MacBook Pro 10.6.8 not recognizing usb camera connection any more. Worked fine for ever. Just stopped seeing usb connection to camera. Other usb devices show up. How do I get it to recognize camera?

I have a 13" Macbook that, all of a sudden, cannot find my HP 4280 printer on my network. The Printer is plugged into my 21" iMac, and I'm using a Linksys router. I never had any trouble until recently, and when I open up the "Printers and Faxes" option in System Preferences, my printer isn't listed. When I click "add a printer", it's not there. I have cleared my printers and reset everything, but it hasn't fixed it. I can plug it in via USB and it recognizes it, but it won't find it via airport.

I have a 16 GB SDHC Card. I took pictures with it on my Nikon D5100 and now when I went to go look at the pictures on my camera, I got an error message that said this card is broken and that I need a new SD Card. Then I thought it was just a camera issue so I plugged it into my MacBook Pro but it didn't reconize it. Is there any way to get the data off of the SD card and how did this happen?

My powermac G5 has been off for a week while I was moving apartments. When I plugged it in again the external harddrives (four in all) that were daisy chained through the two firewire ports aren't being recognized anymore. I thought it was a bad cord or insufficient power but nothing worked. When I finally got around to looking at the System Profiler and check Firewire it said, "Unable to list firewire devices". I admit that I'm at a loss and I have no idea how to troubleshoot this.

I plugged in my camera and opened up image capture. I clicked download all. It downloaded two pictures that are not even on my camera (I double checked to make sure) and they were deleted weeks ago. And it's not recognizing the pictures I just took. There are about 23 pictures and it's not recognizing any of them just the two pictures that were deleted a while back. What's going on here? I'm new to Mac by the way.

View 4 Replies View RelatedI recently purchased a Mac 10.7.3. I was never a Mac user, so I am kind of lost.I was connecting through VPN Network Connect at work, but it recently stopped working. I read a few support stuff saying that there is a bug with the new JAVA update, Juniper Networks and Apple updates. I am not sure if that's what happen. This is the message that I get when I try to load Network Connect : System extension cannot be used The system extension “/usr/local/juniper/nc/7.1.0/nctun_tiger.kext” was installed improperly and cannot be used. Please try reinstalling it, or contact the product’s vendor for an update. After I hit cancel and try again, I no longer get the message, but it just loads endlessly. I tried deleting NC and reinstalling it, but it don't work. I tried running the tunnel through Google Chrome rather than Safari. I tried Java updates. Nothing works.IT at work is not Mac friendly and the company that manages all the VPN access is also not that savy and says it's my problem. Given that I am not too familiar with Mac yet, I can't get out of it on my own.

For some strange reason i don't have sound anymore on my macbook pro running snow leopard.
The only thing i can still select in my system preferences, sound, is Digital Out in the output selection.
Since some couple of months, i can't open some folders on my macbook air and pro anymore. when I try to open some folders, than every icon disappears, and I am at the some place I was before. The folders exist, because when I try to open some files from the search bar, it works, but I can search the files into the folder!

Airport is working fine, but the network port is having a problem. I have rebooted everything several times (cable modem, computer, wireless modem). I even reset the PRAM. Nothing works. I called Time Warner. After trying some things, they said there is something wrong with my MAC. I will probably take it into the Apple store, but I thought I would try this chat area first.

Recently, I've been trying to access my webcam but both Google Chrome, Safari, and my computer claim that it doesn't exist. I know for a fact that the camera is there, and works, having used it in the past, but all of a sudden it seems to have stopped being recognized.

So a week ago I opened Photoshop and my macbook froze and gave me this screen:
I had to force it to shut down, and when I turned it back on, I'd get the chime, I'd see the logo and the spinning cog, then it would go to a white screen and either stall or shut itself off... I tried resetting the PRAM and SMC. I went into Disk Utility and verified the disk and the permissions. I also reset Photoshop's preferences, and completely reinstalled it. Booting in safe mode worked, but of course it's a little slow and I can't use some programs. I was able to start up normally by booting in single user mode and running the /sbin/fsck -fy command a couple times.
I ended up taking it to a Genius Bar, they ran a couple diagnostic tests and confirmed it wasn't a hardware issue and it was probably the OS. They reinstalled Snow Leopard, I restored my stuff with my Time Machine backup, and everything worked fine for a couple days.
But today when I turned it on, it shut itself down again! And running single user mode doesn't work anymore. It'll say "The volume Macintosh HD appears to be OK." and when I reboot, it shuts down at the white screen. Now the only way it will boot up is in safe mode, and if I close the lid to put it in sleep mode, it'll turn itself off after a few minutes.
I'm not incredibly tech savvy, but I'm wondering if it could be a third party program. I'm not sure how to find out which one is causing the issue, though... I've uninstalled SMCfanControl and StartupSound.prefpane. Those are the only two I can think of that could potentially mess with the startup...

Since that time, no matter if I plug it into one router or the other (I use a router in my office to share the one ethernet cable that comes down the hall) it claims that the ethernet is working and it knows that it is connected to the Internet,but it cannot access the Internet. IT seems to be stuck in a cycle of navel-gazing, constantly focused on its own ethernet IP address.
All I know how to do is operate the thing; we have no IT person here. A visitor set up our network for us a few years ago. Only the iMac has this problem; my PC laptops go online just fine. But all my work is on the iMac.
I have a Mac Book Pro running OS X Lion. I cannot open .mpg video files created by my Panasonic Video camera. Neither iMovie nor Quicktime will open them. Final Cut Pro will not open them either.

I run a Mac Pro 2 x 2.66 GHz Dual Core Intel OSX 10.5.8 and have been editing video with iMovie HD 5.0.2 for several years. I recently connected my Sony DVR-2100E camcorder to iMovie, imported and edited footage. When I tried to export the edited footage back to the camera iMovie refused to recognise either of my 2 camcorders and would not connect. Although I have iMovieHD installed I do not appear to have iLife. I also have iMovieHD 5.0.2 installed on my Powerbook. When I connect either of my 2 camcorders to the Powerbook they connect OK to iMovie BUT the moment I try to export any footage back to camera it immediately crashes and say's it has lost the connection. This happens every time. If I purchase the Snow Leopard upgrade for Leopard for $39 will it have iLife with a full version of iMovie included, or will I have to purchase a full installation version? I am hoping that a newer version of iMovie with iLife will solve my problems.

I can connect to all computers on the internal network but when I try to connect outside of this network, I get an error "no internet connection" For example, if I try to run software updates from the command line, I get the "no internet connection" error. I can ping localhost, the router, and dns server successfully...cant ping outside the internal network however. All other computers can connect without a problem. The firewall is set to allow all traffic. Also, the internal network is a number of Windows/Linux PC's, 1 powerbook, and the Xserve.

When I enter my phone number and click the connect button, I get an error message: "Network Connection The communication device selected for your connection does not exist. Verify your settings and try reconnecting." Say what? It says it exists in the System Preferences, shows it in the list on the left. How can it not exist?
