I recently replaced the HD in my MacBook Pro. Just after, I retrieved my old files from the Time Machine backup, which I made just before the replacement. During the first sync of my iPhone via iTunes and while I was trying to sync my contacts I saw the message "iTunes could not sync contacts to iPhone because an error occurred while committing data". After that, I lost my iPhone contacts (I have them only from iCloud). The only problem is contacts, all the others (Calendars, Apps) are normally syncing.

iTunes sees calendars we have set up in the office (those being shared, coming from iCal Server - Lion), but it will not sync that data to our iphones. I tried this at home where I have my personal computer's client iCal app get calendar data from our work server. It won't sync that either, though iTunes does see (in the sync list) the calendars.
View 4 Replies View RelatedI am using OS X 10.9.4 on a MacBook Pro. When I launch the Calendar app (Version 7.0 (1841.1)), I don't see any of my event. I have to go to the Window menu and click Calendar. The app crashes pretty often. Can I reinstall it without losing my calendar data?

How do I partition my external hard drive without losing the data already on it? I've been using it with Time Machine on my old computer, but want to use it as a regular drag-and-drop type back up on my new computer. Is there any way to basically split the hard drive so I can still access the Time Machine backups on my old computer, but also be able to use it with my new mac?

I know there are already a ton of threads like this one out there, I was just getting a lot of conflicting data from them, and didn't really want to screw this up... Well here's the problem. My HDD is currently divided into two partitions, I am trying to shrink the 2nd partition, and expand the 1st without losing the data on my 2nd partition. Is this Possible?
I've tried VolumeWorks 1.5 from a bootable DVD but for some reason when I open it and select my hard drive, the left column where a list of my partitions should be is blank, and all the buttons on the bottom are blanked out except "close" and "rebuild".
I was going to try booting from CD and running disk utility to accomplish this, but most of the stuff I've read says that shrinking a partition with DU will erase the data. ?
How to acheive this with leopard?
View 1 Replies View RelatedI have a Macbook Pro with OS X Lion. I want to reinstall Lion without losing my data. I dont have a TimeMachine or backup hard disk. Can the Command+R option with Reinstall thing will wipe my data ? Is there a way so i can have a fresh OS X Lion and and preserve my files ?

Well my Mac has been running slower and slower and I believe it's just about time for a clean install of OS X. Now this will be the first time I have to do this on a Mac so I don't want to jump in without some insight on some things.
First, is there any way I can keep my installed programs, and what (besides the Applications folder) should I back up for this? I'm thinking iWork, MainStage, and a couple of other large programs that I honestly don't want to lose configurations in or redownload (MainStage took me 3 days). I heard there's a way to restore just the operating system without affecting any user data. By the way I'm running the latest iteration of Lion and have a full (tested working) Time Machine backup running as well.

I cannot sync my old ipod into my new computer without losing the music from my ipod. I want my music from my ipod to be transferred onto my new computer.
View 1 Replies View Relatedi have an external drive that's 1TB that i use for all sorts of things but Time Machine as well.having read that the time machine backup tends to increase over time i'd like to make a partition for it, just like others have done in topics i've read.
the question is this, can i make a sub-partition of, say 100GB using disk utility or something but not lose data from my drive?
I'm just trying to make 2 partitions, one on my iMac, and one on my external usb drive. I don't want to lose any information though.I've read an article, there is a way to do it in diskutility but its all command line stuff, I don't feel comfortable with doing that in case I mess something up.
another method I guess is iPartition 3 for leopard. Don't know if this is any good though. Is there any free way to just create these partitions maybe with a GUI ?
So I've recently purchased a late 2013 27 inch iMac i7, 32gb ram, and for some weird reason my tracks don't stay synchronized. I always synchronize my videos, 2 tracks, in the beginning but for some odd reason it ends up out of sync towards the end. I tried the detach audio enter realtime method, it worked temporarily but it went back to the weird sync issue.Â

I used Macthe Ripper to rip my sons chuggington dvd to my macbook pro, then i used handbrake to convert it, i managed to copy the converted file to my itunes library, but when i symc my iphone 3gs, it says it won't copy the file because it can't be played on my iphone.Several forums mention using the iphone/ipod touch preset when converting in Hnadbrake, now i may be a numpty, but i cant find this preset anywhere?! The closest thing i can see is an apple button/setting.when i selected apple and told it to play again, it said it would overwrite the prev converted verison. It took hours to convert the first time, if I do this, will it really work? Or will I waste another 3 hours?!

Is there anybody that has gone from Tiger to Snow Leopard and did this as an upgrade? Did all your music and pictures remain on your HD? Is it even possible to do it this way?
When I put my snow leopard disc in my computer, it has 1 option which says: Install Mac OSX and if I press that it says, press continue to restart your computer and installation will begin (or something like that). It's not clear to me if it's gonna erase my harddrive or not.
I would never opened a topic like this if I had not a similar experience with expanding 'dmg' in the past!
A truly bad experience! It is supposed that using 'disk utility' I can resize-expand-make bigger any dmg file. Every time I tried it, it was a totally fail process. The 'disk image' dmg did not resized at all.
I do not know why, it just happened to me many times.
Does anyone had similar experience? Any solution to this? So if I have a dmg that need to be bigger, I create a new one from scratch and I copy paste files from the old dmg.I need to do the same with hard disk partitions, using disk utility once again. I need to resize my hard disk partitions.Does this process works well as it should be, or it is a bad-implemented feature?
i want to upgrade my snow leopard to lion without losing any data, application, or others, i don't have external hard disk so is there any way to do it without backing up?

migrate my music to another computer, but I'm afraid of losing what I have checked and unchecked in "music" library. So let me explain a little more, not a created playlist or smart playlist. If you were to go through every single song you have and uncheck what you don't listen to this is the "master list" I'm referring to.
View 4 Replies View RelatedI unfortunately lost my whole itunes library that was on an external hard drive. I was able to download my music and apps stored in icloud. View 1 Replies View RelatedIf I can't resist and buy the 11" air I'll have the air, a 15" i7 MBP, and a 27" iMac. Assuming I keep them all and use them for different reasons, how do I keep my data sync'ed between them all. Clearly I can't keep as much on the air, but I have a basic data set of docs (office type stuff, some graphics, some programming) that I'd like to be the same on all the machines.
View 24 Replies View RelatedOk I have a Mac Pro and Macbook Pro here and I'd like to do the following:
1. Have some way to sync contacts between the MP and MBP, my iPhone syncs with the Mac Pro.
2. Sync files, namely the mail folder, documents, iTunes etc.
Now for No. 2 CCC with its addon might be ok, but is there any other ways?
I am NOT buying mobile me, as its twice as much as Im willing to pay for a hosting service!
So any options?
I forgot the password when i encrypt my external hard disk .
Is there any method i can do to remove my password without lose the data .
Since the MacBook Air has limited hard drive space, I'm wondering - Would it be possible to "sync" things like music, photos, videos, etc. - like I can with my iPhone? I'm thinking I could sync the MacBook Air with my desktop, and take with me only the photos/music/etc that I want to travel with.
View 6 Replies View RelatedHow do I sync my iphone to a new macbook pro?
Basically all my songs, apps, photos, etc that is on my phone will be erased if I sync it with the new Itunes on my new computer.
I just bought a brandnew imac and like to buy a Mac air If can share data between two computers, since I am traveling a lot.
Is there any efficient way I can sync and share large data between two computers?

I transferred all my music to this computer, and also authorized it. Whenever I hook up my iPhone to my computer, it appears in iTunes and the iPhone sync page opens, but when I push "sync" nothing happens. Why does my phone not sync to my iTunes now?
