MacBook Pro :: Drivers To Be Used In Win7 For 330M?

May 4, 2010

Standard bootcamp drivers are quite old so I went to upgrade the drivers from nVidia.com; I noticed that nVidia doesn't support the 330M under its driver page, am I to assume the 330M is an Apple specific part? Will nVidia support the 330M in an upcoming release?

MacBook Pro :: 330m BootCamp Overclock In Win7

Apr 23, 2010

I know a couple guys in the MBP refresh gaming thread were able to overclock using Nvidia Tools. I'm not having any luck; the sliders are grayed out and I can't make any changes with system tools 6.06. I've also got errors when trying to install Nvidia drivers other than the ones included with Bootcamp. What driver/system tools version are you using to OC? And what settings have you tried? (I'm on Windows 7 64bit).

Mac Pro :: Win7 Drivers For 4870/GTX 285

Dec 19, 2009

I grabbed a new i7 iMac, and have found the Bootcamp drivers to be lacking, mainly causing display driver crashes. I just loaded up the newest from ATi, but its too soon, to tell if that fixes it. I'm considering returning the iMac and getting a Mac Pro instead. Just curious if this problem still persists on the Mac Pro or not in Windows 7. And if I get full driver access control, as you would with a typical PC? (I noticed that Catalyst Control Suite on the iMac doesn't install, it will only install the drivers, so no fine-tuning access the Control Suite typically affords you)

OS X :: Win7 On Mac - Cannot Install Drivers

I run Windows 7 fine, but I want to install drivers from the OS X CD, but when I put it in the laptop, I get some weird messages as: Remote Install OS X - Install CD/DVD Sharing - It should be a bootcamp program that should show up, I've heard. Windows On Mac :: How To Install Win7 Drivers

Oct 31, 2009

I've tried looking all over and am totally confused with what works with what and how to do it. I am looking at installing windows 7 x64 on either the lower spec 13inch macbook pro, or the lower spec 21.5inch imac. Installing windows 7 itself is so easy, but how do i get the drivers installed and which work? I know I should use the bootcamp drivers for vista off of the OS X disk but is it as simple as inserting the disk, navigating to the folder and running whatever? And does everything work for both the systems I mentioned? Including sound etc., and if not, how do I get it to work.

Windows On Mac :: Installing Drivers For Win7 64-bit

Jul 2, 2010

I have MacBook Pro 5.5 MacOsX Ver 10.6.4 with Windows 7 64 bit installed via Boot Camp. The instructions clearly indicate I need to update Mac Drivers for Windows. I have no idea where to install the drivers, on the Mac side or on the Windows side. I tried to install the driver updates for Windows 7 64 bit on the Mac side and when I clicked on the down load the preview window was garbage gobbi speak.

The only thing legible in English was at the top it said for Windows 32 bit. I clearly clicked twice on the download link for 64 bit. Before I go any further would someone be kind enough to direct me to the proper install for the drivers telling me which partition to do the updates, Win side or Mac side? I installed Win7 from a new install. This was not an upgrade disc. Also have Office 2010 installed.

Windows On Mac :: Sysprep Win7 With BootCamp Drivers

Nov 22, 2010

I haven't actually done this. I just want feedback. We have a 'universal' ghost image of Windows 7 at work that we've created that works with all our computers (has all the drivers for computers we support). I'm looking to piggyback that image and just add in the BootCamp drivers. However I'm curious to know:

-Which BootCamp drivers would I be adding to the sysprep drivers folder? BootCamp 3.0, 3.1 or 3.2?
-Would the drivers be enough or does Windows actually need the BootCamp software installed?
-If BootCamp needs to be installed in its entirety, is there a way to have BootCamp silently install upon boot? More importantly, is there a way to install BootCamp 3.2 without having to go through 3.0 -> 3.1 -> 3.2.

Mac Pro :: AHCI Drivers Installed And Still Not Booting Into Win7

Nov 5, 2009

I am not using any raid at all on my 2008 mac pro. All I want to do is achieve using SATA drives via the ODD ports on my logic board to boot windows. I know it can be done. In case you don't believe me, here is the PROOF that shows I have installed the AHCI drivers successfully in windows: Under IDE ATA/ATAPI controllers, the following exists:
Intel(R) 631xESB6321ESB/3100 Chipset Serial ATA Storage Controller, and underneath that says the following:
Intel(R) ESB2 SATA AHCI Controller.

That said, the matrix control console identifies all my 6 ports correctly. But when I go and hook up my SATA bootcamp hard drive to the ODD_SATA Port on my board, it doesn't boot! Why?? I went through all that trouble to install AHCI drivers in bootcamp annd it doesn't boot up at all? Yes, I would like to boot windows via ODD_Ports, but each time I do this it doesn't seem to boot. I am afraid to use a SATA optical drive, as the same thing will happen again. However, it appears that when I am in bootcamp, all my drives are recognized and working.

What do I need to do to get the ODD_SATA ports to recognize the AHCI during boot up(not while in Bootcamp)? I don't understand why it won't boot, after installing the matrix storage drivers for AHCI? I am leaving you with my skype id so you can chat with me on what to do here. Psychomacuser343 is my skype, while nadav333 is my AIM. As I said, I have tried everything, and while the ODD_SATA ports boot on the mac side, Even with the AHCI drivers in bootcamp, can't get bootcamp booted unless I remove it from the ODD_SATA port. Also, I managed to install one sata cable and not needing to mod my case fan.

Windows On Mac :: Unable To Install Win7 Drivers

Jan 13, 2010

So I've finally got all the partitions sorted out from my previous OS setup, and go to install Windows 7. Partway through the setup (just after asking language) it asks for CD/DVD drivers. Okay, I'll try eject the disk. Nope, eject key not working. So I can't put the disk with all the drivers in. I'll copy the drivers to my external HDD. When I browse for them, I am told there's nothing there. So, I don't know. I can't install the drivers it would seem (unless someone can find the CD/DVD drivers for windows?) and therefor cannot continue with the installation because it wont let me click next until these damn drivers are installed. Windows 7 64 bit, by the way.

I'm trying to install Windows 7 Ultimate 64 bit on my late 2008 MacBook Pro and everything went smoothly until it came time for me to pop in my Snow Leopard disk and install the drivers. When I put the disk in I get a window called "Install Assistant" that has two options: "Remote Install Mac OS X" for MacBook Air computers and "DVD or CD Sharing" again for MacBook Air computers. This doesn't seem right. Shouldn't I get a window that lets me install the necessary drivers for Windows 7? I've also tried my 10.5 Leopard disk with the same result. I have also tried downloading the BootCamp 3.1 update, but when I attempt to install it I receive a message telling me that in order to install Boot Camp 3.1 I need to have BootCamp 3.0 or higher.

Dec 31, 2010

So I just sold my MB and am going to be upgrading to a MBP. I have been reading up on the current ones and have seen that almost everyone reccomends going with the 15" 2.44ghz vs the 2.66, as the ~$400 difference is not justified. What still sways me towards the higher end 15" is that the 330m has 512mb vs the 256mb in the base model. I will be using it for games such as The Sims 3, Civilizations, and SC II. I will also be using PS as well. Will I notice a huge performance difference between the 512 and the 256?

I got sick of that glossy screen and that's why I've stepped towards the i5 Anti glare.

Anyway I'd simply like to know if I'm about to loose some perf with the new GPU having only 256 Mo VRAM compared to my old 9600 with 512.

Concretely, I'll be playing Starcraft 2 on my MBP's screen, so no external screen and huge resolution.

Do you think it'll be better with the i5 spec ? Same ? Worse ?

MacBook Pro :: Overclocking The GT 330m Guide - Benchmarks

May 30, 2010

I would first like to start off with the disclaimer that I am not good at writing guides and I am also not a pro with overclocking but here is my attempt at both. Also I am not liable for damages to your computer and ask fobis has mentioned each gpu even if they are the same may overclock better or worse then the next. So take my overclocking numbers for what they are worth. Experiment and try it out on your own.

Note: This guide assumes your running Windows 7 64bit, and also it assumes that you are new to overclocking.

-------------------------------GUIDE------------------------------
1.First make sure you have a copy of windows installed through bootcamp.

2.Then go ahead and install the drivers that came with bootcamp ( we won't be using the gpu drivers but the rest are going to be useful anyway so might as well go ahead and install them )

3.After you have all that you will want to go here to get a modified driver. This will give you better performance then the bad drivers that apple supplies it will also let you overclock the gpu

4.After you have downloaded both the driver and the INF file open up the driver and it will extract the files to the directory that you choose. It will also try to launch the install but it will fail saying something like " no compatible hardware found " ignore this for now.

5.Now take the INF file and copy it to the folder that the driver was extracted too. It will ask you if you want to overwrite the file just say yes.

6.Now open up the device manager by right clicking on my computer, selecting properties, this should open a new window and on the left there should be something that says device manager.

7.Under the tab that says "display adapters" select the only device that shows up on that tab. Right click it and choose uninstall.

8.After you have done that it will likely mess up your resolution and set it too 800x600 don't worry this is normal. Now just restart your computer.

9.Once you have restarted when it starts back up it will say new hardware found. Now you have to choose to install it manually choose the option that says something along the lines of " search for drivers in specified area "

10.Now it will take you to a new page and on that page there should be an option that says "have disk" choose this and select the directory that you extracted the driver too earlier in this guide. It should find one of the files that it can use and install it just fine.

11.You will need to restart again once this is done but when you start back up your resolution should be fixed if not just right click and hit screen resolution and just change it back to the native resolution.

12. Download Nvidia system tools found here

13. Go ahead and install this it should be self explanatory.

14. Once it is installed open the program and go to the performance tab on the left. ( It might ask you to agree to some terms of use )

15. Just put in these numbers and hit apply
646 for the first one
864 for the second one
and 1314 for the third one

Now your done if your paranoid like me of overheating your computer you can also optionally download and install LubbosFanControl to max out your fans to keep it as cool as possible.

Enjoy your faster GPU!.

Another note: The highest GPU temp underload from Crysis got up to about 78C after about 15mins of running the game. Furmark got the temp up to 80C though after about 15mins also.

I have also played TF2 at max settings @ 1920x1200 for over 2 hours to test stability and it ran fine without any hiccups

Also I feel that this card can be pushed further then this ( I have not tried ) but from what I see it cools a lot better then I expected from a laptop I come from a world of desktop overclocking.

MacBook Pro :: Nvidia 9400M Vs Geforce 330m

Jun 1, 2010

The 9400M was in older Macbook Pros and I've seen many videos where people run crysis on high/very high and have pretty good FPS. The laptops arent as fast as the newer ones, but yet my MBP (specs down below) which is faster, can only run crysis on medium at around 30 FPS, unless i wanted 5 FPS with high. The only reasoning for this, to me at least, is that the 330M chip is not as good. Is this the case? If so, why the hell did the graphics chip get downgraded? Here is a link to one of the vids I was talking about: [URL:....] This guy is using the demo for his vid. when i use the demo, it doesnt even give me the option of using very high settings, and when i'm on high, my screen flashes in and out, i get random lines across the screen, and then my computer freezes.
