Feb 14, 2009I have problems since applying the latest security Update 2009-001 and Java 10.5 Update 3, I have 10.5.6 on the new unibody 2.4ghz and have completely lost the ability to connect to my wireless access point which is an apple airport extreme base station.
I can sometimes se the base station but cannot connect to it and sometimes cannot see it at all. I have three other apple computers at home all less then a year old running the same build of 10.5.6 but have not updated them and they all are fine.
This one was perfect untill I applied the update.
The machine I am having problems with is partitioned with windows 7 beta on it which has no problems connecting to the base station, which indicates that its not a hardware problem but more then likely the update which is causing the problem.
Is there a way to uninstall the last update or delete it? Any one with a similar problem or know how I can fix it, I have googled but cannot seem to find anyone with similar problems.

Can I download the installer to a flash drive and then install it on my eMac? Obviously with an eMac, I am not able to boot and install using a USB flash drive so I used an old iPod with a firewire connection and put the disk image on the iPod. Jan 6, 2009Sometime ago, I installed MAC OSX Tiger 10.4 onto my E Mac (CPU Power PC G4.1.1). It functioned OK for a couple of years, but then began freezing.
We tried to re-install the OSX system from an external DVD drive and although it registered the Install DVD, it would never boot from it. Eventually, we used my son's Mac laptop as a slave and reinstalled.Unfortunately, the computer still freezes randomly. It seems worse when pulling things from the dock (eg: Word files, Firefox etc.) or when pull down menus appear.

PowerPC :: EMac Update?
Feb 14, 2010I'm new to the MAC OS, having migrated over from the PC side. I have an eMac running MAC OSX 10.5.8, with 2GB Ram. I'm having a couple of minor glitches that are driving me insane.
1. My computer always starts with EverNote running full screen. On the Dock, I have clicked the Open on Start up to remove the check mark, yet the next time I start up, there it is again. How do I permanently keep it from running at start up?
2. When I close EverNote, I then find a dialog box from ActionFX Log In that states that "To view this page, you must log in to this area on www.actionfx.com 80". I don't have a log in name or password to enetr. How can I stop this script from running?
3. Every time I start the eMac, the SuperDrive door opens and stays open. After the computer finishes, then I have to manually close the door (F12). Is this normal? Can I not open the tray automatically?
OK, was able to finally get Evernote not to run at startup. Just need to know about the SuperDrive door and the running script.

He had a hard time accessing certain websites, which now that I'm caught up on info about eMacs might due to them no longer being supported by the latest flash and java.The first thing I noticed when he brough it to me is that safari was no longer installed, he tried to update it, ended up trashing it.I tried running the software update to see if it would reinstall that way, no dice. Ended up on oldapps.com and tried reinstalling safari 1.3.2, which I think is that latest version this version of OS X will support. No dice here either, so I ended up going back all the way to safari 1.2(v125), which is the only install that actually worked, initially tried going back to 1.0. The problem is now I can't update this version any further, running software update never finds any updates available and trying any other versions from old apps doesn't work.

I purchased a brand new IMac today, 2.66 ghz, 4 gigs of ram, etc. I purchased a copy of MS Office 2008 along with it as I need it for school. The computer came with an upgrade to Snow Leopard so I installed that first, had no issues. I am now trying to install my copy of Office and it keeps spitting out the CD. I put in a music cd and it played fine.

Apr 28, 2012I can't install updates. When I do and then restart, the screen goes blue and then to the purple space image. It gets stuck there with the arrow cursor and nothing else. (I end up having to turn off the computer manually.) I've tried a safe boot and a disc repair, but to no avail. I'm suspicious the updates aren't installing, because firefox has started doing weird things and refuses to download most files.

Started up from Disk 1, repaired Permissions, ran Disk Repair, which indicated no repairs needed. Removed only peripheral (ADSL modem) & ran Safe Boot; it stalls. Last four lines are.

After restarting every single application that utilizes a SSL certificate from Keychain is prompting me saying that the SSL Certificate has an invalid issuer. This includes SSL certificates from Apple themselves ( mobile me, apple.com etc.. ). Anyone else having this issue or is it just my computer being massively screwy?

Aug 19, 2006Hopefully someone here has an idea what's going on with this machine. I haven't had much trouble with the Macs I've owned, so I don't have a lot of experience with troubleshooting.
I got on my friend's iBook yesterday and noticed she hadn't installed any updates in a while. This is a 500 Mhz G3 iBook running OS X 10.4. So I went through all of the udates and installed everything, and today none of the Apple branded applications will open. iChat, Safari, etc. will bounce a few times on the dock when you click on them, but they won't open. I tried running disk utility but when it opens it says a background process that needs to be running did not start properly and then it crashes and I have to force Disk Utility to quit. My friend doesn't have the original Tiger disks, as the person she bought the computer from just installed Tiger on the computer and kept the disks (I know, I would have advised her against a sale like this if I had known about it).
But anyway, the computer has worked just fine until this last update. Does anyone have an idea what the problem might be or how we might go about fixing it without Disk Utilit?

Feb 21, 2009after install, only get the spinning card- no startup. tried all startup key combinations and zapped PRAM. also ran disc utility and hardware check- hardware is fine all I get is nothing. noticed others reporting problems with the update on another thread, but my mac won't even start up. do not want to have to reinstall OS and 3rd party apps. any suggestions? would it help to take to apple store geniuses- can they somehow bypass the update and get it started up?
