MacBook :: Screen Randomly Gets Very Dark
Sep 9, 2014My MacBook is from 2007, so it is old and has its problems.When I turned it on one day, it was all normal, and randomly the screen got so dark, it looked like the computer had shut down on me. I knew it was still turned on though because the little light was indicating that it was on and it was still making the cd drive/booting up sounds.Â
After a while, I noticed that the screen just went very very dim, because I could still slightly see the webpage I was on. Turning up the brightness of the screen did nothing, same with restarting the computer.
Sometimes the screen would come back to the normal brightness, until I would go to do something on the internet and it would go very dark again. It's so unpredictable, I don't even want to deal with it anymore.Â

Feb 4, 2012I have previously been able to use FaceTime and Photo Booth on my Macbook Pro, however I tried to use FaceTime a few days ago and it tells me there is "no camera connected". To be clear I have never used an external camera, I have only every used the iSight that is built into my laptop. This problem is not application specific nor is it user specific. I haven't dropped my laptop or done anything to it physically that I can think would have hurt the laptops camera. Does anyone know how I can fix it and get the camera back? Â

The application comes up but the loading symbol just goes round and round for hours and nothing happens, even the little green light doesn't come on. At the top of the mac screen in photo booth>camera section it says 'no camera available' but when i open my FaceTime the light comes on and camera works. How can i fix my photo booth??

Apr 15, 2008I'm trying to get a Macbook's iSight working. The Macbook is running Leopard, currently. When I go to open Photo Booth, I get the camera icon with a slash through it - indicating the camera isn't connected/available. The same problem happens with other applications. I don't believe it is listed in System Profiler, though if it was listed as something other than "iSight" I could have missed it.
I tried a few applications that are supposed to kick start it, reset the P Ram, reset the SMC, etc to no avail.
MacBook :: Open Up Photo Booth It's Just Black, And The Green Light Won't Come On?
Nov 7, 2009I've been having a strange issue with my iSight recently. It will work sometimes, and then one day for no reason, it won't. When I open up photo booth it's just black, and the green light won't come on. When I try and video chat, it says the camera is in use, which it obviously isn't. It will let me chat, though, the other person just can't see me. If I restart my computer, the camera will start working again, but the same issue will come back within a few days. About a month ago I called Applecare about this and a palmrest crack, and sent it in. Since I had to turn it off to send it in, though, they didn't see any problem when they received it and thus didn't do anything about it. Once the issue came back again, I took it to an Apple store (about an hour away) so I could show someone in person. The genius sent it in for me and they replaced several parts, but it's happening again! This is very frustrating, and I really don't want to have to make the drive again. My school store sells Macs and I might be able to take it there for them to have a look. I've had a few other issues with this machine, too, do you think they might just consider a replacement at this point? I've had a couple other small issues with the machine in the past (DOA battery, palmrest cracks, stuck pixels).
It's a late '07 Blackbook with plenty of Applecare left. Also, the issue started after (but not right after) I installed Snow Leopard, if that might have anything to do with anything.

Feb 4, 2012my screen is just randomly going dark. its not shuting down - just seems to go to sleep but nothing I do wakes it short of turning the power button off then on. When I do that it quickly comes on again and seems to work fine. Seems to be happening with more and more frequency and is not particular to any software. I've read the boards here - I'm not a gamer ( no games on this computer) I'm a photographer with lots of files and I use photoshop alot. Yesterday I was on you tube and my screen went dark again but the video was still playing - I could still hear it. In fact, I could hit my mouse to stop and start the video but I couldn't see anything. Are their any of you out their that have any 3rd party webcams, that work well with photo booth? I know that their are plenty of plug and play usb webcams, that will work with the likes of ichat. But from what I have read is that photo booth is some what picky with usb web cams. Slow and unresponsive.
