MacBook Pro :: How To Clean My Trackpad

Jun 27, 2010

I've had it for about a month and have noticed my trackpad is having some serious discoloration (from finger oils I'm assuming). I know the #1 rule is to search and I didn't find any cleaning tips for the trackpad. Just wanted to get some long time users input.

MacBook Pro :: How Can I Clean Under The MB Trackpad Button

Jan 22, 2008

So, first of all, here's some advice: Don't leave your macbook open, on the floor. You never know what cups you've left there.

In other news, I spilled coke (the soda) on my macbook keyboard/trackpad. I put it on the floor because I thought that it would keep it cooler, since I was installing something and the fans were going *******.

The keys seem fine, but now the trackpad button has a sticky feeling and sound to it, which is very annoying/disconcerting. Is this a genius bar job, or can I get in there and clean it myself?

It's mostly cosmetic, as the trackpad still works, but I wonder what will happen as the coke starts a new life under there congealing and whatever.

MacBook Air :: Glass Trackpad 11" - Bottom Line Air Trackpad Seems More Polished

Dec 21, 2010

I have an late 08 unibody Mbp and a 11 mba, I have noticed the glass trackpad on the air is much closer to the glass on an iphone in the way your finger reacts to it... the least bit of moisture and your finger doesn't glide as easily. On the pro it seems to have more of a coating to allow for smoother use under these normal conditions (humidity). Has anyone else noticed this? bottom line the air trackpad almost seems more polished.

MacBook :: Disable MB Trackpad Button But Not The Whole Trackpad?

Apr 8, 2009

My MB's trackpad button is spoilt, I think there's something wrong with the spring which makes it unclickable and sometimes remains pressed.

Is there anyway to disable only the trackpad button but not the whole trackpad? Tapping still works, but the MB mistakens it as dragging sometimes because the button is stuck as a pressed button.

MacBook Pro :: Trackpad Making Squeaking Sound / Sound Comes When I Depress Trackpad

Jan 13, 2009

Every time I depress my trackpad (the one built into my MBP 15" mid 2009) It is doing a slight squeak...Now I'm meticulous about how well I keep my beloved MBP... but I do use it everyday for many things (Including design, word processing, accounts, pwning the microsoft network at my office)

But I am guessing that these things are built to last... and shouldn't have an effect on how much I have used it right... Should I take it to Apple and let them have a look at it is there a quick thing that I can do to mend it? Or should I just get over it and accept it as quirk of it's character?

MacBook Pro :: How To Clean Fans

Apr 13, 2008

I've been advised to clean my MBP fan's out with compressed air, since I've owned it for 6 months now. So my question is, where would I actually spray the compressed air without opening the chassis? I'm scared to use it on the keyboard because I've heard keys popping off that way, and wondering if I spray into the vent below the screen, I would just blow the dust deeper into the computer...

OS X :: Best Way To Clean Macbook Screen?

May 11, 2008

My Macbook screen is getting a bit dusty, and when outside I can see there are a few smears on it too, so I'm looking to give it a good clean so that it returns to its former glory.

What's the best way of doing this? I don't particularly want to use water, but a piece of toilet roll run across the screen gently doesn't really give it the clean that it needs!

MacBook :: How Do You Do A 'clean Install?

Jul 4, 2009

Basically, the guys at the Apple store said the hard drive on my 2008 entry-level Mac book had died so I went out and bought a new one from Western Digital.

But when reinstalling, the screen froze on 'verifying destination volume', then packs up and suggests I start again.

Searching this forum I see that others have had this problem and that one solution is to perform a 'clean install'. My question is, how do I go about doing that?

Is this the same on a Mac or does a Mac stay "cleaner" as you use it (if that makes sense..)?
