View 1 RepliesI'm wondering if it's possible to play my Xbox on my MacBook display instead of on the terrible standard definition 13" TV I have at school.
Would it be possible to find a component to mini-display adapter?
I am having a problem configuring my mac to display a movie on a tv.
I am using the Dynex mini-DVI to video component. I plugged the component into my mac and the extension cable to the tv.
Once the mac was on, the only thng the tv did was display static.
I tried searching through the display options to reset the resolution and and refresh rate, but was unsuccessful.
The tv I am trying to set up is a Sony 40" HDtv.
My iMac is I think 2009 model. It comes with a mini-display port.Â
I have a Dell monitor which has a Display port input and I want to use it as a second monitor. The DVI input in the Dell monitor is taken up.Â
But how do I connect from the mini-display in the iMac to the Display port in Dell monitor ? Doesn't look like aplle sell this connector cable !Â

I have the most recent Macbook Pro, and I want to connect it to my projector. The projector has an S-Video port. The new Macbook Pros don't have a mini-DVI port, so I can't use a Micro-DVI to S-Video adapter.

View 2 Replies View RelatedHas anyone heard of a bluetooth video transmitter/receiver? I currently have a 13" Alum MB connected to an 50" Sony LCD using a Mini Display Port to HDMI cable. Controlled by a Magic Mouse and Wireless Keyboard. This works fine, with the TV being approx. 12ft away from you. However, I'd really like to find an video bluetooth transmitter/receiver to connect to the Mini Display Port to make this setup truly wireless.

I want to watch videos on my television. My only option is composite video and audio, I can not use component, s-video, or anything else. Is there any cable i can use to connect my macbook's Mini DisplayPort to my tv's composite video port. I do not need 1080p cinematic video with 85 channel surround sound or anything, I just need ok video and understandable audio.

I have a Mac Mini w/windows 7 32 bit installed VIA bootcamp. Is anyone running [URL] this VIA windows on a Mac? I tried mini DVI to VGA, but my tv won't pick up the windows side at all and I can't get 1080p on the Mac side.
View 3 Replies View RelatedI would like to know if someone knows if there is a way to plug in my unibody Mac Book with Mini DisplayPort to my old TV with S-Video?? Looks like apple don't make this because the only I saw was Mini DVI with S-Video. How can I make this work.
View 3 Replies View RelatedI know about the 27 inch and how it can is can use its mini display port as a video input. But I was wondering if you could use the 21.5 inch to do the same. From what I am reading its seems though that it can't, is there a hack of some sort that could do this. This would be a great 1080p screen to use instead of buying a brand new TV.
View 1 Replies View RelatedI bought a Mini DisplayPort to DVI adaptor with the intent of connecting my TV (with DVI-in) to my MacBook in order to use front row (and plex) for films.
However when I got home, I found that the DVI female of the adaptor does not match up (or successfully connect) to the DVI male of the cable. Have I done something foolish, but it seems that there are pins on the male that do not have a corresponding socket?
I have attached an image to try and help out...
Should I just give up and seek out a VGA instead?
Is there as way to connect to two cinema display on 21.5 mid 2011 iMac with only 1 thunderbolt port?

I'm asking myself if it's possible to connect two 27" iMacs with the "Mini-Display-Port to Mini-Display-Port" Cable. I wonna use oneof the iMacs as the primary computer and on the second one just the display to extend my screen.

I need to get component video out (HDTV) and am trying to get a video card that can do that. This is for a Quad 2.66 Mac Pro, currently with a 7300GT. Is the HD 3870 it? Since it's a Mac & PC edition and the PC cards have had Component Out via adapter for some time, I am hoping that this card might do it. Naturally I don't want to buy just to find out it isn't. Their website is useless, as usual.
View 2 Replies View RelatedFor anyone wanting to use their Mini Display port connector on their 4870 with a panel that has the standard size display port connector, I've found a source for a cable that works perfectly. It has the mini display port on one end and a full size display port on the other. Cost $19 bucks shipped and works like a champ. The cable is nice and compact, thinner and more flexible than my DVI cable. I'm quite pleased! ( it's the little things.... )
Here is the cable I picked up: Mini Display Port to Display Port cable
My TV doesn't have DVI or VGA inputs, so I can only use component video input to plug my mac mini(mid 2007).
But I have serious problems with it. I have bought a Dvi to component video cable on eBay but it doesn't work with mac mini(it works with old PC).
How many of you would like to see a HDMI Port? Why the miniDisplay port? Why not remove ethernet jack and miniDisplay port and replace it with a HDMI port. That way one HDMI cable feeds digital video AND audio. Am I the only one thinking of this?

View 5 Replies View RelatedSo our church just purchased a nice refurb iMac to use for media presentations during weekly worship services. We have a projector with a VGA cable, so I bought a mini display port to VGA adapter from apple so that we can connect our shiny new iMac to our big screen.
However, when we attempt to connect our VGA to our adapter, they don't fit together properly. It's like the screws on the VGA cable aren't long enough to screw into the adapter...thus, the cable won't stay connected to the adapter (it just falls out).
Someone suggested getting an S cable to replace the VGA cable, but Apple tells me there's no adapter to link the S cable to the iMac. I'm absolutely clueless...surely there is a way to connect my wonderful new iMac to the big screen.
Any ideas?
I have a mid-late 2008 MacBook connected to a Dell U2211H monitor using a Mini DisplayPort -> VGA connection.
When I use 1920x1080, I only get 60 Hz and the display is a fuzzy (text). Also, there are black bars. Why?
Will my issues be solved using a Mini DisplayPort -> DVI connection? Or should I exchange it for the 2209?
I use MBP (late 2011). I find the hunderbolt port to be similar to the mini-display port of older mac. I wish to have another display, but not ready to spend $999 over a thunderbolt display from mac. So would like to know if a Mini-diaplay port converter from apple would help me connect a exernal display via the thunderbolt port?

First i want to apologize for my bad english. Soon i will buy an iMac - the 21,5' version. I nave an old 29 CRT Samsung TV with S - video input, scart input and RCA input. My idea was to connect the iMac with the TV through the S - video input by using the apple's video adapters Mini DisplayPort to DVI Adapter and Apple DVI to Video Adapter. But when i saw the pictures of these adapters i saw that my idea is impossible, because the connection between them is impossible because of the 4 additional pins in one of the adapters - Mini DisplayPort to DVI Adapter. My question is how can i connect my TV with the iMac through the s - video port on my TV?
