drive (visible in the disk utility) isn't to be found.
I don't want to erase and reformat, obviously, ... can I drag it onto the desktop from the disk utility?
OS X Mavericks :: (10.9.4) Files Show In Disk Utility But Not In Finder
Sep 3, 2014Having trouble with my backup drive. It's a 1TB WD My Passport Ultra.Â
The drive mounts in Finder, but is extremely slow. In Disk Utility, the drive shows the correct disk space usage and number of files; but in Finder it only shows the folders/files at the root level of the drive, and each has a size of zero bytes with no items:
What is happening? How can I access the data (it's obviously still there if DU shows the files) and (possibly) fix this?

MacBook :: Replacing Hard Drive - Nothing Show Up In Disk Utility
Aug 31, 2010The HDD in my wife's black MacBook (2007, I think) won't boot up. I've run Disk Utility and have decided it's pretty much dead. I have a Carbon Copy backup, so the data is fine. I've tried replacing the drive twice now, and the MacBook simply won't "see" the new drives. When I install the drive, nothing shows up in Disk Utility (run either from the install disc or the Carbon Copy backup drive in a USB enclosure).
The new drives are formatted (I even copied the bootable backup to one of them), and the computer sees them just fine if I install them in a USB enclosure and hook them up that way. When I put them in the computer, though, no dice. Her old, corrupted HDD still showed up in Disk Utility when I reinstalled it, but the new drives don't.
OS X V10.7 Lion :: External HDD Doesn't Show Up In Finder But Is Seen In Airport Utility
Mar 9, 2012So, basically, ever since Lion, my external harddrive has had trouble being found while using the USB slot in the Airport Extreme. Anyway, so the HDD can be seen in the Airport Utility under Disks but I actually cannot access it through Finder. I have ticked the boxes to show External Harddrives in Finder and all that, so I am pretty connfused. All I use it for is watching movies off and TV shwos so I can save space on my MacBook Pro. So yeah, no Time Machine stuff which I usally see about this topic Â

OS X :: External Drive And Disks Don't Show On Desktop, Visible In Disk Utility, Can't Burn DVD
Feb 8, 2010Disks I put in the Superdrive, external hard drives, or anything in the USB or Firewire (thumbdrive, etc) -- nothing shows up on the desktop. All are visible in Disk Utility. USB thumbdrives and external hard drives are visible in the sidebar in Finder, but disks are not (only disk utility).
Because of this I can't burn a disk because the disk is not being recognized. In Disk Utility, the external hard drives appear mounted and can be opened in Finder, but why aren't they appearing on my desktop (they used to)?

Apr 29, 2012Have just downloaded Adobe Flash and went to do permissions where I found the file "install_ flash_ player_ osx." and also the icon with "Flash Player" directly underneath.These are listed under the list of drives to select on left side of pane. Is this normal? Do I need to do permissions? On HD?

Mar 2, 2008I have read some complaints about what happens with some big excel benchmark or something but try this one on for size: Making a chart with 6 data points took 1 full minute to make and scrolling down after the thing was rendered, damn near impossible! seriously, Office 97 on a 486 beat this! with the right IO,, a FREE CELL PHNE could beat this! I have a brand new Macbook, smoking fast... Can we sue MS for a defective product?

Apr 20, 2010I'm playing around with the charts in Pages (which are freaking awesome, btw). But I can't figure out how to get a pie chart without the colour purple in it--see some screenshots below. In the first screenshot you'll see the legend under the chart, with untitled purple and blue markers. If I try to delete these markers (see second image), then all the markers will shift, so that the first two are always purple and blue ! Is there a way to get rid of purple and blue altogether? Or just not show the untitled markers? Or does everyone actually like purple? I think it's a pretty horrid colour for a chart.

Dec 7, 2010So I'm creating a chart to show Uk carbon emission targets. I realise that the total percentage will not equal 100% but that's not the point of the chart. Although the data is correct, the figures on the chart itself is not correct. Is there a way that I can override the figures on the chart? If not, how can I make it match the table data but ignore the 100% rule?

Mar 1, 2009Got Numbers 08 installed, never really used it as didn't have a need. Created a spreadsheet the last day with some survey results for a project and saved it.
My spreadsheet looks like:
(A1-Grey) - Sex - Age - Multiple choice question
(Blank-Grey) - Male - 30 - Answer1
(Blank-Grey) - Female - 25 -Answer2
With a blank column on the left that's grey and the top heading thing being grey. Bit lost though with turning say the "Multiple choice question" column into a pie-chart (or any sort of chart tbh). I choose the header and all the 30 or so replies in that column and select chart -> pie-chart. It presents me with a pie-chart "Chart1" with just blue - 100% and the legend stating : blue - Untitled 1. How would I go about making the chart with the data I need? (I know I'm selecting it wrong or have it laid out wrong or something) or editing a chart manually.

I want to create a chart that shows the highest given value for each day (regardless of which hour it occurred) and another chart with the highest given value by hour. In the above sample the chart would show:

02:00am 17.5
I am able to do this in excel very quickly by using a Pivot Chart, but can't seem to figure this out in Numbers.

Feb 20, 2008I'm doing a paper in Office 2008, and need some charts for better visualization. I want to have some graphs showing the numbers of listeners of ten different radio stations by columns.
To provide good labeling I thought about the names of the radio stations under the chart, but horizontally it's quite a mess, vertically is hard to read. So is it possible to orientate the labels diagonally, maybe sixty degrees or see instead of the pre formatted settings of 270 degrees? I couldn't find definite answers via Excel help or even Google. ("excel chart labels orientation").
