I want to change the email used for my Apple ID. I'm thinking of using my iCloud mail. Is that a good idea?
I have an iPad 3, iPad 4s, and Facetime all based on the old e-mail. What problems might I run into?
Will I have problems with applications that I bought before? What about TV shows and music?
I am unable to change my email on my apple id even though I have followed all of the steps on the website. And yes, I have logged out of all apple related things on all my devices with that id.

View 3 Replies View RelatedI made my first Apple ID about 10 years ago on an email address that I have since stopped checking and don't know the login anymore. When I was trying to update my ID to my newer email so I could start using iCloud, it wouldn't let me without verifying it with the old email that I can't check. When I figured out how to just verify using security questions instead, it won't let me change my ID because apparently somewhere along the line I listed my current email address as a recovery email address. It won't let me use this email because it is also listed as a recovery address, but I can't figure out how to change that.

Through the years I've clicked this, over and over: "If you prefer not to receive commercial email from Apple, or if you've changed your email address, please click here." I'm trying to detect a pattern. I suspect that every time our family buys a new apple product we are hit with advertisements. I recently bought a new iPod Touch. I wonder if this is why the offer from apple to leave me alone fails, over and over.

View 2 Replies View RelatedI have a user with a new 13" MacBook Pro, which got rather misconfiguration during intial setup. We thought it might be easiest to erase and start afresh, so I booted into the Lion recovery partition. Firstly, tried to customise the Lion installation as per previous versions, but the 'Customise' choice is greyed out. Ok, no Erase and Reinstall option then. In Disk Utility, I erased the partition, and renamed it something sensible (UserHD). Back to the install, all proceeded correctly until it tried downloading files from Apple. At this point, the progress bar moved slowly across, until it reached the end and I was presented with an error message along the lines that it failed to download additional components from Apple.
I have tried this four times, with various combinations of Wifi, and wired ethernet connections, all with the same result.Booting into Internet Recovery mode (Cmd-Opt-R) also fails: after an initial moving glode icon, and a small amount of the progress bar, I get the exlcamation mark icon, apple.com/support and error code -2105F The laptop is now unuseable, because we can't restore it.
1: Can I tell it NOT to go to the internet first? Every other OS Installer lets you install first, and then go off to download additional components.
2: I note in the Installer logs that it thinks it's about 8 hours behind local time. Is this a problem (perhaps with SSL cert verification?)
3: Does the download happen over non-standard ports? (eg. something that may be being blocked by our firewall?)

View 9 Replies View RelatedI am trying to recovery a file created in Microsoft Office 2008 for Mac. The file was lost after a power outage. In an attempt to recover the file, my first thought was to check for the file in the Microsoft AutoRecovery 2008 folder within my hardrive. However, the folder only contains a total of four files! Why? If my Microsoft Word is set up to auto save a document every 10 minutes...then how is it possible the folder could only contain 4 files? I am at a loss of how else to recover this file. I am currently attempting to do so with a free trial of Data Recovery Software to see if the file I lost even still exists, with no success so far.

I ordered a macbook pro and an iPod touch yesterday and didn't get a confirmation email so I cancelled.
I contacted the bank today and everything is in order so I ordered again and it's been 2 hours and I didn't get the confirmation email yet. Does it usually take this long? I've never bought on the online apple store before. I got the "thank you for your order" thing and everything so I'm sure they accepted the credit card. I'm not sure why the email is taking forever and it's getting me to be a little edgy.
When I got my Mac, I added two email addresses (both Gmail server but different "@ portions" i.e. @gmail.com and @___.org). I've deleted the @___.org email because it didn't matter whether I sent it from one email or the other, they both end up in sent items of mny @___.org email. So even replies from my [URL] address gets sent to the other email.I've deleted the other email and I'm pretty sure I didn't link the two accounts on Gmail so I'm not sure what's happening.

My apple mail version 7.3 has never had any problems connecting with my gmail account, but recently whenever I try to send an email, it goes straight to the outbox and then a popup saying "Gmail cannot connect to the server" or something like that comes up. It asks me to enter my password, and I do and then it just pops up the same error again. I have tried changing my password and made sure I am entering it correctly but it just does not work. I can receive mail fine.
