When dragging a file into a folder window which is partially off the bottom of the screen, OS X will slide it up so that the whole thing is in view. I can't tell you how many times I've dragged something into the wrong folder because suddenly there's a different folder underneath my cursor. Is there any way to turn this off? It does not suit my workflow at all.
View 4 Replies View RelatedMy system has been locking up the last few days. I see the beach ball and on my istat bar my cpu shows I'm at 190%+ ???Safari is the one program that is open. I have managed to turn off my internet connection so Safari can't be sending or receiving any data ... I hope. Do I have a Virus? How can I force Safari to close? The beach ball prevents me from closing Safari in the usual way. I have very limited access to my iMac Late 2009

My Harddisk space on Mac book pro has run out. When I checked the system info, I can see 80GB are "other", for which I have no idea what they are. Can anyone tell me how to find them & delete to free up more space?

My MB Air is not booting (I get the ever gray Apple logo screen with the spinning wheel, and nothing happens) Following instructions I found online, I tried the disk utility repair disk and permissions and, apparently, there's nothing wrong. Still, the system won't boot!Â
I'm now trying to reinstall Mac OS X Lion, but the system requires about 0.5 GB of additional free disk space to install!Â
Is there anyway I can access the OS terminal screen (command line interface), so I may delete a few files, creating additional disk space?Â

I want all my "work" (excel docs, word docs, etc that I'm working on) to be in one space (Space 1). And I want OmniFocus to be dedicated to Space 2. And Path Finder dedicated to Space 3.
Now -the problem I'm having is if I go to Space 3 and find a file in PF and double-click to open it, it opens in THAT space. I want it to open in Space 1.
Is there a way to make all undefined apps open in Space 1? Or do I have to go setup all my apps to be assigned to Space 1 so this doesn't happen?

I currently use a keyboard protector (Moshi clearguard) on my MBP but after usage, the protector makes the keyboard really ugly to look at. It isn't as "clear" as many people have reviewed. Anyway, when I try using it without the protector, the oil from my fingertips (my fingers feel dry!) seem to make the keys glossy (the nasty kind of glossy)
I realize that I can use the keyboard without the protector, and then scrub it down every week but that seems like a huge hassle.
Is there a way I can make the keys look exactly like they look without the protector and still make it resistant from the gloss from the skin oil?
Maybe apply a small special film on each of the keys? or get some professional coating done on the keys?
The Moshi protector seemed somewhat clear when I first used it but after time, it really isn't clear and makes the keyboard look dirty
I've decided it's about time to reinstall Leopard. It's been just over a year and so I feel it's about time to get that fresh new feel. Only problem is that my superdrive on my macbook is dead. My question is, how can I go about installing Leopard? I have no other macs in the house. Can I do it via remote disc with a PC? I've heard about mounting the disc to an external HDD and booting from that, but my USB ports also seem to be dead, so at the moment eject any external HDD automatically after 10 minutes or so (my poor mac is dying!!). Can I do it via a Firewire external HDD? I dont have one of these, but may be able to get my hands on one. I don't have an external disc drive. So, many problems to block various roots. Right now I'm thinking that doing it via remote disc would be easiest, but I am not sure if this is possible or not?

View 1 Replies View RelatedIs there a list of all the different ways to boot/start up a macbook air? I know the option key allows you to boot from different partitions or drives, and command-R takes you straight to recovery. I've heard of booting directly into single user mode, but can't find the key combination to press, and are there any others? Â

I have just had to replace the keyboard on my son's MBP and it is one of the first C2D ones with the old function key layout on the keyboard. I was not able to get a replacement with the old layout so have one of the later ones. Does anyone know how I can update it to have the newer layout?

so i have been using pc all my life, but now i have a new macbook and ive been downloading a lot of things. the other day an error popped up and said i was running low on disk space... ive been lazy about "reconfiguring my external hard drive for my mac" like the apple employee told me i needed to do, but i decided i should finally do it to free up space on my computer.
i have a seagate external hard drive and i plugged it into my computer and erased everything on it so i could start using it with time machine. after it started backing everything up an error popped up saying that i only have 2.2 MB available.... so on my system preferences i reconfirmed that it says 2.2 MB of 232.9 GB available. this doesnt make any sense because i just wiped my external drive, plus i didnt have much on it to begin with.
so i guess my question is, how do i make that space available?
also, i mainly wanted to back up all of my documents, music, and movies so that i could delete some movies and documents from my computer that i dont need every day and make space for more, but then when i plug my ext hard drive back in to my computer, wont it just mirror my computer with time machine and defeat the purpose of storing things on it because they will just be deleted?
i know im lame, but im really trying to get used to my mac which i know is way easier than im making it out to be.
I am trying to install software updates but cannot as It says that I do not have enough space on my start up disk and I need to clear files from the HD. How I do this, and if I delete them into trash will I loose this information.
