Apr 6, 2009I have a colleague who is still running 10.2 (yea I know, time to upgrade, but they haven't felt the need for it yet I guess). Anyway, someone changed and forgot, or someone did it to be a jerk, either way they are unable to update any software or even log in. Just wondering how to rest the password. The computer is stuck on the log in screen currently and they can't access anything.

Jun 7, 2012I was working on my computer last night and stepped away. The battery ended up draining all the way. I pluged it back in and couldnot get it to restart. So I left it plugged in all night to recharge the battery. Woke up this morning to a full battery tried to turn it on but nothing happens except the sleep mode light turns on. Black screen and no functions. Pulled the battery to reset it still nothing. Put in a cd to see if it would wake up still nothing.

Mar 5, 2012My mother recently passed away and I've inherited her Mac Pro. She was the official "administrator" and no one knows her password. Is there any way to reset the password without knowing the original password? Or, is there a way to reset the whole laptop to factory settings? I'm not concerned about losing content from the laptop.

Also I have read the Mac website that I need to use the Code: If you don't remember the password and automatic login is turned off, you can reset the administrator password using the Mac OS X User Install disc. Because a user with the Mac OS X install disc can gain unrestricted access to your computer, you should keep the disc in a safe place. To reset the administrator password using the Mac OS X disc:
1. Insert the Mac OS X Install disc and restart the computer.
2. When you hear the startup tone, hold down the C key until you see the spinning gear.
3. When the Installer appears, choose Utilities > Reset Password.
4. Follow the onscreen instructions to change the password.
5. Quit the Installer and restart your computer while holding down the mouse button to eject the disc.
But didn't received any CDs from him so I don't know what version of CD I need it also I am new to macbook so its fully confusing please somebody help me how to reset my password.
