MacBook Pro :: I7 Sandy Bridge With Optibay Harddrive Is Running Slow In Diablo 3 In Low Setting

May 21, 2012

I been noticing my MacBook pro getting very slow in games like diablo 3 and Starcraft. This MacBook pro was bought a year ago. It is running i7 sandy bridge with a 128 Ssd. I did install optibay with a monetux xt hard drive in it.It could run ultra setting on Starcraft no problem and is very smooth when I first got it. Lately I got diablo 3, and it gets very slow. I had to change all the graphics setting to low. It is not slow in the beginning, but it gets very slow after a while. It is like slow motion!!! Even when is low, it is still very laggy in game. I tried to repair the disk and clean up the laptop with onyx and still doing the same thing. I even try to reboot when is slow, but same thing after I reboot. I guess the MBP still hot.

MacBook Pro :: Sandy Bridge To Get USB 3.0?

Sep 29, 2010

Fudzilla reports that Intel has confirmed that Intel 6 chipset will natively support USB 3.0. Yes, both, mobile and desktop chipsets. Still unsure whether all chipsets or just some of them will support USB 3.0.

I would like to add that it's not 100% sure since Fudzilla didn't show any concrete evidence but they usually know their stuff. At least we have hope now

MacBook Pro :: Using Sandy Bridge?

Jan 6, 2011

So I've seen way to many "should I upgrade now or wait" threads, but I've been out of the tech "loop" for a while, and I would just like to ask weather its worth it to wait for the new mbp if it has sandybridge with it.

So I will be going to college soon, and I'm going to be taking some film courses, and I do photoshop work and premier work with a bit of after effects. Would anyone be able to tell me weather the sandy bridge will be able to handle this better than the current cpu's or are the current cpu's going to preform better? I can wait if I have to for the new ones, but I'm currently on a $300 netbook right now, I just sold my i7 gaming/media windows computer for money to buy my macbook. I'm switching to mac for good, I'm getting sick with windows.

I'm going to wait for the 2011 mbp announcement before I make any final decisions though. I don't want to buy a current mbp if the 2011's have some crazy good upgrade and I miss out.

MacBook Pro :: Finding Sandy Bridge?

Oct 18, 2010

I am currently at University studying animation. I use programmes such as Adobe Flash and photoshop. When I get a MBP I will be using it for those programmes, Microsoft office, watching tv shows and movies, football manager, music and internet browsing.

Now from what I understand of the intel processors the current i3, i5 and i7 are already very good. My question is do I really need to wait until SB to do the things I want?

I currently use a desktop dual core and it is slow for what I do but I can cope.

I'm thinking of 13" i3 MBP but if you guys really think I would need better I probably will go for the 15" i5.

AMD IGP is twice as fast in games.

Interesting to consider for the MBP 13 next year if the cpu is faster than the C2D.

MacBook Pro :: Sandy Bridge MBP Is Dual Cores?

Dec 14, 2010

The Sandy Bridge version of MacbookPro's isn't likely to use the quad core version but instead a dual core version with hyper-threading much like the existing lineup offers.According to current Sandy Bridge listings:

[URL]Sandy_B...ile_processors the quad core Sandy Bridge mobile CPU is 45W TDP while the current i7 processor used in MBPs today is only 35W.

Due to size constraints and Apple's push to have 8+ hours of battery life they will be incapable of continuing to offering 8 or more battery hours if the switch to Sandy Bridge 45W quad cores is chosen.

The current 35W offering of Sandy Bridge is only a dual core with hyper-threading. There's still expected to be some improvement in performance as early benchmarks by Anandtech are showing a 10-30% performance boost per core on the desktop variants.

MBP 13" and regular Macbooks should see the switch to Sandy Bridge dual cores due the the integrated IntelHD 200 graphics(which appears to be on par with an ATI 5450) eliminating the need for a discreet Nvidia 320M in lower end models.

Mac Pro :: Sandy Bridge Upgrade?

Does anyone know the status on "Sandy Bridge" with regards to it being utilized in future Mac Pro's? I ask as I just sold my 2008 2.8 8 Core and am considering a 2010 8 Core Westmere. However I can live without a system, so if in 5-6 months Sandy Bridge appears in the Mac Pro, and it's worth the wait, I'm for it.

MacBook Pro :: Running Diablo One On Mac OS X

Dec 23, 2009

I have recently bought a MacBook Pro with OS X, and it works very well. However, I have noticed that when I try to install Diablo 1 from Blizzard Entertainment from my CD-ROM, it fails to initialize. Upon further investigation, I have discovered that the game, being fairly old by computer standards, will not run on OS X. I have read that an emulator, such as Sheepshaver, is available to emulate an earlier OS that will run the game. However, I downloaded Sheepshaver, and it did not install either. The application just sits there and has to be forced to quit. I do not know what is required for me to run Sheepshaver, and thus I am asking any fellow OS X users and MacBook Pro experts to please help. What am I missing to run Sheepshaver correctly?

MacBook Pro :: With SSD Optibay Slow Booting

Dec 30, 2009

i've got an optibay installed in my uMBP for about 3 months now. In the optibay I have a 60 GB SSD, from which i boot. My other harddrive contains my OS X home folder & a bootcamp partition. I really love my setup, it's perfect for my, until I saw a buddy in my class boot his MBP: after he pressed the button, it took about 2 sec to show the apple logo. He doesn't have a SSD, and the exact same machine, and yet me manages to boot faster then me. (We also both have 10.6). I searched about this problem, and the only thing i could find was to make sure that your OS X partition is set as boot drive. Here is a screenshot of my boot drive menu: I found it strange that my bootcamp doesn't show up there. I always boot in bootcamp holding the alt key, not using this preference pane. Here is a video of my macbook booting: [URL] I found this ting called rEFIt?

OS X :: Setting Up An External Harddrive?

Mar 23, 2009

I am not very computer savvy, and new to your community here. (also I apologize if this is posted in the wrong forum. this one seemed the most logical, but I wasn't sure.)

Just bought an external harddrive for my MacBook, and my hope was to move my itunes library, photos, and a few essential documents to the external.

what is the easiest way to do this?

Also, after I have everything backed up, I was planning on restoring the computer to factory settings, and enjoy it being "like new" with all my content on harddrive. If I did this, would I still be able to seamless access all the stuff on the external, such as my itunes library? How would this work? Is it even a good idea to restore the computer?

MacBook Pro :: Running So Slow On Startup And Apps Are Very Slow To Open Like Around 5 Minutes

Aug 24, 2014

I have this MBP 13'' Mac OS X 10.7.5 running a 2.4GHz i5, 4GB RAMs and 500GB storage. The problem started yesterday when I was typing on Word and I copy pasted something from the net (chrome browser) then it froze.I waited for around 5minutes and still frozen with the spinning wheel, then I decided to turn it off by pressing power for 10 seconds restarted my

MBP then now it running so slow on start-up and apps are very slow to open like around 5 minutes. Every action that I try to do like clicking on the apple in the upper left it freezes showing a spinning wheel and it will take time to show the drop down options. I checked disk utility and it said that HD is ok, done verify/permission verify and repair.

I checked the activity monitor noting the ram/CPU usage and its normal it even tells that 2GB of ram is not use.It shows not responding in the activity monitor if you open an app for around 5mins then it opens or it will crash.I already done the 2 kinds of reset and did not work.BUT it opens normally in Safe mode.

Why Is Macbook Pro Running So Slow And So Slow To Reboot

Jun 6, 2012

I edit using Lightroom and Photoshop and I'm having an issue while editing. After editing around 8-10 photos in Photoshop the computer starts running unbelievably slow. After each 8-10 photos I have to close down everything and reboot. Even the reboot process is super slow as I have to force quit each application usually 1-2 times to get it to close. Is this normal? I have a 2011 17" with 2.2 GHZ i7 with 8GB ram. Is there any setting that I can change or be aware of.

MacBook Pro :: New Running Very Slow?

I have so far had no problems, using it everyday for work. I do not use a lot of programs or take up a lot of memory. I currently have 413GB free of 499GB and have hardly any apps running. My MacBook pro is now running extremely slow. It takes ages to load a web page, to open Word and even to start a new line in an email!

I am familiar with Windows and PC's but when it comes to Mac's, this is my first, and I am unsure of why this could be happening!
