I'm working on a Word document that I have saved to a flash drive. I would like to continue working on it at home (via my MacBook) but I'm not sure how to save it correctly to the flash drive.

I used a new USB flash drive this morning to transfer my pictures to. It showed it was transferring them then the screen went blue and nothing responded. I shut down the computer and unplugged everything but now when I turn the computer back on it shows my home screen and I can see the mouse icon moving around but I am unable to 'click" on any of my programs and get a response.Â

View 1 Replies View RelatedI recently tried to watch videos at The Escapist and was unable to. This has been happening since about Friday last week. I also have found that I am unable to play some flash games. I also found that I can't watch videos at Veoh. I tried to adjust my preferences in the Flash Global Settings Manager to accept third party cookies so that I can do these things. It isn't working. The boxes won't check. Is anybody else having this problem? If so what did you do about it? This problem only occurs on my MacBook. I am still able to do these things on a Windows xp desktop I have in the same house.

The problem I have is with my memory stick Kingston DT Locker which I also use on Windows XP and Windows 7 - I cannot open or save Excel (xls and xlsx) and Word files (doc and docx) from/to the drive Â
I can copy files to the Mac, update them and then copy back to the drive Â
I can open pdf and jpeg files  It is formatted to FAT32Â

I am running Lion 10.7.3 on a 2.8GHz CoreDuo iMac from 2007 and on a Macbok Air 2.13 GHz Core duo from 2010. The iMac has 4GB of RAM the Macbook has 2 GB RAM.Â
I run Microsoft Office 2011 on both machines. For the same file the Macbook operates normally on Word and Excel. The iMac is slow at best and when I try a Save As it hangs for up to 15 minutes brfor letting me change the FIle Name. This effectively makes it unusable.Â
As far as I can tell the set up of Office on both Machines is identical and I have eliminated duplicate Fonts as suggested by some posts but the problem remains. I have checked Activity Monitor and I am not getting any Page Outs so RAM does not appear to be an issue.
just bought a new imac and installed word. I can save my file once, but then I have to change the file name if i want to save it again as it says it is read only.

Word is telling me file is "write protected" and other files tell me I don't have "permission" to save them.
Okay. Ronda is right. I have a MacBook, not Pro. I have tons of harddrive space left. I ran the Repair Disk Permissions. I checked the 'get info' on the harddrive. All permissions in order. I'm away from the office and don't have an external drive to save to, or I'd try that. I'm logged in as the admin. Is my harddrive going south? I have an old version of M.Office. I'm gonna close that and try saving something else to see if it's created a conflict. It really slows the processer down.

I tossed the Word Plist file and that did not work.
I have run Virus Barrier X5 and found a about 10 files with Virus 'W97M/Pinky.B' "Quarantened" them and still have the problem.
The problem started -- I think -- when I was doing heavy editing between Numbers and Word. But I don't think it is related (though who knows at this point). Without these programs I'm rendered pretty useless.

View 23 Replies View RelatedI have a White Macbook which is great and working just fine but i store all my music on my external 'iomega' hard drive. I do this as i move my Macbook about and i don't want to damage the hard drive and loose my music, i know i maybe slightly over careful here but i have a lifetimes worth of music and i want to protect it.
The problem comes when i try and get the music back from the Mac to my Ipod or Iphone as it tells me it can't locate 'some' of my tracks but i plug in the Hard drive and it still say the same.I thought that all my music was stored on my iomega and then when i wanted to update my ipod and iphone i just plug it in but now it's telling me that some tracks can't be located.
When I travel I would generally take a small travel drive that is clone of my white MacBook as a rescue drive.Now that I have the MBA I am wondering if I could just clone my 11.6 MBA to a 64 GB flash drive and then if the worst happened I could reverse clone from the flash drive to the MBA.
View 8 Replies View RelatedWas having Adobe shockwave/flash problems while running Chrome, which is not completely unheard of. Restarted my MacBook Pro (OS X 10.6.8), which included a software update (though I'm not sure exactly what programs were updated). Now Chrome will not run at all. Every time I start, it crashes immediately. Have tried SEVERAL times to trash/download it, but the same version seems to keep appearing in my Applications folder. Have also tried trashing the Library/Application Support/Google/Chrome folder to no avail. Appears back in its place after dragging it to the trash. Â
In addition, Adobe flash videos for Safari and Firefox (which I just downloaded as a tester) also will not work. Each attempt to update Adobe Flash also ends in a crash. And now I've discovered the same for everything Microsoft (Word, Excel, PowerPoint). The program shuts down and the Microsoft error message appears breifly, followed by the same crash "Mircrosoft Word Error Reporting Quit Unexpectedly" box. Â Again, have tried several times to download Chrome & Adobe Flash to no avail. All system updates have been made to date. What to do next?

View 4 Replies View RelatedI recently lost access to my Seagate eSATA HD after my Mac froze up and I had to do a hard shut down of both the Mac and my eSATA drive. When plugged in, OSX says I must initialize the disk before use (Windows says the same thing, but uses the word "format"). I figured out the drive is now in RAW format. I found a nifty little program called Recover My Files, (which cost a cool $69.95, far less than professional data recovery services) and ran a scan on my drive. It found what appears to be all of my files, but it doesn't look quite like what it did on the drive. Several top level directories are gone, and their content folders and files just spread out in the list.
All of this is OK by me, but when I try to save the files to another location, the software says my selected files take up 2.43 TB of space to save! The eSATA drive itself was only a 500 GB hard drive, so I don't know how it could find 2.43 TB to save. And I had only used around 350 GB of space on the drive. I did go through and found it had several duplicates for many of the files, that looked like maybe older versions or temp versions (with a ~ in font of the file name). I'm not sure how all these files could fit on that drive, but maybe I am misunderstanding something. Anyhow, I want just to save the correct files. A) I don't have space for all that stuff, my max to copy to is 500 GB (minus used space), and B) I don't want to have to sort through all of those files to get the one's I need (assuming there are tons of dupes in there).
I have just bought a new desktop iMac to replace my first and original Mac Power PC G4, OS 10.4.11. It has iDVD installed, which no longer comes with the latest iMacs. I have a LaCie external hard drive with just the basic Intego Backup Assistant operating. I'm considering whether to invest in upgrading to Pro, which would allow me to backup the entire hard drive of my old Mac. One of the things that would make up my mind would be whether I could then migrate iDVD to my new iMac, and continue to use it from there?

I have a recent (3 month old) 13 inch MBP with the 512GB SSD. I'm considering a 13 inch MBA with the 256GB NAND flash drive. Obviously I'll have to manage with less storage space, but apart from that, what is the difference between the two drives? Will the newer one in the Air be faster, as it is an Apple custom component rather than an off the shelf part?
I think the new Air is great value, BTW. The SSD in my MBP cost a fortune (but it is really really fast). Also, before anyone says "just keep the MBP", my assistant wants one, so I'll be buying either another MBP or a MBA anyway.
So which is faster MBP with standard 512GB SSD or new MBA with standard 256GB NAND flash?
I have a new Macbook Pro and I also have a sandisk cruzer flash drive. I use a PC at work and when I brought the drive home to do some work on the Mac absolutely nothing happens. Be easy on me. This is my first mac and I am new at this.
View 3 Replies View RelatedMy PNY attache hook 16gb flash drive was working for about 2 hours with my macbook, but I ran into a problem with itunes and was forced to restart my macbook pro. The usb was only plugged in, no files on it, none in transfer. After the restart I pluged the usb back in and it no longer shows up, I tried using "diskutil list" in terminal and it didn't show up. I have tried all the usb ports on my macbook and it still does not show. Did I somehow corrupt the drive so much that it doesn't even register in terminal? Should I try to get a refund? Or, can I fix this some way on a software/firmare level?

View 21 Replies View RelatedI have a Macbook pro (OSX 10.4.11) and all of a sudden it stopped detecting a fairly new Jump/Flash drive that up until now worked fine. The icon doesn't show up on the desktop or in the Macintosh HD window.
The flash drive has "Dane-Elec" printed on it and is 4GB. I've tried it a number of times and nothing. The drive does still work on other computers, and my usb port is working properly with other devices.
The flash drive doesn't seem to show up in System Profiler and my Disk Utility has been "gathering information" for about 5 minutes now." Everything else is working fine with the notebook.
I have a 1gb flash drive that i've connected to my macbook. There are no files on the flash drive yet it shows that there is only 97mb's available on the flash drive.
This is so odd to me, but am sure i'm not the 1st person to come across such a situation.
