OS X :: 24" IMac Faint Vertical Line Of Pixels On The Screen?
Mar 12, 2009
i noticed a faint vertical line of pixels on the far left of my screen. they weren't black or colored, just faint/dim. i tried switching my desktop background, and the line was still there. i restarted my computer, and the line was still there. i shut down the computer, thinking that i would find the line there in the morning and have to take it to the apple store.
when i turned the computer on the next morning, there was no line. however, later that evening i noticed a reappearance of the line. i restarted the computer and left for a while. when i came back later, i woke the computer from sleep mode, and the line was gone.
there was no line on the computer this morning, although after a couple hours of use, i noticed that two lines had developed on the edge of where i had application windows open -- in this case, both yahoo messenger for mac. curiously, this didn't happen with other windows (finder, safari, etc).
I brought my iMac out of sleep today and noticed that there is a vertical line of broken flashing pixels going down the entire screen. The line is 1pixel thick and stretches from the bottom to the top of the screen.
I have an early 2008 Imac with an Nividia 8800 GS graphics card. It apparently failed two weeks ago, and I just got the machine back after the Apple Store replacing the card. The only graphical glitches I had on the Imac, was the faint line that would run across the screen that you could see on a white background if I left a program's window opened to long; and when using Safari, while encoding a dvd, trying to open up a new tab I would get images of whatever I was encoding in the new safari tab for half a second. Then it would correct itself and bring a blank safari page.
My problem is a screen that is lit but grey, with vertical lines very faint in the background. when connected to a monitor all is well. I have replaced the screen with a second hand one from ebay and it is exactly the same. what is more likely- both screens are duff or is there something obvious i'm missing. i was given the ibook by a friend replaced the harddrive and gave it to my son and it worked for six weeks perfectly until the display suddenly went never to return.
I've had this iMac about a year now, and i have had this problem for a while but thought i'de leave it for abit and see if it heals its self. As sometimes the line is more visible than other times and sometimes it's not even there!
I have 2 pictures which i snapped with my iPhone, so i will link you too them.
The line is not majorly visible, but it is just annoying considering i payed 1000 for this iMac.
My screen had black and white vertical lines pop up over the entire screen then went blank and now at a restart the password then loading spinning circle happens then I get a blank white screen. It's a 27 in Intel iMac that is about 2011/12 purchase
for the last week or so my MBA has been showing a ~3 inch bar running vertically along the middle-left of the display. Until today, the area looked just like blurry pixels (some things like graphics would still appear, so I don't believe the problem is with the pixels themselves). Now the area has become a gray bar of pixels.
I have a vertical line that appears on my screen and it's happened before. I took a screenshot but it doesn't appear? The last time this happened, it was fixed for free but I'm wondering if this is a common issue or is something wrong with my model? Version 10.6.4
i was using my (late 2008) macbook 2.0Ghz when i noticed a vertical Blue Line going across the screen from the top to the bottom. I have uploaded pictures for you guys to see below.MY APPLECARE HAS ENDED!Can someone explain if this is something wrong with the LCD screen itself or the video card or the connector is loose? And if its a software or hardware problem, how to solve it by software? i have quoted asolution. But can someone verify if it works?
I've recently seen that there's a tiny red line, maybe about 1/4 of a inch, on top of my macbook home screen. It doesn't seem to go away. Is there something wrong with it? What is it?
My PB/667 took a fall about 18 mos ago. It's been fine ever since, except there is a single vertical line RIGHT DOWN THE CENTER - top to bottom. It's about two pixels wide and appears to be a bright green/near white color. Any display pixes that fall on this line are not visible.
A coworker suggested that this could be fixed but didn't offer how. Have any of you heard of this sort of issue? Is it fixable?
My macbook air has randomly developed an issue with its display. Occasionally, when t's already running, a grayish/white line runs vertically towards the middle of the screen. It's about an inch thick. The computer will still run as normal, you just can't see the part of the screen being covered by the line. When I restart my mac line goes away. It randomly comes back again and the process starts all over.
I have a 1.83 GHz Intel Core 2 Duo iMac that has developed a vertical yellow line in the display that won't go away even when restarted. It's like a 1 pixel column of dead pixels right in the middle of the screen. I think it's still under warranty. Is this something that can be fixed under the warranty?
My Mid-2012 Macbook Pro has recently started showing a line of dead pixels. Sometimes its there and other-times it goes away. Not sure as to the cause of this.
2.6 Intel Core i7 16GB 1600 MHz DDR3 OS X 10.9.4 750GB Solid State.
Info: MacBook Pro (15-inch Mid 2012), OS X Mavericks (10.9.4)
I have a few stuck pixels on my screen which i know is inevitable, but I've heard these can be fixed with flashing programs. I came across this and was wondering if anyone has had any success or has any insight on this.
[URL] is the link to the pixel flasher thing. I already tried the pressure technique found here [URL]...an-LCD-Monitor but it didn't work, unless I didn't do it right. I didn't want to press too hard.
I use an Intel white iMac 2.0gHz as my primary computer. So far, it has given me no trouble. However, lately I woke the computer to discover a yellow line of dead pixels all the way to the right of the screen. It was discouraging but since the line was out of the way, it wasn't a great deal. However again, later today, I woke the display to find another line running down the middle of the computer. Oh gosh! Anyone know what is going on? Is it the display or the graphics card?
My new 24" 2.93 1tb iMac arrived today after ordering it March 3rd. Everything is great about it except for a cluster (like 8-10) of dead pixels in the upper right of the screen. This bugs me, so I want to the it replaced. My question is how does Apple go about replacing computers? Do I get a new one first then send back the old, so I am not with out a computer for a week? Also do I send everything back with all the accessories or just the physical computer?
I recently got the Core i5 iMac. Basically, while I'm working doing everyday things like browsing, coding, iMovie etc...my screen just freezes and there are squares of white noise pixels scattered everywhere. I can see the mouse cursor as I move but the image is so distorted that I dont know what Im clicking. Restarting the machine fixes the problem.
I made a youtube video so you guys could see what I'm talking about here: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=sVHCn9VSyIA
Anyone think this is a good deal? http://www.amazon.com/Apple-MacBook-MB003LL-Laptop-Processor/dp/B0006HU4DK/ref=pd_bbs_sr_1?ie=UTF8&s=electronics&qid=1227225131&sr=8-1. I bought the Rev B, but had to return it because of 5 dead pixels in the center and the horizontal line issue. I am thinking of saving over $1,000 by getting the above. It is new/in box and from amazon. This is the best deal I have seen. It is even cheaper than the refurb models at apple.com.
I started noticing what I describe as ant-lines running vertically across my late 2009 27" iMac. I am fairly certain that they were not there before but I can't really remember. I did a search and found some discussions regrading video issues and vertical line anomalies but none like what I am seeing. url...It's noticable from a distance of about 2 feet and closer. It's not visible on white or black but midtones is where I see it. It gets really distracting at about 20" and closer, especially in iPhoto when scrolling through photos.Has anyone else seen anything like this and do you guys think I will have any luck getting something like this fixed with a Genius appointment? I do still have AppleCare.
I have been a Mac user for 20 years because their product has been reliable despite the higher cost. Recently a pink verticle line started left side of screen. My extended care has expired. They charged me $49 to talk to tech support who said it was a hardware problem. They said the cost would be mine. I explained how numerous complaints about this issue is on the internet and they should pay for the repair. i have to drive 50 miles to an authorized Mac repair shop. I am disgusted with their product and lack of concern for an ongoing problem. Probably will not buy another Apple product since they care so little about quality anymore.
Info: iMac, Mac OS X (10.7.4), upgraded system last year to 10.7.4
anyone has experienced a wide (2cm) white vertical line on a macbook pro. Screenshots are OK so it's not the GFX but hopefully someone may know if it is likely to be a cable or the actual LCD?
