MacBook Pro :: Wireless Options With MBP - Internet Cannot Work?

My wireless in my computer sucks! it fades in and out bad while my girls old PC works great sitting right next to me. I am about 30ft way from my router and up a level but it used to work fine, not 1/2 the time it wont even pick up a signal and I have to walk out of my room to get it. After I do that my wireless works just fine, like it is now. But there is no reason why another computer works great right next to mine and mine wont hardly connect to the internet. Some times my wireless says it is connected(the bars on the menu), but my internet wont work still. Like I said if i move closer everything seems to work fine.Do you all think it is the wireless card or something else. I dont want to take my computer some were and get reemed by their prices because I can do the physical part of the wireless card instal myself. Is there any other parts to it if that is the problem?

I have moved and cannot get my Mac to work on the at&t wireless. My wife's PC works fine on it.
At our last home my Mac worked fine on comcasst internet. How do I get it to work on the AT&T wireless?

I have a MacBook Pro and the wireless internet doesn't work unless if the mac is near the router. this problem is only with the mac the wireless internet on my other laptop (a Dell) works fine away from the router. Also this problem has just occured today the internet had been working fine yesterday.

For some reason, my macbook's wireless internet doesn't work at home. It takes hours to load a simple page if it doesn't time out. The wireless works everywhere but at my house which is frustrating when taking it to apple. Other apple products and computers connect to the home wireless perfectly but not this laptop. Apple suggested a reformat, but it did not help.

There may be an easy explanation for this, but for someone who is new to Mac's entirely, it's proving to be difficult. I recently acquired a powerbook g4 15" powerpc 1.5ghz with 1gb ram and 80gb hd. I'm a computer technician at work, go figure, but only for pc's. The wireless works flawlessly on the mac at work, t1 connection. When I arrive home, my wireless is so slow and sometimes doesn't even work.
I have comcast cable internet, which is really fast on my desktop and two pc laptops. So with my comcast, I have their issued cable modem and a linksys wireless router. Any thoughts as to why this is so slow? Takes me like, 5 minutes to load facebook. I have Mac OSX 10.5 +, not sure what exact version. I think 10.5.6? I'm not connected to anyone elses internet and my DNS are the same on my PC.

I really hope someone has an answer to this because this is really annoying. Right now my Macbook is connected to the internet via my wireless router but as soon as I want to load bootcamp and switch to windows 7 I have no internet connection. I have tried to follow this [URL] website in resolving the problem but as soon as I get to STEP 2 I get this message in the window "MMC could not create the snap-in." This message is making me unable to proceed to the other steps and it appears it locked me out so I'm unable to edit anything.

My family owns two MacBooks and an iMac. All of these computers share the same internet (a wireless Bell EWire modem (which probably doesn't tell you much...)). My MacBook and my father's iMac connect easily and have connected to the internet for as long as we have had these computers (a few years). The other MacBook has connected up until a few weeks ago (it is a year younger than my MacBook). A few weeks ago, when the MacBook was closed (put to sleep but not shut down) and reopened, the airport symbol would display a working airport and connection but when I clicked Safari, it would not connect.

I have connected my Aluminium Macbook (2008) to my HDTV via a Mini Display to HD port.This works fine when I mirror the image from my macbook. When I turn off mirror image however (IE effectively having two seperate screens) my internet slows down drastically. In some cases it also disconnects. This issue is resolved by turning on the mirror screen button, or unplugging the cable from the laptop.

For specific reasons, I needed to connect my Synology DS211 NAS to my iMac directly via its ethernet port. I discovered that if I share my wireless internet connection (coming from my cable modem/wireless router) from wireless to ethernet, then the NAS would get the IP stuff it needed to show up. did that, voila, NAS is acting like a glorified external hard drive. BUT, when I did that, I lost all internet connectivity on my iMac. Still have full wireless signal. preferences pane says I'm fully connected to my network with an IP address, but safari always fails to pull up any webpages, saying I'm not connected to the internet.As soon as turn off the ethernet PORT, it all starts working again. And to make it even crazier, I discovered that if I leave sharing my wireless internet via my ethernet port ON, but turn off the ethernet port (in pref pane), I can STILL access the NAS just like before. That makes no sense - I'm sharing my internet via a port I have turned off, but it works? Anyway, why would Iose my airport wireless internet connection when the ethernet port is on - configured manually?

this is a major problem for me. I just installed ubuntu on my mac via boot camp, and I can't find how to set up wireless internet! Once, after installing windows, the same problem occurred. I'm not sure whether this version doesn't support airport (ubuntu v10.04.1) or I need the snow leopard drivers (but I can't because it's a .exe file).

I was watching a show online when I got a black screen. I rebooted to find that it boots straight to the recovery partition. I've tried doing the Reinstall Mac OS X option, as well as Internet recovery. Here's what happens.
Reinstall Mac OS X - When I click to verify my computer's eligibility with Apple it says "An error occurred while preparing the installation. Try running this application again. I have done this probably 30-40 times with the same result.
Internet Recovery - I have performed an internet recovery at least 5 times. Every time it goes off without a hitch. Bar fills all the way up, the computer restarts right back to the recovery partition. If I hold option on boot, the only selectable boot option is "Recovery."
I have cleared NVRAM, used disk utility to verify and repair the HDD multiple times, rand the hardware diagnostics with option+D (long tests everything passed), I completely deleted the OS partition that shows up in disk utility and recreated a partition and tried all these steps over again and still no luck.
Could it be a bad HDD even though the tests passed?

I searched this forum, but couldn't find the direct answer to my question, so please forgive me for posting what I'm sure is a very basic question and something that has been posted here before. I'm getting a new 2009 mac mini tomorrow. I currently run a wireless network via an older Airport express that connects two Macbooks to the internet in a small 2-bedroom apartment. The plan is to make the mini a media center and home network server.With that in mind, is it best to link the mini wirelessly onto my existing wireless network (802.11g)? Or should I get an airport extreme (802.11n) and link that wirelessly to the mini? Or can I run the cable modem directly into the mini and have it function as the wireless router (saving me the expense of buying the airport extreme)?

I have a 2 GHz MacBook3,1 with Intel Core 2 Duo.
My router is 2Wire.
My firewall allows all incoming connections.
My wireless card type is AirPort Extreme (0x14E4, 0x88) -- not sure if that matters.
And of course, I use Leopard.
Anyways, my internet connection has been shaky ever since I bought the computer (January). I always assumed it was my NETGEAR router, because everything worked fine when I was at my university. However, I found out that if I used my computer for too long at the university, my internet went out again.
I just moved to a place that uses 2WIRE as a router, and voila, even though it worked fine for the first day/night, everything went downhill after that.
What internet problems am I having? Here are some examples:Browsers claim I'm not connected to the internet:
Images don't load:Pings don't work:
I already used IceClean to clean up my Mac, as well as Safari specifically. I looked at the DNS servers page for a while (because a few message boards said that clearing up the DNS servers would help things, but only one is listed). I restarted the router. I restarted AirPort.

I'm using a Macbook Pro 17" 5,1 w/ Snow Leopard. For some reason I'm unable to get an internet connection from certain wireless networks. For instance I was away on vacation and when I returned I was no longer able to get internet access through my work's wireless network but I am able to connect and get internet access from my home network and others with no issues.
I've tried removing the stored networks, renewing DHCP, reseting the router and everything else I can think of. I am able to connect to the router, but the indicator light for internet shows red. My coworker on a similar Macbook is able to connect and get internet from the same network just fine.
When looking at the control panel on the router its showing that his Macbook is being assigned a dynamic IP but mine is being assigned a static IP but there isn't any way to control this through the router and since nothing has been changed in terms of the router's configuration I have to assume its something to do with my Macbook as I'm having similar issues with other networks I used to be able to connect to as well. Since I'm able to get online using certain other wireless networks its bloody well confusing.

I have a MacBook Pro that I have had from about 3 years now. It's been great but earlier this week, it wasn't able to connect to the internet here at my school (college). I didn't think too much of it because my schools internet is always spotty and goes down from time to time. Yet when I go on to my computer tonight nothing I do with my airport or computer will get my webpages to say anything other than "Server not found". I tried turning off my airport then back on and reselecting my network because usually that helps. It would say it connected and I would have full bars but still the same error message. I tried again, and when I did it this time, I did it from within the system/network preferences. When I did this, I watched the connection of my airport go red, then I would connect and it would go to yellow saying I had no IP address.
I would then sit and wait and eventually it would fully connect giving me the green go-a-head. But, again when I would open up my internet, I would get the "Sever not found" message. I would then quit my firefox all together and tried again that way and still same massage. I restarted my computer and tried again...nothing. I became more concerned because my roommate could get on the internet just fine and I could use the wireless in my room through my phone. I was consered that now this was a matter with my computer and not just the internet, so to make sure I got out my ethernet cable and hooked it up with my connection in my room.

I have been experiencing severe drops of my internet connection in OSX. I have tried different routers and multiple computers in the house but it's clearly my MBP that randomly looses its internet connection (WLAN stays connected). It's getting really frustrating. Is it possible for me to setup a wireless network/connection from my White Macbook to an Apple TV to share iTunes content WITHOUT a wireless router?
I'm house sitting for a month at Xmas, and they don't have internet in their place (they do, but its one of those wireless dongle things for a laptop)
Don't want Internet, i just want to be able to use my AppleTV i'm getting for xmas for all my media streaming without having to wait till i get my own place a few weeks later!
I have an Airport Express base station but its on a ship coming from London and wont arrive for a few more weeks
Till then looking for a simple (and free) solution

I've been having issues with my wireless. I use my home wireless network as my primary internet connection. I've noticed that I'll be using it without any problems, and then suddenly I notice pages arent loading (or if i'm playing WoW, huge lag spike.) The only way to get it going normal again is to turn the airport off and back on, and let it reconnect. Sometimes that fixes it for the rest of the day, other times I have to do that every 30 minutes. It just depends. I found [URL] but that doesn't seem to be the issue at hand, because my signal never drops, the connection just dies. Anyway of a fix? It's a pain in the ass to have to always turn my wifi on and off.

I'm having an issue with my MacBook Air on my friends wireless router in an apartment that I just moved in to. It is a Belkin N Wireless Router. The internet runs painfully slow. Takes about 1 minute to load a page, and sometimes it does not load at all. The internet and router work fine on my iPhone and another macbook. It just runs slow on my MacBook air. Anything in system preferences or anything I need to change?

Recently my Macbook OS X 10.5.6 has been making the wireless internet in my house stop working. It will happen randomly and I have to unplug my router and modem every time it happens. I know it has to do with the my mac because the other house desktop computers work fine when the mac isn't turned on and not connected to the internet. I've been finding a lot of people have been having the same kind of problem with airport.

A few hours ago the wireless internet on my laptop stopped working. I have turned it off and on again, i have turned our wireless internet off and on again. I have also tested the internet on the other computers in the house (macs and pcs) and it works on all of them. I thought it might somehow be the distance so i've tried using it next to the internet box, still to no avail.
I took the laptop downstairs, came back up and when i sat back down, the internet stopped working on it. I didn't bash it about and i'm always very careful when carrying it around the place. Everything else still works on it.
It is displaying the wifi in the top right with the bars dimmed out and an exlamation mark in front. When i click it, under 'AirPort: On' it says 'Alert: No Internet Connection' and next to it is a triangle with an exclamation mark inside.

Have 2011 13" MacBook Air. I erased my hard drive using cmd-r at startup to enter disk utility. When I restarted, Internet Recovery automatically started to try and connect to my wireless. It never asked for a password. It never connected. Error "-2002F". Tried it again, this time selecting a new network, entering my network name and password. Still will not connect. Have repeated many times. Looked at my access logs on router, it is not connecting.

So here is the issue.. when i first got my macbook, it connected to the wireless internet at my house perfectly and stayed connected. (I had an open wifi account) Then, we got a new router and we wanted to put a password on it so that no one could use our wireless connection without us knowing.
Now my macbook will not connect to the wifi.. It just keeps telling me that the password is invalid. I have a TRENDnet router (TWE-632BRP) but my iphone connects to the wifi fine using the password.

I have a macbook pro that is running Mac OS X Lion. Recently, however, it stopped being able to connect to the internet through my home wireless network. Nothing changed about my macbook or my network/modem/router. Other devices in the house (PC, iphones) are able to connect to the internet via my wireless network, but not my macbook (and, incidentally, neither can my ipad now). If I take my macbook to any other wireless network (coffee shops etc.) it connects to the wireless and I can access the internet without problem. I have tried the online apple chat support feature, we tried a few things (can't remember what exactly) and have also had my internet service provider reset my modem. Nothing has worked.
I've tried various interventions suggested on some message boards here (restarting, resetting modem, deleting and reselecting airport etc.) and nothing has seemed to work. Running network diagnostics comes up with nothing, and it states that there is nothing wrong with the wireless connection or the internet. This is very frustrating, because I can't take it into an apple store (it will most definitely work on their wireless) and it doesn't appear to be related to my ISP (because of the other devices that are able to access the internet). There is something wrong with the communication between MY wireless network and the internet on my macbook.

I am reconfiguring my Time Capsule and see there are two options for securing my wireless network with a password. What is the difference between WPA/WPA2 Personal and WPA2 Personal. Is one more secure than the other? Why are there two options to choose from? These are two options in the drop down menu in Airport Utility.
