Sep 30, 2010i was using my (late 2008) macbook 2.0Ghz when i noticed a vertical Blue Line going across the screen from the top to the bottom. I have uploaded pictures for you guys to see below.MY APPLECARE HAS ENDED!Can someone explain if this is something wrong with the LCD screen itself or the video card or the connector is loose?And if its a software or hardware problem, how to solve it by software? i have quoted asolution. But can someone verify if it works?

Sep 17, 2010while i am using my macbook the screen will suddenly go blue and flash between different blue colors like it is trying to work. sometimes it comes back on but most of the time it stays like that. I have to force shut down with the button and then restart...about half the time it is still flashing blue after the restart and if it does work, it goes blue eventually.
dont know if its a problem with the screen or what because the computer continues to work...if there is a movie on, you can here it in the background and the screen just flashes.

Jul 6, 2012Yesterday a vertical blue line appeared on my Mac display, which can be seen all the time but not when it is turned off.I can't make a screenshot off it, you can't see it on them.My Warranty just ran out one month ago.And I didn't used the imac very often, wasn't much gaming or running it the whole day, just using it for school works.Actually I am very disappointed of Apple, bought my first imac because I thought instead of a PC it would last 4 years at least.

Mar 22, 2010there are two things that the macbook is doing to me. one is that sometimes when i move the screen up or down (the hinge is rather stiff) a white (thin) line flashes across the screen. but recently, while randomly browsing through the internet, the screen almost... i guess faded to a gray screen, but like gradually, and not like a kernel error, like the display just faded away. happened twice in a row, did a battery pull and now wont do it again.

Nov 30, 2014grey screen no apple followed by blue screen with vertical lines. Graphics and logic board replaced <6 months ago. What to do? I held down shift, it gets HOT HOT and makes noises. (for safety mode) followed by a blank grey screen and blue screen. Then tried the other way (I think it's command alt delete? I don't remember) and it turned from grey (no apple symbol) to blue blank. Then third time, grey followed by blue with vertical lines, not blocky clear lines that you can see if you are close to it.

Sep 27, 2009I have a new MacBook Pro (A1286) 2.66Ghz which is just over two weeks old. Whilst watching a video on YouTube a horizontal line appeared across the screen. I tried rebooting, however, the line was still present. I have tried switching between the 9400/9600 and the line is still visible.
The line is still there when I boot the laptop into Windows, does it look like I have a faulty GPU/logicboard on my brand new MacBook?

Sep 3, 2014basically i bought my macbook literally two days ago and it worked perfectly for the first day and it still does except for the fact that there is a mysterious black line on the screen that appeared from nowhere! i have tried restarting it multiple times and i have never touched the screen violently...when i take a screen capture it doesn't show!!! i could swear I've never even touched the screen.

It is only visible when the screen is showing black or another very very dark color, and the line is not visible with the screen off. It isnt something on the screen, as rubbing it does not affect it at all. I cannot post a screenshot of it, because it does not appear in the screenshot (it does on my screen, because the line is there physically, but on other monitors it is not visible).

Mar 21, 2012I see several posts about a line across the screen suddenly appearing. The only advice seems to be to get the computer replaced. I'd like to avoid this, obviously, as it leaves me without a computer and with a lot of work to do reinstalling software on a new one. I have not had any problems with the computer, then I installed the firmware update a few days ago (I think it was an update from February? -- something like an "IOE update"?)
This morning, I closed the monitor and the fan kept running for minutes. I opened it up again and clicked "apple" > Sleep. And the display shut off. But the fan kept on blowing. Finally it shut off. But then it started back up. This happened several times. Finally I shut off the computer. Now, Sleep appears to work fine again.
Then this evening I was browsing Reddit and when I clicked on a link, suddenly a row of pixels went out (see picture). I, at first, thought it was some weird pop up. But it persists through restart, and permission repair, and logging in with different users. I tried playing with new desktop backgrounds. This worked at first, then, for some reason, the computer wasn't accepting new desktop choices. Logging out, then back in fixed the problem. But that is sort of weird too.
Are these issues related? Most important to me right now is this line across the screen. Incidentallly, at first the line was of varying shades of gray. Now it appears to be black.Is there a way that Apple can simply put my current hard drive into a new computer for me? This is a late 2011 macbook pro.

OS X V10.7 Lion :: Grey Line Screen On Screen Sharing Virtual Display?
Mar 10, 2012Whenever I try to use Screen Sharing to control this one particular Mac Mini, and someone else is using the mini, and I pick "Connect to Virtual Display", I get dropped to a grey linen screen. Like the login screen, but without a list of usernames or anything. There it sits. Here is what I see in the console of the mac mini when I try and use a virtual display from the other machine:

Nov 7, 2010 now 8 months old macbook unibody (6,1) has a line missing in the lcd panel. Will apple replace it?
I really think it's a display issue. I've done the usuall supects (pram,reformat,repair premissions and everything).
And sometimes I get white boxes in the screen, but it passes the hardware test.
I've posted an screenshot with the line that's missing painted in red.
Edit: An screenshot of the mystery white box Edit2: Found out what is the problem of the lcd, it's one of that two polarizing filters that has fallen a little. Still not sure if apple will cover it

Then today I go to the local apple dealer (in Denmark) and I see the exact same bright line on the MBA screen in the shop. I also checked a unibody Macbook, a white Macbook, and an 24" iMac. None of these screens had the problem - it was only the Air. So now I wonder: is this a feature of the MBA, or was I right in returning it because of this.
