View 1 RepliesI was about to work on this video project on my MBP 13" and realized something. When my Video camera is connected to my Firewire 800 port, I don't have anymore port to connect my External Hard Drive where I want to save my project.
I see that my old Lacie has two Firewire 800 port on its back, can I connect Lacie on my MBP and then connect video camera on Lacie's other Firewire 800 Port?
I do a lot of editing in Final Cut Pro and I was wondering what is the best way to connect two monitors to my Macbook pro (Intel early 2008 non-unibody). How could I make each monitor it's individual monitor and not just stretch it to two. Ultimately, I would like to work with three monitors, two externals and the LCD monitor thats on the MCP.

I know you can get the DVI external dongle but I am wondering if you could hook up two external monitors to the MBA. If anyone has tried this please post with pictures or video.
View 2 Replies View RelatedI currently use a Vista desktop with two 22" LCD monitors. Is there any solution out there that will let me use both of these external monitors with a new MBP? Ideal config would have the MBP in the middle with a 22" LCD on each side of the laptop. would like the dock/title bar on the laptop and be able to move windows over to each of the monitors.
View 5 Replies View RelatedI'm on a Macbook Black running 10.5 (soon to be 10.6!), and currently have an external monitor hooked up via a Mini-DVI-to-VGA adapter. I'm trying to figure out an option for getting an second external up and running. (I do pdf-intensive research, and, well, you know how that goes. I'd hook up 25 monitors if I could--but I'm just setting my sights on a third screen for the time being!) I've done my homework with the search function, but the advice has been conflicting--some threads have made it sound like it can't be done; some others have said a product like DualHead2Go works. And a lot of threads are just plain over my head.

I'm looking to run two extra screens off of my unibody 15" MBP while still using the screen on the notebook itself for intensive video-editing between FCP and the adobe series. I understand the maximum resolution the mini-dvi port can handle is 1920x1200--no problem. Now, does the maximum resolution change at all if I am running two external monitors (one using the mini DVI port and the other using a USB port via VGA/DVI adaptor to USB).
Can the graphics card handle running three screens at once along with FCP,After Effects, and Illustrator? Can the USB port also push 1920x1200? Or does the USB port on the MBP (I understand each adapter can have different capacities) have a different limit? Or is that 1920x1200 limit the maximum a sole mini-DVI cord can push? You might just say, hey buy a 30" ACD and use the usb/mini-dvi ports to run that at an even GREATER resolution. But alas, I cannot afford to do that yet.
I have a MacBook with the Mini-DVI to DVI adapter. I am wondering if it is possible to run dual external monitors.

View 5 Replies View RelatedI am just wondering if the 9600m will be better if I am using a large external monitor or multiple external monitors or will the 9400m be basically the same. The only reason I am not jsut getting the 2.66 version is that I do not want to be tempted to game in college. I will also be getting the employee discount 25% from a friend so the 2.53 will cost about $1720 with tax and applecare and the 2.66 will cost $1920 with tax and applecare. Also I am just wondering for those who do not game or do 3-D editing... how often do you use your 9600m?
View 13 Replies View Relatedi have been a 13" macbook user for over a year and love every moment of it.
I work on large spreadsheets daily with the laptop open and another 19" monitor. I am considering adding another monitor and keeping the laptop closed.
Is such setup possible? Have 2 screens on my desk, plugging the laptop to them, keeping it closed and working solely of the 2 external monitors?
The hardest thing moving away from my 2.4MBP was losing the ability to use two external monitors. Previously I'd been using a Matrox Digital TrippleHead2Go, driving 2 1600x1200 SyncMaster 214T. So I was pretty upset to suddenly be part of the 'Display Port' nightmare that Apple have inflicted upon us. And not just display port, but Mini display port. Anyway, I was glad to see last week that Matrox had everything back in stock again to finally resolve this issue. 'DualHead2Go DP Edition' sounded like the perfect solution, well almost... Of course I needed a mini DP to DP cable on the input side, and since most sensible monitors still use DVI, I needed 2 DP to DVI connector cables.
2 days later the package arrived. My first disappointment was the cables, 70EUR for three 20cm cables. Wow, that's being really mean. Fortunately the kit includes a DP->DP cable of a bit more reasonable length (50cm?) which allowed me to just get the box under the desk. Although of course the 20cm output DP->DVI cables were never going to reach 2 monitors, no matter how I balanced the box. So 2 DVI->DVI cables later and the whole thing was connected. On the software side I didn't bother with the included CD since I wanted to ensure I had the latest drivers - 1.02.01.008. (running on firmware 1.0.38). The software itself was better than my last experience of a head2go product, at least this time I didn't need a windows machine to configure the device! But I did spend some time double checking the specs that my GT330M was actually supported. It seemed only to offer me 800 or 1024 based display resolution. In the end I picked 1024 anyway just to try it, this seemed to trigger the head2go into detecting my actual monitors! although it still took quite some clicking back and forth between the Apple display settings (eventually set to 3200x1200), and the Matrox GXM software.
I'm wondering if it's possible to connect the new iMac 27" to more than one external monitors, like 3. Is it possible? or is it just limited to the Mac Pro?
View 10 Replies View Relatedif there is a way to use multiple external monitors on my MacBook Pro using the single DVI-output provided. I'm considering purchasing a 15" MacBook Pro when the upgraded models are released. I do a lot of coding so I'd like to have at least one external monitor, maybe two. Can an external monitor be configured to portrait mode? That would let me see as much code as possible. Do the MBPs support dual external monitors? What resolution max? I realize that the new models haven't been released yet so it's hard to know for sure. I might just get a 27" iMac for now, then get a 13" MBP later. I'm switching from a 15" Dell.
