May 4, 2010I was wondering if the chargers that the 85w chargers that were only available for the 15 and 17 inch macbook pro be able to charge the 13 inch as well? And if it can, will it arrise any problems? (eg: Overheating, charging to only a limit, different size etc).

Jun 5, 2012back in November my charger finally bit the dust. I put off getting another for months thinking there would be no issues buying a new one. Yesterday I finally went out and bought a new charger. The people at the store told me that the newest L-shaped chargers probably wouldn't work with my old 2008 laptop. They said this was because the new chargers only work with Snow Leopard and I apparently have Leopard. I WAS FURIOUS. I called Apple to see if this was true, and the guy on the phone told me that all the information he gathered suggested that the charger would work. So I bought the charger, plugged it into my laptop, and only a dim green light is showing on the charger. I've tried a number of things to get it to work including : cleaning the connection with alcohol and qtips, trying to turn on the laptop without the battery, and resetting the SMC. How do I get it to work?

Mar 15, 2012My Macbook Air got delivered yesterday and already the charger is broken. I cant wait 4 days for delivery of a new charger by Apple and cant get an appointment in an Apple store until Saturday afternoon to get it looked at. This is all totally riciculous, but if the ipad charger works with my Macbook, then I will buy one in my lunch hour.

MacBook Pro :: Will Not Charge Even When Charger Is Plugged In And Working
Dec 4, 2014I have been using my MacBook pro for a lot of film editing and motion graphics. Recently, I noticed that my battery kept going down, even when charging. I thought nothing on it and kept using it. After around 4 hours, the battery went from 90% to 23% WHILE plugged in. This got me nervous. When I plug in the MagSafe charger, the light comes on and I get the "charging" symbol in my toolbar. The light turns orange and then, after a few minutes, the power starts to go down instead of up.Â
The laptop does charge, but only when I am running no application, when the screen is shut or when the laptop is powered off. Bear in mind that right now, I am on Firefox, that is the only application open, yet the charge is still going down. I assumed it was because I was using Premiere CS6, After Effects CS6 and Cinema4D, but now even when they are not open, the batter will not charge when I am using the laptop.Â
I am currently only running Firefox and Finder. Now the laptop is charging as usual. However the second I open up Premiere, After Effects etc, it goes down.

Was working fine the first couple of times but has only been used about three times and is kept nice and safely out of the way of a boisterous toddler so no chance of any damage. Is there anything i should have done and haven't (although can't for the life of me think what) or is it a trip back to the AS?

Sep 12, 2010So I have a Late 2009 Macbook Pro, it came with the original magsafe adapter. The adapter doesn't always work all the time, sometimes theres a really dim green light.
One of the prongs that go into the wall is slightly bent so it might be because of that.
My question is will Apple replace this charger for me? Do they give the new magsafe adapters as replacements or will they give me an old one?

Oct 21, 2010I have had my 13 in macbook pro for about three months and suddenly it does not charge when it is plugged in. In the last week this has started to happen but upon fussing with the connection like unplugging and replugging in the magnet charger it would start for a while and stop randomly. Now I can not get the computer to charge at all no matter how much I fuss. Do I need a new adapter or is there some other problem?

Jun 14, 2008I have had my MacBook (aluminum) for 6 days, and all of a sudden i go to plug it in to charge (10% left) and the led on the magsafe doesn't come on and the computer doesn't recorgnize the charger (even in system profiler).
upon closer inspection i noticed the LED is on on the magsafe, it is just a very faint shade of green.I have tried a charger from a different MacBook but no luck. And i have also tried my charger and a different macbook and it charged it just fine.. so it's probably not my charger.
Any ideas?? i know i can go get it replaced.. but i would really like to not have to take a 45 minute drive to the apple store if i can avoid it.. (unless this problem is serious and should be replaced) also, if i get a replacement is it possible for them to just swap my HDD with the new one?

Dec 19, 2008Frustrated. To my excitement, I purchased this display last week. In my previous thread, I posted that it looks stunning and works as it should. Well, last night I was using the display, then I noticed a color change on screen. Overall tone of the display turns "greenish" and turns back to normal. A few moments later it turns "cooler" then back to normal. The "discoloration" is for five seconds or so. And it's very irregular. I might be over-stating when I say discoloration, but the overall color changes back and forth. BUT not all the time. I thought my eyes were wrong. But the problem is, it's not a constant issue. If my screen was flickering or had distorted images I could understand that it's defective. The symptom that I just explained doesn't even happen unless I use it for hours. So these might be issues with this:
1. Running it too long. I've had the display on and was working on it for hours. But then, why won't I be able to use it for hours? Even if I had decided to keep the display at full blast for hours and days, this shouldn't happen.
2. 10.5.6 update. I have no conclusive evidence that the recent OS X update had to do anything to my mini display port and external monitor capabilities, but since some have reported issues with it, it could be the cause.
I would hate to drag it down to a local Apple store to meet with one of the genius guys or ship it in for a repair/replacement. I already know what's going to happen at the Apple Store; one genius guy would ask what the problem is and after I explain it to him, he won't see the problem in front. And repair/replacement takes too long.

Aug 11, 2010The Apple one looks tempting as it comes with 6 batteries and 29€ isn't too much, plus, as usual, it looks brilliant. I looked at some 3rd party chargers as well ranging from 20€ to 40€. None of them was stunning or special by any means. Cheaper ones usually came with two or four batteries and some came without batteries. I don't really need it for else than Magic Mouse, occasionally for something else too.

Dec 28, 2009When I turned on Caliope -my macbook- yesterday in the morning, she appeared to have problems to boot, there was a grey bar which has never appeared before, the grey bar was loading but hen it reached half way, everything stopped and Caliope crashed -automatically turned off- Been reading about the global crashes, I'd installed SL last weed so I think that's the prob.
I've posting cause I've a LaCie External HD and I could log in using it, I can also log in on my windows bootcamp partition which is called Mathusalem.
Now If I send my Mac to apple repair, there is any need to backup Mathusalem? As it is a partition drive.

May 26, 2010So I come home and see that my MBP's battery is dead. I plug it in and it begins to start-up normally but shuts down midway through. I press the power button and keys several times but nothing happens. The weird part is the fans still run and it still gets very hot. When you close it the sleep indicator light still turns on.
Note: I tried to reset the PRAM but nothing happens.
Note2: Its the low end 15' model (arrandale)

May 4, 2012my Macbook Pro 17" early 2008 (modell 4,1) had it's motherboard changed a week ago (the video card issue). I am running Snow Leaopard 10.6.8.
I decided to install Windows 7 on this machine, preparing a partition via Bootcamp, and ran into the following issue: each time I try to boot the Mac from the Windows 7 install DVD (official one), I get a black screen with a blinking cursor.
Now, of course I searched the web, tried a lot of things, burned several DVDs in different ways, from the original DVD as well as from .iso files downloaded from MS, nothing helped.
After some time, I head the idea to try my DVDs on another Mac, an iMac to be exact, and they all work!Â
So, it looks as if it is my machine that causes the trouble... but its motherboard is new, so it should not be a hardware issue.Â
MacBook Air :: Refuses To Boot From 3rd Party DVD Drive?
May 9, 2008Ok I connected my Air to a LG drive GSA-E50L USB DVD drive. It seems to work fine in Windows and OS X. For booting it does work with the OS X dvd's.
However, it refuses to boot from a Windows XP installation disk.
I've tried different boot disks aswell. No luck.
When I boot pressing the option key, the DVD drive is one of the options. It says "Windows CD". I then choose it. It starts reading the CD and then the apple sign is displayed. The apple sign changes into a stop sign and goes back to the apple sign again.
Does anyone know what is going on?
Has anyone been able to boot from a Windows disk with a non Apple USB drive?
Windows On Mac :: Vista Refuses To Install On MacBook
Apr 10, 2009I have tried partitioning my drive and I set the partition to 32gb. Okay, that's done and everything went well. Then I put in Windows Vista Home Premium cd and clicked start installation. done! So it rebooted. I tried letting it load by itself and not touch anything, also tried pressing the option key and clicking windows. But both came out with the same result: a grey screen forever and ever. I even tried letting it remain like this for an hour, but still the grey screen of death. I know the vista cd works as I've tried using it in vmware fusion. But vmware fusion is too laggy as I only have 1 gb of ram. Also, I even tried reformatting it twice in case there was maybe something that hindered it from loading but no still greyness.

Aug 18, 2009Around 2 months ago, the local AASP techs, working together with Apple Asia techs, finally agreed to replace the top case, fans, and superdrive of my uMBP. At that time, neither the tech nor myself could detect any vibration on the uMBP keyboard, and I took my uMBP home satisfied. After a month, I thought I was beginning to feel some vibration on the TAB key, but it was so slight I dismissed it as something psychological, perhaps even trauma from the previous episode which lasted for weeks. Now it's back with a vengeance. I treat my uMBP with kid gloves. I clean its whole surface every week.
I rarely take it anywhere. I've never bumped or dropped it. I've even bought an external keyboard and mouse so that I won't wear its keyboard and trackpad. In fact, I've even restricted my use of the 9600 graphics chip, preferring to use the 9400 as much as possible to avoid taxing the fans. I mean, if some/most keys were vibrating, then I could say that it could be a loose/poorly positioned keyboard/fan(s), but if it's only the bloody TAB key. I've gone through three fan changes and one top case replacement after all.
