Mar 21, 2012I inserted a blank disc into my macbookpro, hoping to upload songs to it. I hit open it iTunes, and now i can not eject the disc from finder or from iTunes. What should I do.

Mar 3, 2008I've been having problem with either Firefox or Safari and I download something and the dmg extracts and I'm left with the white casing shell where the app is housed and it won't eject. I can't eject it from finder but dumping it to the trash from finder took it off the sidebar. I can't get them off my desktop unless I restart my Mac.
I've noticed now that along with disk images not mounting for me anymore. My external drive images or DVD's won't eject either.
When I use right click with Mighty Mouse I don't even see an option anymore to eject that image. Is there any solution out there to fix this glitch? The work around I'm using is unmounting or ejecting images or disks from Disk Utility.
Why is this happening and how do I fix it? I'm using Leopard 10.5.2 and am on an intel iMac.

Oct 14, 2009Just got a Pioneer 216-R DVD Burner. It worked great, extremely fast and fully functional. But when I pressed eject button it said I inserted a blank DVD(which I didn't) it asks what I want to open it with. What am I doing wrong? Or what's wrong with the DVD drive?!

Mar 27, 2012My MacBook will accept and play CDs that contain music and data, but it ejects the OS 10.5 install disk and all DVDs after a few seconds of what sounds like it's trying to boot them. I'm running 10.5.8 now, and I need to do some disk repairs but am unable to designate a non-HD startup disk to use for that purpose. I've read several posts in the discussion forums, the last of which stated that this problem was resolved by inserting the disc over and over until it "took." After about 10 times of doing that for the last several minutes, it doesn't appear to be "taking." Another post mentioned an optical drive cleaner as a possible fix, and another concluded that a similar problem was a broken drive. I don't know about the latter, since my MacBook still plays CDs without any problems.

May 12, 2012I put a CD in, but it never came up on my desktop so my player never actually read the disk. I've tried alot of ways to eject it, but nothing has worked. down eject and the trackpad. I've also tried to eject it from the startup menu. It sounds like it is trying to eject the disk, but it never comes out.

May 25, 2010I am having problem to eject an external flash drive in my MacBook. After I eject the disk, the icon disappears normally, but re-appears instantly before I plug it out from the USB hub. So, every time I end up with an irritating warning sign.
Is there a way to stop remounting a disk once it is ejected from the system?
The flash drive I am having problem is actually not a generic flash drive but a mp3 player manufactured by Iriver - Iriver T5, which also work as a flash drive for me and a cross-plateform disk space for use in emergency.
I do not have this problem with other dedicated flash and external drivers.
Please share if you have any solution or thoughts toward the solutions.

Jun 4, 2012I put a cd in the slot drive to burn to my itunes. At first it seemed to behave as normal, it sucked the disk in, made noise, all that good stuff. Well I went to itunes to find the disk and it didn't show. It didn't show up in finder either. I decided to eject and try again, but the disk wouldn't eject. Since then there's been no noises from the drive. It seems like the drive just died, like it's not even trying to start up or work. The cd is literally a week old, and has been in my car cd player since I bought it, so I know the disk is clean. Also, I used the drive a week or two ago to burn several disks and had no problems with it. All my software is up to date and it reads the drive as being there, it just doesn't work.
I've spent a few hours troubleshooting this. Like I said, the computer doesn't even seem to realize there's a disk in the drive. I've tried restarting while holding down the mouse (well, trackpad actually), repairing permissions, blowing in compressed air, tried ejecting with terminal, gravity, resetting the SMC, and probably a couple other things I'm forgetting.

After it is installed, can I then start up computer and then insert the DVD Install operating system disk, or do I install the DVD install disk, then shut down computer and swap the HD drive? I know that I will reformat the disk when Installer begins, but I want to know if the computer will recognize the install disk with a new blank HD in place.

I hear 2 short "whirrs", nothing for about 10 seconds, 2 short "whirrs", nothing for about 10 seconds, 2 short "whirrs", then the disc is ejected.I have experimented w/different discs & get the same results each time: drive accepts the disc for about 30 seconds, never mounts it on desktop, then ejects it.

I want to eject it so I can put some felt pads underneath it as its making a right humming noise on the desk but when i try to eject it i get the error.
Now unless I am missing something, it tells me to quit all apps, yes, ive done that, the only thing that is running is finder.Is there any easy way of finding out what is open on the external drive before I just pull the plug on the whole thing!?

i was looking through our cd's and i found one that said windows xp installation and system restore disk. thinking this is what i needed, i put it in my mac when it said to insert the cd. then it restarted and went to a black screen (like pc's do when they start up) and it said,Gateway couldn't find an operating system to restore, press R to restore
I cant press anything else and when i press R, nothing happens.
if i unplug it or hold down the power button and turn it back on, it goes to the white apple screen (just before you see the apple logo) and then back to the black system restore screen. if i could get to the desktop i could eject the disk. but i cant.

The DVD disk was recorded on my HardDisk Recorder (downstairs) from cable TV. The format is VR mode. That's the HDR recording mode here in Japan when recording from cable. Usually if I try a HDR DVD disk in my Mac it usually ejects easily.

Jul 15, 2008By accident I inserted the Installation disk for the Mac OS X software even though it is already installed into my laptop. I tried ejecting the disk but the eject button would not do anything. I also attempted to hold down the track button while restarting my computer which did eject the disk but resulted in a bunch of small symbols flashing in the middle of my screen so I inserted the disk again. I really don't want to risk losing any of my files by re-installing the Mac OS software so I don't know how to quit the installation process.
