MacBook Pro :: Safari Failed To Open Page Error Becoming More Frequent?
Sep 6, 2014
I have a mbpr with 10.9.4 Mavericks. It's been only a week since I got it and Safari just keep showing up this error in most of the sites I try to visit. Seriously it is so annoying. I try not to use other browser since Safari uses very little power from the battery.
Info:

I seem to be having a hell of a time with all google related things. About 50% of the time I can't get to the google search page and get the error message Safari can't open the page [URL] because Safari can't connect to the server. When I am able to get into gmail, I am constantly being disconnected from gchat, like every 5 minutes. When it disconnects, it will try to reconnect, most of the time unsuccessfully. I then get the error message, unable to reach gmail please check your internet connection. This happens no matter what browser I use. However, when I try to connect from my husband's PC (same network), everything is fine. I've tried emptying my safari cache, tried uninstalling and re-installing both safari and firefox, and I am out of ideas. Any ideas about what is going on, and how I might fix this issue. I searched through the google help, and there were similar problems posted (none recently), but no answers on how to solve the issue. This has been going on for about a week now, and it's driving me up a wall.
My application link get Failed to open error. It s mainly of RSS feed. Error: Safari cant open the page [url] The error is: unknown error (CFURLErrorDomain:-1) Please choose Safari > Report Bugs to Apple, note the error number, and describe what you did before you saw this message.the above link is working in other browsers like (IE, FF and chrome.).

I am trying to access the Apple Support Downloads page and somehow I am getting an Apple page with 404-error message. Is someone experiencing the same thing?

I was cruzing along just fine and went out tonight only to receive the message above: Cannot open Page Safari cannot open the page..The error was: "There was a problem communicating with the web proxy server (HTTP)." I have had all the Apple iPhone phone. All systems are GO as soon as I log on to wifi.
I open and close my 2010 MBP a lot. Maybe 15 times per day. Am I running the risk of breaking a cable between the base and screen or something? Should I just set it down and let it run?
I recently received an iMac as a "gift"... turns out it has some problems. I am unable to reinstall the default OS (Mountain Lion) because I have yet to be able to partition the HDD correctly. The error I keep getting is:Â Partition failed with the error: Wiping volume data to prevent future accidental probing failed. At this point, the default Macintosh HD isn't showing, so it must of been erased/deleted.Â
I like to command click for a new window and recently Safari started opening new pages that I command click UNDER the front main window. The preferences say it should be on top but it does not open that way. how to get this opening correctly again?Â
I cannot open PDF's. Error message appears saying, Safari cannot open the specified webpage because the first character is unrecognizable". What do I need to do to fix it?
Safari keeps failing to open web pages. Software is up to date, cache has been emptied and reset, and the webpage works on other devices. What is going on?
Anyone having problems accessing gmail in Safari today? When I try to access the sign-in page, it tells me that "Safari can't open the page [URL] because your computer isn't connected to the Internet." I am clearly connected to the internet. Also, my Mail.app cannot connect to my gmail account and neither can my GPeek widget.
However, I have no problem accessing gmail via Firefox. I have noticed this problem a few times over the past 2-3 weeks, but though it was a google issue. Today was the first time I thought of trying to access gmail via Firefox, and it does, which points to Safari. Of course, now that I've finished typing this up, I can access gmail via Safari with no problems.
I am using Safari 4.0.2. I was trying to login to Facebook, but yesterday, I got this message that says: "Safari can't open the page [URL] because Safari can't establish a secure connection to the server [URL]." It has continued to happen.
