View 6 Replies purchased a macbook Unibody back in October 2008 when they were released and use it heavily. The battery no longer holds a nice long charge - I get about 2 to 2.5 hours out of a full charge.
The battery has 149 cycles on it, which is obviously high (and correct, I use the hell out of it). With it still being in warranty, is it worth pursuing a replacement battery? Will Apple tell me to go take a hike with the high cycle counts?
im just curious (and maybe a slight bit worried) about how long my macbook air should last on a full battery. it seems like it gets less and less all the time. its not my primarily used cmputer (i use my iMac mostly) but i still use my MBA most days whether it be in bed or on my travels to friends' houses etc.
when i do use it ive usually got a socket handy so its always charging and when its in the house not being used, its pretty much always on charge which means the battery running out isnt a big deal but the few times i actually don't have the MBA on charge it seems to run out pretty quickly. i do tend to run a lot of programs, however.
When you MBA reaches 0% charge - it auto sleeps the machine in hopes that you will soon charge it.
how long you have to actually get it plugged in?
I had the white model from 2006 and it lasted around 3 hours.
My Aluminum MacBook lasts 4.5 to 5 hours, depending on if I watch video
It lasts 2.5 to 3 if I'm watching or editing video
Just bought a new MB unibody! How long should I charge battery on first charge? Also, can I use it or do I need to fully charge first???
View 12 Replies View RelatedI have a 15" MBP (2.66Ghz, late 2008), I usually don't have WiFi turned off, so I just wanted to know how long does it usually last with WiFi off and semi-high brightness setting for the display. The only activity is typing in Word and maybe a few non intensive Photoshop stuff.
I'd like to get an estimate because I have no power adapters where I'll be using it.
My laptop's 1-year warranty includes battery and the battery does not last long anymore. Does this mean that I can get a new battery with the warranty?

View 1 Replies View RelatedMine only lasted 2hrs 30min on full charge (4th cycle. 4 day old), did the calibration and then it's now lasting about 4 hours. (it showed 7 hours in the beginning but number changed quickly as I opened Safari and browse online)
10 Hours? Come on Steve! Even with the dimmest light, bluetooth off, wireless off, no application running i've never seen 10 hours on MBP13". Not even 9 nor 8.
And I found this article.
"Macworld's 13"MBP Review: The 10-Hour Battery Lasts Four Hours"

At least the author was playing Quicktime video...me? Nothing much and 4 hours. (Factory defect?)
What do you think about this battery from Batterygeek?
Specs:
130 Wh
16 or 19 volts output
1.7 lbs
This should give 4.5 times the normal operating time. Should be possible to watch demanding movies for about 7 hours, or do less demanding things for 18 hours.
I'm not sure if the voltage is too high or within limits. The Air magsafe seems to output 14.5 volts.
how long is the battery on the macbook air?
View 11 Replies View RelatedI have a 2.16 C2D macbook bought in end of May last year. My battery only lasts about 2 hrs right now. Which is definetly shorter than when I originally got it. I bought the full applecare for it which has another 1.7 yrs on it.

I can only get 4:16hrs each time.
I have noticed that lately, my MBP Mid-2009 battery isn't lasting as long on a single charge as it used to. So, I downloaded and ran coconut Battery (attached results). After 152 Charges - I'm getting 90% battery capacity. Is there a way I can improve on that. Or, is this number about right for the age of the MacBook Pro?

It seems like I'm always having to charge the battery. I was just wondering how many hours should I be getting from a fully charged battery.
View 1 Replies View RelatedI have an iPhone 4 and am strongly considering buying the MB Air 11.6in. I'd like to get an external battery that I could use for long flights, that in a pinch, could be used with either the iPhone or the MBA.

View 16 Replies View RelatedI have a MacBook and my strategy is to keep it plugged in as much as possible to avoid using charge cycles. If I use it down to 50%, then get home, I'll plug it in so I've only used half a cycle. Then when I'm just using it around the house, I try to keep it plugged in.
My friend has a completely different strategy. At the Apple Store, one of the salesmen told him that he should use it down to almost nothing and then charge it back up again. He would never plug it in at 50%, but wait until it is 10% or less. He gave me this analogy: if you have a bottle of milk in the refrigerator and you have a cow outside, you refill the bottle when it is empty. If you keep refilling the bottle when it is only half empty, that milk is going to go bad. He really doesn't understand how it works himself, but said something about the battery's memory? I never imagined that a battery would have its own little memory or something, but now that he mentioned it, it does seem reasonable.
I recently bought a Macbook Pro 15" i7. I was just wondering what kind of battery life you guys are getting
Right now it's showing 6:12 with 93 percent intel hd graphics, with Microsoft Word, iTunes, and Google Chrome on

I run the keyboard and screen at max-brightness, airport on, and 15 things open. I get 2 hours of battery life, I'd like another hour or so.

Last night I had a weird experience with my mid-2011 MacBook Pro; I went out to dinner and came back to find the cat had kicked the power cord out, draining the battery. I've had this happen before and wasn't too worried; it's always just restarted after I plugged it back in. This time, however, I plugged it in (getting, perplexingly, a green light on the cord) and nothing happened except for the sleep light slowly flashing; it didn't respond to any pressing on the power button, and the sleep light disappeared if I unplugged the cord. The battery test button on the side got one flashing light (meaning, I believe, a dead battery), which also didn't work if the computer was unplugged.
I left it plugged in while I hunted for info on the problem and about an hour later had just decided that I was going to have to take it in to the Genius Bar when it suddenly booted up. The cord light turned orange and it proceeded to fully recharge over the next two hours. Is this normal behavior after a battery drain? Should I be concerned? Is it worth taking the computer in to get the battery checked, or some other element of the comp? (some of the things I looked at were talking about the logic board, which is not a happy thought) iStat Pro claims the battery is at 41% health, 111 cycles, which I would think would mean it has some life in it yet.

After installing Adobe CS6 Master Collection, i noticed during start up that the battery and wifi icon loads too long, it took about a minute before they will show up, and when i point to that area, the pointer turns to beach ball..

Macbook Air isn't a year old and I don't leave it plugged in ever. The battery might last 2 hours and gets very hot. In addition the fan runs at a very high speed. The computer won't shut down in a normal way. I have to hold the power button down to shut it off.

i've had my macbook for a little under a year and i think i may have shortened my battery power. i have a tendency to leave my laptop plugged in long past the fully charged time and allow it to run through the battery till it shuts down. i do this when i accidentally fall asleep listening to music or leave for work and forget it's on or plugged in. how hard on the battery or laptop is it to do this repeatedly? when it's fully charged it tells me i have roughly 4 hours of battery power available. is that the right amount? is there anything i should do to protect the battery? the manufacturer warranty will be up in march, should i take it in for a check up while i may have the option of not having to pay for it?
