Apr 9, 2012I noticed a couple of days ago that my camera wasnt working. i would go on ichat and try and videochat with someone and it wouldnt work. i tried photobooth and it didn't work either. the little green light would light up next to the camera, but no picture would show up on the screen. when i went on websites that had videochat, the camera would work just fine.

Apr 26, 2012I have a early 2011 macbook pro running os x lion 10.7.3 and my camera will not work when i open facetime it says ' there is no connected camera' i have searched all over the forums and internet to find a solution but none of them have worked. i know its not a hardware issue as the camera works if i switch to a different user and also works if someone calls my facetime the camera will load up. problem is the same with photobooth etc.

Dec 6, 2014Had the same issue with previous system 10.9. Question was answered and it solved the problem, only until I reboot the computer. Then problem appeared again.
Installed 10.10.1 Yosemite and again my camera is no longer operating. I tried the previous method and used Disk Utilities to repair the permissions but it still does not work.

Dec 3, 2010Occasionally my friends and I go to tinychat to do a multi-person video chat. Usually when i click "broadcast" there are many video options and I choose the one that has myself on it. It usually says something like "USB camcorder" or something with USB in it. However; the other night I tried to go on, and it wouldn't let me. I noticed that the video options had gone down to about 4, and the one with myself was called "Built-In iSight." I have never had this option before, so I clicked it. the green light next to my camera flicked on and then off. You couldn't see me. Was it something I did? All the video sharing websites do this; however on my photobooth and ichat it works fine...

Jun 11, 2012Using a Feb 2011 Macbook Pro with OSX Lion 10.7.4 It seems that every time i use my built-in iSight camera, then the next time i go to use it, it can not be found. This requires that I reset the PMU, which is kind of annoying. Then it works for a few weeks and the cycle of iSight begins again. Why does this happen? It seems pretty trivial to consistently recognize a camera which is wired into my computer. Is there something I could do to prevent this from happening again? I have tried turning it on and off again. And currently, this article is linking to the reset instructions for Intel iMac instead of the Macbook Pro page...

Jul 4, 2012I recently bought a base MBP-RD and can say that I am overall impressed with it, though I have found a couple issues already. One of them is related to the iSight camera which for some reason doesn't work. The camera appears in system profiler, but it shows as "camera not detected" when trying to launch application like iChat, Skype, FaceTime, etc. I already tried re-installing OSX Lion, and still not working.
I have also found some weird issue with graphics where it freezes a series of frames when going to Mission Control or App Expose.
I am returning this computer as there are other things I didn't like, but overall pretty impressive (no LED battery indicator, no Lock slot, no sleep light indicator...)
