I got a new ssd ffor xmas and I have already backed up every single one of my files through time machine. (On to my 2tb wd elements). View 2 RepliesWas in the middle of installing adobe master collection and it froze. I restarted my machine but cant find the install file. I was using the assistant manager does this mean i need to download the whole thing again or is in in a cache memory folder? Some of the applications have installed and some are have not. What is the best way to clean this up? Do I delete all the files and start again?Is there a cache folder with a file i can click to continue the download?

I have a external hard drive, but i get the "error code 0" thing when I try and move it over, which now i know is because its in a FAT32 format....

I have Outlook 2011 for Mac on iMac - tried to copy Outlook.pst from PC to my docs on iMac. The file is 6.2gp - after a two-hour transfer time, the system displayed error code-8084 and showed my transfer had not taken place. I am copying this file so that I may import outlook.pst into my outlook for Mac. What is the error code and how can I eliminate this problem?
View 1 Replies View RelatedI have a USB 2.0 hard drive that I have been using to back up movie files. It has let me transfer files from my Macbook Pro HD to it hundreds of times without any problems.
I have this .mkv file that keeps giving me an error when I try to transfer it to my external. I get "Sorry, the operation could not be completed because an unexpected error occurred. (Error code 0)".
I have transferred plenty of .mkv files to my external with no problems. All other files work fine when I transfer them. It will let me move my .mkv file around my Macbook Pro's internal hard drive but it won't let me transfer it to the external.
All of my accounting for the past 10 years are in Quick Books 6.0. I have to transfer everything to Quick Books 2009. I backed Quick Books 6.0 onto a jump drive. I have upgraded my old computer with OS 9.2.2 to a imac with OS 10.5.6. When I attempt to transfer the data from my jump drive, I receive the following message:
Backup: cannot execute binary file
It also says under "kind": unix executable file
I called Intuit and they could not help, they said it was a Mac problem. I called Mac, they said it was an Intuit problem.
I'm reloading my computer to clean it up. I also got a lot of good apps on my comp that I want to preserve. After downloading apps, I delete the installation files to preserve memory. After putting my apps on a USB drive, will they work on my reloaded MAC without the installation? Some apps have been payed for and registered also, will they now work?
View 2 Replies View RelatedI am transferring my DVDs to my MBP using Handbrake. A lot of my DVDs have been recordings from my dvd player (like football matches etc ) so they have chapters which is a pain. Is there a way I can remove the chapters so I just have one movie/TV file only.
Oh one last thing?? is it normally slow?
To play wmv files I downloaded Windows Media Player for Mac. It came in a .bin file. Which I extracted using unarchiver it produces a .sitx file. Which I again tried extracting but it shows an error saying this file cannot be extracted with this program. I downloaded WMP from two three sources but got the same file so same issues. And I don't prefer flip4mac as everytime you try and play a video it starts importing which takes time.

Am I missing any carbon library? I've never installed such thing so I guess I lack this kind of library and i don't know the correct one to install or how to.
I've made a movie project in iMovie 7, but it's taken 3GB of space on my hard drive and I am lacking space right now, so I need to move it out onto a external hard drive. I'd like to be able to recreate/edit the movie project on another computer.
How can I do this?

View 3 Replies View RelatedI am trying to install Win 7 through Boot Camp, everytime it gets to installing at 1% I get an error message. Windows cannot installed required files. Files missing or Corrupt 0x80070570. What I've tried:
- Using 32 Bit instead of 64 Bit Windows
- Burning both at low speeds (Disk Utilities and IMGBurn)
- Tried installing XP then doing an upgrade to Win 7, but only have XP Upgrade and eject key doesn't work during installation when prompted for older version verification.
Anyone experinced or heard of this before?
I am trying to follow the following guide to do a triple boot, but I am stuck in Windows 7 installation
triple boot snow leopard, windows 7, & ubuntu
I have done the following:
1. Did a clean installation of OS X Snow Leopard on hard drive (Not yet partitioned the hard drive)
2. Installed rEFIt
I am not sure what the poster means by making sure it works by pressing the option button. I am assuming it means that I will be able to see the options I can choose when I press option? (I do see options to pick either "Hard Drive" or whatever disc in the DVD)
3. Partitioned 30 GB (or was it 40 GB? x.x I forgot sorry) space in Boot Camp Assistant for Windows installation. Chose the option to install Windows later.
4. Inserted OS X Snow Leopard installation disc and boot from there.
5. Opened up the Disk Utility and partitioned a hard drive (called Hard Drive_2) via the Partition section as instructed by the guide. Formatted in MAc OS Extended (Journaled)
So now, in that area I see "Hard Drive", "Hard Drive_2" and "BOOT CAMP" (so I am assuming that is what the poster meant by "3 partitions".
6. Restarted the computer with Windows installation disc.
Problems occur right here:
Problem 1: I do not see anything called "C something" as the poster said. But I do see something called "Boot Camp"
Problem 2: All the partitions that are available says that "Windows 7 can't be installed". So my question is am I supposed to "delete" a specific partition to install it?
I have pictures of the screen which I will upload later if this isn't clear enough.
Since there are no more restore discs included with MBPs I have attempted to use a USB kit but, when I try to transfer I get "error 254". The Samsung 830 shows up but, no dice.

I bought a UMB this past November and love it except I fell victim to the poor screen quality. I am very impressed with the new notebook lineup. It seems like they are now what they should have been in the first place. I am attempting to sell it and purchase a new MBP. I think I will go with the 15" since the larger screen is more affordable and would be worth it to me.
Now, if I get the new machine, what is the best way to transfer my files such as iTunes and iPhoto libraries, etc? I use Time Machine. I don't want to simply transfer all of my files and settings... I want to be somewhat selective as in I don't want older clutter on my new machine. So do I just plug my external hard drive with my time machine backup and I can pick what I want or do I just drag what I want saved to my external HD and drag them onto the new machine.
I have already received some help from macdog about my future mac HD, but I was wondering about transfering some data from my pc. I am only wanting to transfer a couple gigs of videos, but I don't know the best way to do it. I wanted to try and copy over my itunes music and stats from my PC. I wanted to try and keep all my playlists, ratings, playcounts, etc. as well as all my songs. I'm wondering if there is a best way to do this? Also, is there a good way to keep a library synced between the PC and Mac? Or will that be way too much work.
Also, I synced up my gmail to work the Mac mail program, only problem is that it put all my email from Gmail in the new folder. Every piece of mail that was archived in Gmail is now showing up in the new folder.
Lastly, is there any site or blog that highlights all the great things one can do with a Mac. I feel like I need a quick tutorial on the good free programs to get as well as little shortcuts that will save time.
How easy is it if I have photos saved on my PC and stored on USB to get them on a Macbook Air?

My old mac's backlight has died and the only way to use it is to link it up to my tv.
I have tried using the Migration assistant via WI-FI and ethernet cable and both haven't worked.
I'm considering taking the hard drive out of the mac and using it as an external hard drive. There are a couple of programs i've tried to download but dont work and i'd really like my firefox settings back!
I was also wondering if i was able to take the RAM from the old mac and install it in the new mac?

WE have a external hard drive case for the old macbook hard drive and I am looking for a "quick" way to transfer all the files to his new computer from this
Some of the files are gone and we are guessing that is the heat damage and want to get the rest off ASAP

I have 2 laptops and 2 questions!
One is a one year old MacBook Pro (2.66 intel duo) with 200GB HD, OSX Leopard and lots of data I need to transfer to my second laptop (a Powerbook G4 PowerPC 1.67 with OSX Tiger and a 100GB) I am planning on upgrading my MacBook Pro with a 500GB and moving the 200GB to my Powerbook so my question is: If I remove the 200GB from the MacBook and install it in the Powerbook, when I turn the Powerbook on, will Leopard boot up normally with all my data available? Or will the computer ask for the HD to be formatted and will I lose all my data?
