I have a problem with my 17'' MBP unibody:
1) Bluetooth is ON:
I can't turn it off. The checkbox is inactive.
But I can turn it off, if I choose "Share my internet connection for other units". (I don't know, if this is the right text in english, because my OSX is in german)
2) Now Bluetooth is OFF:
But I can't turn it on, because the checkbox "ON" is inactive.
It turns only on, if I choose "New Unit"(?). Then there is a new window, that says, that this is only possible if Bluetooth turns on. If I say OK, bluetooth turns ON.
Back to 1)
What's the problem. Why is this f* checkbox for turning bluetooth on and off inactive?
This is not a hardware problem, because I can have stable bluetooth connections.
I did a smc and am pram reset. But it doesn't help.

Had (used) iBook G4 several months now & thoroughly enjoy it, even tho' I live in the sticks where there's no hi-speed/wireless available; I connect to internet & power, which is fine.
This weekend I went to turn off my iBook & it wouldn't turn off. It's now permanently on, with opening info barely visible (like I need to click on F2 to brighten up, except nothing happens).
Currently using my "back up" computer, my iMac Grape, which is pretty much an antique by now.

I have just come back home and turned on my macbook 2007 model. I was using it fine just 5 minues ago. Then I shut it down. Now It will not turn on. I've had 2 hard drives die before (made clicking noises). My 3rd drive was purchased 1 month ago. Is there any way to determine what's wrong? There have been no drops or obvious physical damages. It just will not turn on. There's no signs/lights or error messages. (the battery has charge and the power cord is plugged in) [i dont have apple care]

Well I bought a new 15" MacBook Pro in January 2009. And for the most part it's worked like a dream.
Last night I was using it as usual, when suddenly I heard a very brief, quiet internal noise and the computer turned off immediately. It was as if some vital component inside the computer said "screw this" and stopped working.
Now when I press the power button, absolutely nothing happens. I've tried using battery only, AC only, and both. Nothing works.
I've scheduled a phone call with Apple support, but until then. I wasn't doing anything out of the ordinary when this happened, just browsing the web.

So yesterday my keyboards didn't want to work. So I reinstalled everything again and then it worked, but the letter O was showing only capatalized and when I pressed shift it would give the letter O and when I tried to type a question mark or quotation marks using the shift keys the windows would minimize.
Then, researching on what to do next I found that some people found reseting the RAM should help. So I did, I removed the batteries, held down the power button for 5 sec..and so on. After that my MacBook didn't want to turn on. I've tried everything on the Apple Support page, but still nothing.I was wondering if anyone had this problem before and what to do.

I have a 15" MacBook Pro (early 2008) and it recently took about a 2ft light drop (onto my carpet at that). It Completely shut off and wont turn on AT ALL. When i plug my charger in it`ll take a few seconds before light on the magsafe connector light up (green). im pretty sure it isnt the DC Board (since its been recently replaced with a newer one). can it be my logic board?

My MacBook Pro 13" MB990 turned itself off yesterday and I haven't been able to get it turn back on. I have done some searching around the forum and haven't managed to find any solutions. The MagSafe adapter is definitely working. The battery indicator shows 7 of the 8 LEDs lit and the 8th flashing, suggesting that the battery is charging. The LED on the MagSafe is glowing orange.I have also tried doing an SMC reset pressing the left Shift-Control-Option and Power Button combination. When I do this the LED on the MagSafe changes to green for a couple seconds and then switches back to orange (I'm assuming this means that the SMC reset has worked) but pressing the power button still does nothing.

This just started: I woke the machine from sleep and the fan is on full blast and stays on even after sleep and/or reboot. I tried leaving the machine off and unplugged for a while but still fan is on full. The machine is completely cool and activity is 0%. Everything works fine, the only problem is the fan (noise).

Is there a way to turn off my macbook pro when it goes to sleep because of the low battery? Second question: is there some sort of problems if I carry my MBP (or tip it over, ie to clean it) while sleeping? I'm afraid that something might go wrong with the HDD or sth else.

i'm typing this with a look of scared-********ness on my face...Ok, so i had my MBP (i think it's the 4,1 model, 2.6 core2duo with 4gb ram BTO) connected to my tv and a couple of external hard drives, set it to sleep last night with the lid open, hit the spacebar this morning to wake it and nothing happened
I disconnected frok everything and tried the following to no avail:-Holding the power button turns it off but hitting it again brings it back to the same state, sounds like it's working but keys don't respond and monitor's off.-I tried resetting PRAM but keys don't respond-Took off battery, held power button down for 20 seconds-Took out the two RAM chips and swapped them around-Tried reconnecting the TV to see if it would re-detect monitors-Closed the lid to see if it'll re-sleep and wake up properly but what it does is that the light on the front lights up but doesn't start blinkingAt this point i can't think of anything else to do so please help me out!I'm taking out both battery and RAM chips and leaving it on the bed in hopes it will lose all charge and memory of this ****-up.Btw, there's no warranty and no applecare on it, if push comes to shove i will take it to an applestore but one: i can't really afford that right now and two: i don't really trust them here in greece

My 2007 MBP won't boot up, or at least the screen won't turn on. The genius diagnosed it as an issue with the logic board. I'm not quite two months out of warranty, so it's $310 to fix -- but I spilled water on it three years ago, and if damage is detected, my repair options start to get pretty pricey. I'm now the proud owner of the base-model 13" MBP, which is great, though it hasn't been 24 hours yet. I'm still planning to send the old MBP out to attempt the $310 repair, and we'll keep it as a backup if they'll fix it. However, I'd really like to get my data off the hard drive before I ship it out. I keep hoping it will magically boot up -- it's come back to life a couple of times since I started having this problem -- but I can't expect it to.
What is the easiest way to get my info off the hard drive so I can load everything onto my new MBP? I don't want to do anything more that would give Apple reason to say they can't do the repair. I know I should've backed up, but I didn't, and I can assure you I've learned my lesson ... the hard way.

I have a 15.4 in macbook pro, intel core 2 duo 2.2 GHz 2 Gb RAM 120 GB HD and I bought it almost a year ago. I purchased leopard for Christmas and installed it. I also bought a western digital 500 gb mybook to use with time machine. Since around that time, my computer sporadically will refuse to turn off. Everything will run as if it is going to turn off, and then the screen goes blank and the computer stalls and will not shut off. The num lock and caps lock keys do not light up by my lap fan keeps running. To turn it off I have to hold down the power button for five seconds. I already brought my laptop to the apple store and they sent it to wherever and it still has been doing this. I also ran a series of hardware resets that the tech line gave me.

I have a white macbook that does not turn on. The battery still shows a full charge, but pushing the power button does nothing. I have tried to unseat/reseat the battery. Could it be something simple? When you push the power button, no response at all.

Earlier this summer, my iMac suffered a crashed Logic Board. Thankfully AppleCare took care of the $900 it would have cost to replace it.
Earlier today I put my MacBook Pro to sleep by closing the lid. About 2 hours later I went to open the lid and the monitor never turned on. The white light is on in the front. I restarted it and the light remained on and the monitor did not turn on. I unplugged all devices and restarted and still no luck. The Number Lock key lights up and the sound works fine - but no display.
Could this be another failed Logic Board or a failed chip set from here:[URL]
Are there some other types of methods I should try (PRAM Reset, etc.) If I have to bring it in, thankfully AppleCare covers this Mac for another year. What horrible luck - college just started.

I have a late 2009 Macbook Unibody that get extremely hot. From using SMCFanControl it tells me it's at 80-90 degrees celcius which to me is extremely hot. The fans also do not kick in at all when it gets at this level. When using skype, it skyrockets over 100 degrees celcius which causes my computer to slow down.
Is anyone else having this issue? Do you think it's a hardware malfunction?

So I went to my in-laws house and for some reason I couldn't connect to their Airport/Router. I was on it once before and none of the settings were changed because I was on the router with my iPhone at that point. So I tried to turn off my Airport on my Mac just to see if that would work, and it won't turn off. I restarted my computer and nothing, still stays on. I turned off my Time Machine just to see if that was the issue and it wasn't. I will probably make an appointment with Apple and maybe call Applecare, but just wanted to see if anyone had any ideas here 1st.
I am now back at home and stuff can't turn it off. If it helps I am running Snow Leopard on my Mac.

My macbook wont turn on and makes no noise when i try to do so. When I press the button on the battery is still shows one green light. The green light on the magsafe is on when it's plugged into the wall. I can't get more than one green light to appear after it's been charged for hours. Is the problem that my macbook isn't charging or is it something internal. I'm assuming internal because I still have one green light that appears on the battery.
I tried all the macbook reset techniques.
