View 5 Replies View RelatedSometimes my MBP will randomly "forget" it's color profile after waking up from sleep or screensaver. It doesn't happen very often, maybe less than once a month now. I know a few other people have had this problem, and as far as I know the issue is unresolved, with the solution being "go into display settings and it will change back" but there was nothing that could be done to prevent it from changing.
View 1 Replies View Relatedso everyone knows the little black arrows under the dock icons when they are open... Well my question is if anyone knows a way to change their color! I had seen OrangeSVTguy talk about it before but there was never an explanation on how! I am looking to change them to green!
View 8 Replies View RelatedI just got moved to a MBP 13" early 2011 from Windows. I have a Dell SP2309W monitor which i love. On the winows machine i could select the color space output between ypbpr and rgb and configure the monitor accordingly even with an HDMI cable. I cannot however find the same option in OSX Lion. The ypbpr color space is giving me a headache. I know what colors this monitor is capable of and I don't see them since i moved to MBP, the picture is now kind of purplish, the red color is unnatural ( I doubt a photo would give the idea). No playing around with the color profiles does any good. I'm begining to think that to my MBP my monitor is just a TV. I'm also thinking that a way of solving this is getting a mDP - DVI adapter, so perhaps the monitor would make the RGB mode a priority since it's connected through DVI.

I'm not sure why, but there seems to be a void of information regarding changing the menu bar color in Leopard. I've searched here, but seem to find only a single recommendation: MenuShade (which I understand is buggy with Leopard). Most of the other discussion involves changing the transparency of the menu bar, or changing the color of icons in the menu bar.
Two questions:
1) Is there some reason this isn't more commonly discussed? I would think this would be a very common request.
2) How can one change the color of the menu bar?

View 4 Replies View RelatedThis may be of interest of more of you. I want to be able to read easier when the background is white, especially pdf files, or webpages.
I did not find a solution for certain documents, to change a background without breaking the style. I'm using the lowest brightness but I found its easier to read when I make the background gray, for example in textEdit.
ideas for pdf files ?
Yesterday I installed the latest security updates for my ibook via software update. I'm not sure if this is related to my problem, but I thought I might as well mention it. A few hours after installing the updates, I turned on my computer. Everything was running fine, however as I was listening to music and surfing the internet, my screen turned black. I checked the contrast and it was all the way up. The screen then turned completely off. Upon restarting the computer, my screen got to the loading page with the apple icon and the loading circle, and then turned black and flickered every so often with a screen of vertical multi-colored bars.
I held down the power button to turn the screen off, and the flickering increased, before becoming completely covered by the multi-colored bars and then shutting off. This morning I tried again and my computer actually booted up. However, after a few seconds the screen went black, paused for a few seconds, then went completely red, then green, then blue, then three shades of gray, and finally black again. It repeated this cycle twice before the screen turned itself off. Is this a virus, or hardware/software malfunctioning. I've had my ibook for two years.
I have tried via preferences to change the standard color in which I type my

Is it in anyway possible to set mail that spacing between two lines are for example 2 lines or 1,5 ?
Is there a way, to change the cumbersome color labeling of mails in mail.app into a simple set of color label buttons in the toolbar?

If I clog the activity monitor up too much, the color wheel will come up, and I really hate it. I get very impatient when that happens - not because of it being there, but for some reason, the color wheel itself.
Is there a way to change it so that there is not the color wheel there, maybe something like a black and white color wheel or another gif.

View 13 Replies View RelatedSomething I've done in the past few days has caused Safari to not change color for visited links "only" on Google search pages, which is where it's most needed. This is still working fine on FireFox. I tried creating another user account and it works fine with that...just not with my primary account.
I've done all the typical things...repaired permissions, repaired disk, completely reset Safari to default and made sure all caches, etc. were cleaned out...both manually and with Onyx, reset associated .plist files, history, cookies, private browsing...
Returning to a Google search page still shows all visited links as blue, as if they'd never been visited. Another clue is if I log out of my Google account (which I have to be logged into 24/7 for Gmail, Google bookmarks, iGoogle, etc., it starts working, then stops working as soon as I log into my Google account again. I posted this on Google Groups but got no response.
This also works fine on my wife's Mac, so it's definitely a problem just in my user account. I know I could just add a new account and use that, but it would mean re-installing all 70 applications I have now installed as they're not setup for use except with my account. I'd like to avoid that and find the actual culprit. BTW, this worked fine for a long time...just quit working about a week ago, but it wasn't in conjunction with any new hardware or software.
before switching to Mac, I used an "X-Rite Eye One Display 2" color meter device with software. You can find them most places like Amazon for about $150. The device should still work, but I can't find any software for it for the Mac. After going to the X-Rite web site, I could find no software at all for the Mac as it is only windows based.
Surely someone out there has used a color meter such as this one as they are quite popular especially for graphics artists that use professional graphic monitors. I am hoping someone can tell me how to use my color meter (USB), what software for Mac Leopard I need and how to save the color profile in the Mac OS.
i really want to customize my macbook. i want to change the color logo to apple classic color. (but not for a while) the main thing i want to do is something like this [URL] the second picture to last. the guy with a suit and a hat, being covered with the apple logo. i want something like that, only not that image. you get the idea though. where can i get something like this? are they stickers as well? or are they laser engraved? i do not want it permanent on my macbook, since i get easily bored with the same look

View 24 Replies View RelatedI am considering whether or not I will get the backlit keyboard model or not. I want to save $300, but I also want to be able to see the keys (within reason).
I like my current PBG4's backlit keyboard, and sometimes find it necessary, however, it does have low contrast silver keys with white lettering. Since the Macbooks have black keys with white lettering, and therefore more contrast, I am wondering if this will improve visibility in low light conditions enough so I won't have to have the backlight.
Do any of you have the new MacBook sans backlit keyboard, and if so what are your impressions of being able to see the keys in a dim (not dark) room?
I've searched and it seems no more backlit keyboard?

View 1 Replies View RelatedI would believe having your backlit keyboard on max would kill the life span of the led lights? curious to know if anyone has it on max majority of the time to have the laptop look fancier rather then those who use the backlit accordingly to prolong its life time.
But in the cases for those who do set the backlit keyboard on max for a long time (speaking of months, even years) any issues with it? any led lights or keys breaking or stopped working?
I have a MBP on OS X version 10.6.8, the mid-2009 model. The problem: I can't get my keyboard to light up. When I press on the F5 and F6 button I see the image of the keyboard light pop up on the screen but it has a line through it telling me I can't do it. These feature worked a couple days ago, and I didn't change any settings since then. I have tried everything. I made sure the settings were right and reset them. I have tried to update my software which told me I was up to date. I have put my laptop in a pitch black room. I have covered the sensors. I have done an SMC reset as well as a PRAM reset. None of these things worked. I did download the LabTick app, which then I was able to light up my keyboard but I don't want to have to use a 3rd party application. I would like to have my keyboard adjust automatically. I have uninstalled LabTick.
