I have an 11 inch mac book air but the camera(Photo Booth), and face time are not working.They both say that there is no camera connected. It used to work but now is not.

I noticed a couple of days ago that my camera wasnt working. i would go on ichat and try and videochat with someone and it wouldnt work. i tried photobooth and it didn't work either. the little green light would light up next to the camera, but no picture would show up on the screen. when i went on websites that had videochat, the camera would work just fine.

Had the same issue with previous system 10.9. Question was answered and it solved the problem, only until I reboot the computer. Then problem appeared again.
Installed 10.10.1 Yosemite and again my camera is no longer operating. I tried the previous method and used Disk Utilities to repair the permissions but it still does not work.

Usually when i click "broadcast" there are many video options and I choose the one that has myself on it. It usually says something like "USB camcorder" or something with USB in it. Using a Feb 2011 Macbook Pro with OSX Lion 10.7.4 It seems that every time i use my built-in iSight camera, then the next time i go to use it, it can not be found. This requires that I reset the PMU, which is kind of annoying. Then it works for a few weeks and the cycle of iSight begins again. Why does this happen? It seems pretty trivial to consistently recognize a camera which is wired into my computer. Is there something I could do to prevent this from happening again? I have tried turning it on and off again. And currently, this article is linking to the reset instructions for Intel iMac instead of the Macbook Pro page...

I recently bought a base MBP-RD and can say that I am overall impressed with it, though I have found a couple issues already. One of them is related to the iSight camera which for some reason doesn't work. The camera appears in system profiler, but it shows as "camera not detected" when trying to launch application like iChat, Skype, FaceTime, etc. I already tried re-installing OSX Lion, and still not working.
I have also found some weird issue with graphics where it freezes a series of frames when going to Mission Control or App Expose.
I am returning this computer as there are other things I didn't like, but overall pretty impressive (no LED battery indicator, no Lock slot, no sleep light indicator...)

I just get the small black screen in the Skypes window. Is ther another piece of software I need other than Macam for Skypes connection or.I did get a message on screen that Skypes had connected to my camera.
