MacBook Pro :: Running OS X Lion On Startup Disk Is Full?
Feb 21, 2012
I am running OS X Lion on my startup disk is full. I checked my storage in the about this mac window. 49.72GB of my HD space is taken up by Other. Also in Disk Utility under the partition almost the entire rectangle is light blue. I am worried that my MacBook is to old to run the software. I use my machine to run Adobe CS4. The error turns up when I run Photoshop so I am unable to run the program at all.

I keep getting error messages saying my startup disk is full, so I delete a bunch of things, look in about this Mac, it says I have multiple GB available and then over time they disappear and I get the error message again. earlier today I had 8 GB, they all disappeared, so I deleted a big iphoto album and got a new 13 GB, now 45 minutes later it is down to 10GB....

My MacBook Pro gets a message when I first start up on my log in page. When I then go to log in i just get a blank grey screen. Any clues as to what I can do. I've been downloading quite a lot of TV shows recently from ITunes and was going to move them to a external HD but I cant see anything.

Something is going bad with my computer. Recently I have been getting the startup disk is almost full, but it is not. I have over a gig left and have tossed a bunch of stuff. I feel it was an email or something that was downloaded that is causing it to eat up all the memory. I have also done the Disk Utility and fixed it a couple times in a row. what is happening or what I can do to put my finger on it?

I just got a message that my startup disk is full. It happened while I was importing some videos. I do have a lot of videos on there. It's my daughter's macbook, but I use it for video editing. Is the startup disk the hard drive on these things? I'm not completely used to Macs yet, I was planning on deleting some of the older video files that are no longer needed, but should my daughter delete photos, etc. too?

The disk utility shows only 262 MB of free space available. I have 44 GB of space occupied by the "other" category. What is in this category and how can I free up some space? I can't even download necessary updates because I have no space left!

My startup disk is full, and can't even get in to anything to delete stuff, how can I get in and move things to my external hard drive (which is what I was doing when it somehow became full)? All that happens is I reset the computer, when I turn it on it says the start up disk is full, I put in my password and the screen just stays grey. I also noticed before I started moving things that the "other" storage of my 60GB macbook air was over 30GB, but not sure how that could be/what it is. Mainly just concerned with getting the photos and things from my computer to my portable hard drive

I had my computer serviced about 7 months ago due to a "startup disk" being full issue. I received my computer back from repairs and the startup disk is now full again, despite me saving no data but photos, and very few of those (approx. 300) I have a 2010 MacBook.
