MacBook Pro :: 15 High CPU Temperature - System Goes Warm?
Dec 23, 2009I recently bought a MacBook Pro 15inch, the 2.66Ghz model;Nice laptop, but I'm worried about something: I play some games from time to time and I have been noticing that the CPU Temperature goes very High.My record is 92?C just moments ago while playing World of Warcraft.ou can see a screenie here: http://drp.ly/6gW9a
(In this screenshot the Fans speed was about 2600rpm although under 90? they drop to 2000rpm)The laptop itself is not hot though, it's warm. (And I like it <3)

Oct 13, 2010Systematic Endpoint antivius protection installed on my computer. Recently I have been seeing high CPU temps - around 70/75 and fan exhausts around 4500. I have been researching on other forums and I have seen that it could be the virus protection that is causing this. Now I know that I don't really need the virus protection because well, I have a mac. So I was wondering how can I successfully uninstall the protection. And if anybody on here disagrees with it being the virus protection, then what do you think it could be? Right now I am only running Firefox for surfing and Itunes.

I have been running Parallels windows 7 + photoshop CS5 + MS word at the same time by bouncing from one to the other on MTN Lion, My machine was running at about 115-120F and an average speed of 1998 rpm-2200 rpm. I have just upped to Mavericks and running same programs My temperature zoomed up to 215F and my speed to 3800 rpm.

Dec 31, 2010My macbook pro is almost always in my room. The problem is that at night my room gets the coldest (around high 50's to 60's). I don't have a case yet, as school has not started. Is this particularly bad form my MBP if I, take my MBP out of my room and move it to family room to use it. (the family room is around 70's in the morning)
I have heard of internal condensation, but would this be a problem in my case. I guess at night the temp is high 50's than by morning (b/c of the sun) the temp rises slowly to about high 60's, than I move it to family room, mid 70's? Its not below freezing at my house (I live in Southern Cal.), but again wondering if this is right.
High MBP Temperature / Too Hot To Use
May 18, 2012So recently my 2008 Macbook Pro has been getting really hot, even when it's not really being used. It's now too hot to put on my lap and even sitting on a desk it doesnt get any better, and I am only running Chrome and iChat. Here are the Temp Monitor and iStat Pro sceenshots: I feel like it's been getting progressively hotter over the last few weeks, but what do I know. Also, why are the fans at 4500 rpms when Im only running chrome and iChat?

Feb 8, 2010I just recently bought an imac computer and my two friends who know a lot about apple computers thought that the fans and temperature might be a little high. The cpu fan at idle runs at just under 1200 rpm's, the harddrive fan runs at 1100 rpm's and the optical drive fan runs at 1000 rpm's. The temperature itself 40-44C. The other imac that they know of is a year old, so we weren't sure if there were newer upgrades that might be making the difference between our speeds and temperature compared to that one.

Feb 19, 2010I have an original MacBook Pro 15" (A1150) that randomly shuts down. Seems to be running very hot. I've already had to replace a bulging battery, and TechTool Pro has indicated a temperature-related S.M.A.R.T. failure with the HD.
If I downgrade the HD from 7200 RPM to 5400 RPM, will that help with the heat issues? Any other heat-related fixes? I know the 13" MacBook Pro suffered a random shutdown syndrome, but I didn't know if the 15" was affected too.

Apr 22, 2010I just installed the iStat Nano widget in my MBP 15" Core 2 Duo 2.53 GHz. Amongst other things, it displays the system temperature, which is currently at 32 Celsius. However, I do not know which is the appropriate temperature range for my system, so I cannot know which level should be an alert for me. Could someone inform me about the appropriate temp levels? Moreover, I have ordered and expect soon the new MBP 15" i7. Are the same temperature levels appropriate for all Mac machines, including my new MBP?

Is this too high? Lately the fan has been turning on more recently almost without any apps running so I think that there might be some hardware problem. I ran HardwareTest it found nothing.
The macbook is 2 yrs old. Do i need to get it cleaned or is there something else I should be worrying about?

Feb 8, 2007I have a MacPro 2.66 quad-core intel. 4gb ram. I have a hard-drive from my old Powermac that i upgraded to 10.5.5 for this computer. Everytime I put my computer to sleep, and then wake it back up. The fans spin up to maximum speed and all the fans are running really loud and then after about a minute all spin to normal speed.
I don't have any other flaws except for this. Why could this be?

Never had any major problems with the computer itself I am currently living in Korea, and thus have very highspeed internet. However, on my Mac, it is running quite slow. There is no modem that I can reset, because the apartment building is already wired so my ethernet cable connects directly into the wall. A friend came over to test the connection (speedtest.net) with his PC and he was downloading 60,000 KBPS, when I plugged in my MAC I was downloading at 15,000 KBPS. He downloads various things at around 2mb/s and I sometimes only get 50 kb/s.

Mar 27, 2009I have a Macbrook Pro, one generation old. In the past week, it started making a high pitched noise from the upper left hand corner, near the keyboard. When I pick the computer up and change the angle, I can eliminate the noise.
Just in the past day I noticed that in addition to this high pitched noise, periodically a much louder, different noise comes from the same area, which again, if I move the computer around, I can minimize the noise.
My guess is that there is something loose in the computer, maybe a fan? Should I bring it to apple? My computer has been running pretty slow lately, could this have anything to do with it?

Jun 4, 2012My imac became very slow all of a sudden (stalls when clicking and typing), 2-3 mths after Lion (not sure it's related), mount_hfs and syslogd taking up 80-99% of CPU in Activity Monitor.After digging online, checked my Console and found repeating messages exceeding 20,000+++. But I'm not sure what is being repeated (sample below).I've already turned off Time Machine.I was able to delete the syslogd activity, but still left with 99% mount_hfs, which 'maybe' related to the 20,000+++ repeated messages.Not sure if it's relevant...but I was digging through my asl folder, and it is up to 10g for a single date for some reason!
