View 4 RepliesI am having problems with Image Capture not recognizing all the files on my camera (and recognizing photos that have long since been deleted). So I just took a few pictures to test out and see if I could get it to work right. I plugged in my camera and opened up image capture. I clicked download all. It downloaded two pictures that are not even on my camera (I double checked to make sure) and they were deleted weeks ago. And it's not recognizing the pictures I just took. There are about 23 pictures and it's not recognizing any of them just the two pictures that were deleted a while back. What's going on here? I'm new to Mac by the way.

I took pictures with it on my Nikon D5100 and now when I went to go look at the pictures on my camera, I got an error message that said this card is broken and that I need a new SD Card. Then I thought it was just a camera issue so I plugged it into my MacBook Pro but it didn't reconize it. Is there any way to get the data off of the SD card and how did this happen?

I can't import my photos from my iPhone using iPhoto. I used to plug in my iPhone and iPhoto would open up automatically and ask me if I wanted to import my photos, but now it won't do that anymore. So, I open it manually and sometimes my iPhone shows up in the program, but now it doesn't even show up anymore. It showed up yesterday but it said I had no photos on my iPhone, (which is wrong being I have over 300 ready to import).
I tried updating iPhoto but the only update is for iLife 09 and I don't have the money for it, (nor the want). I also looked in iPhoto's preferences and there wasn't anything relating to importing from devices.
My iPhone is recognized by iTunes, and I am able to Sync it, but iPhoto won't even acknowledge it currently.
Right now, I'm going to update my iPhone 3G to the current update and see if that helps iPhoto recognize it.
I just bought a 13" 2.4Ghz Macbook Pro yesterday and upon installing programs for it, I found out that it doesn't support Sony Cybershot DSC-T900. I still have the installation CD, it CAN be opened but the files CANNOT be read. It seems that all the files are not compatible because the laptop cannot present any recommended program that can open the files in the CD.
Is there any solution/mediating software available so that I could use PMB software of Sony, Pictbridge, etc. and not just connect the camera via USB? I find it tedious and it would be a pity if i will not be able to utilize the PMB software.
So I'm getting ready to buy a new digital camera (am upgrading from an older HP 5.1MP camera) and I can't seem to find a list which states which cameras are compatible with iPhoto. I'm running iPhoto '08 on a iMac G4 10.5.6 / MacBook Pro IntelCore.
So far I'm looking at Canon's PowerShot SD790 IS, and their PowerShot A590 IS. Does anyone know if these two cameras are compatible with iPhoto?
My mac ibook will not recognize any camera that is connected via USB?

I've tried trashing iPhoto preferences, shutting down/restarting (hoping to refresh USB), even reinstalling iPhoto from scratch. I don't know how many times I've been able to import directly from my camera since the iPhoto 7.1.4 update was released, but I think it's been quite few. Most recently, I trashed the single cache file/folder for iPhoto to no avail, except now Image Capture crashes when I try to show its Device Browser, even after trashing its preferences.
It seems iPhoto cannot import the raw file from my new camera.

How do I upload pics from a sony digital camera (cybershot, about a year old)? I figured it would automatically detect the camera and get going, but nothing is really happening. Its probably really simple, but I have never done it before.

I'm using an iMac OS X 10.2.8. When I plug in my Sony Cybershot (4.1 Mega Pixels) digital camera, the iMac will not read the ScanDisk Memory Stick Pro Duo (512 MB). If I remove the memory card it will read the internal memory of the camera. When I first bought the memory stick it worked just fine but now I get these two error messages.

After installing Snow Leopard on both of my computers, I have found that while the computers recognize my digital camera it will not allow me to import photos into i-photo and eventually you have to just force quit i-photo to get out of it.

I suddenly cannot access the several thousand photos in my iPhoto Library. I believe my computer must have automatically downloaded and upgraded the version I previously had. Now I get an error message that reads: The photo library needs to be upgraded to work with this version of iPhoto. Your photo library will not be readable by previous versions of iPhoto after the upgrade. The upgrade process for very large libraries may take an hour or more to complete. I still need my images able to be read by previous versions since I go back and forth editing between older desktops. Is there a way to access the photo library without okaying the upgrade? If I reinstall an older version of iPhoto, will I lose the existing library of photos?

I just imported some photos into IPhoto 09 and shortly afterwards my IMac did a hard shut down. Now when I open IPhoto I get the following error:
The Photo Library nees to be upgraded to work with this version of IPhoto.
After that I click on upgrade and get the following msg:
Can't open current photo library using this version of Iphoto.
Thought I'd start this thread for people to discover/add any info they have on what iPhoto Faces is doing behind the scenes to help with troubleshooting, since Apple doesn't have any preferences for Faces in the iPhoto GUI. This is only for people who like to understand what is happening behind the scenes. Please note this is not for everyone and anytime you do anything to your iPhoto library you risk corruption and should have a backup copy. What I've noticed so far:
- iPhoto scans the library the first time it opens, and creates 2 faces .db files with the iPhoto Library:
face_blob.db
face.db
- iPhoto creates Faces thumbnails files and places them in the iPhoto Library/Data folder along with the other thumbnails it creates................
I cannot open my iphoto because i am constantly receiving the message "the application quit unexpectedly" I have tried everything!!!!first & foremost I have archived & installed osx already 2 times.I have tried holding down the options key and building a new library..doesnt work.I have typed in fsck -fy and rebooted and rebuilt disk permissions.i cant seem to find the file .com.apple.iphoto etc its not in my preference folders to erase it
