Drag and Drop not working since last software update - this is occuring on Outlook for the mac and I just tried moving an icon on the doc and the same thing occured. YOu can drag but the items will not drop.

View 1 Replies View RelatedLately was experiencing a very bad malfunction from my PowerBook G4 drag and drop. As far as I know for this feature, we are able to drag then hold while we move our mouse over to a desired folder or destination, that selected folder will spring up it's internal folders' view. However this seems not to be working any further. Anyone knows what could be the issue? I was unable to find this piece of advise from else where and hence decided to seek advises from here.

In other words: If I download (I prefer to download onto my desktop rather than the download folder-window. I want to have control over ny desktop again (rather than the folder-window entitled "desktop".

View 6 Replies View RelatedI've noticed that I can add folders from network shares (in this case samba) to my sidebar in finder but I can't seem to add the actual share folder.So if my server has the share stuff and inside stuff there is a folder named documents I can drag that folder to places in my sidebar but I can't do the same with stuff. I recently bought a Macbook Air which I am still getting used to. I had an older Macbook with a mouse because I disliked the trackpad on the Macbook; the Air trackpad is much nicer but I can't seem to drag and drop anything in stacks. Is there a setting or gesture that is not mentioned in the Apple documentation? I have tried everything that I can think of and nothing has worked.

I have attached several mouses and tried the track pad and even tried to fix it with system prefrences but found nothing is working. Having issues with trackpad, specifically not able to drag and drop Tried changing the setting in control panel (preferences) but with no changes. Also looked at permission associated with a particular file but again ... same problem, its a global. Ran OnyX maintenance and clean up, attempted to use diskwarrior but need to upgrade to 4.4.Had no real chance to search forum yet so the answer maybe waiting to be accessed.

I am no longer able to drag and drop. I can't drag a file from one folder to another or to the trashcan. I can't pick things up and move them in any application, such as Photoshop or Illustrator. When I attempt to drag something, I click, the cursor picks it up, and then I can't drop it anywhere. Everywhere I move the mouse, the object or icon goes. Nothing I do will make it drop. I have to command+option+esc to open up Force Quit. Once I force quit the application I initiated the drag in, the problem goes away. The problem is not associated with the trackpad. It persists even when using my old USB mouse and with my mighty mouse. I have all one-touch settings turned off. See attached screen caps of my trackpad, mouse, and universal access settings.

IF you cannot drag and drop in iTunes for Mac then the issue is your Windows Mouse. Use a Apple Mouse or the Touchpad. It will solve the problem.

View 1 Replies View RelatedI have most of my music hosted on an FTP server, so I'm looking for a way to drag and drop from the FTP server (connected either through Finder, or any other client) into iTunes, and then have iTunes copy the music to my library. That way I don't have to download it to my local HDD, then import into iTunes, then delete the orginal. Just skipping a ton of extra work if I can drag and drop. Currently, I only get disconnected from the server if I try to drag and drop from Finder, and get nothing from Filezilla, and Transmit.

So, I hate the tap to click and I can't stand the unibody trackpad click and drag. I can't seem to keep it depressed and drag across the entire High Res screen. Is there any alternative? Say a key I can hold to lock the click so I don't have to keep the pad depressed?

I can start dragging fine, but once I start the mouse pointer won't let go, even if I release the button, and nothing will cause the pointer to drop the item being dragged save killing the application I was dragging from. It's especially infuriating when dragging items around on the Dock, because when you're dragging a Dock icon you can't select items with the mouse, and earlier today I had to use a series of keyboard shortcuts to get to the terminal to kill it.) A restart will usually fix this, but it inevitably pops up again. It happens with both my Mac's trackpad and my Magic Mouse, so it might not be a hardware issue but I'm not sure. I previously used JiTouch for additional gestures, but I don't think it's the cause as the issue crops up even when JiTouch is completely disabled + uninstalled.
View 2 Replies View RelatedI have had this problem for a long as I have had Mac OS X 10.5 Leopard. The problem is that drag & drop works intermittently for applications such as the Finder, iTunes, Fetch, etc.
My workaround for the Finder was to switch from list view to column view, but for programs like Fetch or iTunes, I cannot do that. Sometimes the solution is to relaunch the application, but this is not guaranteed.
