Feb 29, 2012imac osx Tiger 10.4.11: I attached Mini-DVI to DVI cable to DVI-D to HDMI cable to Sony Brava HDMIl TV. To use TV as monitor. The only picture is my Desktp/screensaver MINUS the Dock. I tried applications ie. calendar, textEdit; iPhoto, but nothing appears on the TV. What else do I need to do ot use the TV as my computer screen?

May 23, 2012I am looking for recommendations on a good Mini Display Port HDMI Adapter for my Macbook Pro 2011 Sandy Bridge. I have gone through about 4 adapters in the past year due to the adapters become unresponsive after 2 or 3 months. I use my Macbook heavily on external monitors for my work (averaging 7 hours or more a day between various monitors).

I have tried this adapter on two macs at home, a Macbook Pro and an iMac, all latest models, running 10.6.2. Whenever I try putting it to sleep, the Mac wakes up after about 3 seconds.

Despite its description, I hooked it up to my receiver and it does NOT pass audio through. I've been hunting around and all I've found so far is one Youtube video of a guy with an adapter that worked (in the sound section of the system preferences, it shows another option for output that I didn't have), but not what adapter it was.

Oct 19, 2009i just bought a mini display port to hdmi adapter, an HDMI to HDMI cable, and an audio cable for my 2008 unibody macbook (Snow Leopard). I've been trying to use my 26" 720p Sanyo [URL] as a monitor to display my computer so I can watch things that I have on my computer. When I plug it into HDMI one like I'm suppose to, it doesn't work- but you see static and it flickers sometimes. Was I only suppose to get mini display port to DVI then DVI to HDMI?
Notes: If i plug it into the second HDMI adaptor( doesn't say DVI) and set it to 720p then i get a fuzzy picture that is displayed correctly (You can see the entire status bar)

Also, Im having trouble connecting the Audio. I have 1.8 stereo mini to RCA cables. Would I even need to worry if I go the HDMI route because I read that HDMI carry audio.

Apr 12, 2010So our church just purchased a nice refurb iMac to use for media presentations during weekly worship services. We have a projector with a VGA cable, so I bought a mini display port to VGA adapter from apple so that we can connect our shiny new iMac to our big screen.
However, when we attempt to connect our VGA to our adapter, they don't fit together properly. It's like the screws on the VGA cable aren't long enough to screw into the adapter...thus, the cable won't stay connected to the adapter (it just falls out).
Someone suggested getting an S cable to replace the VGA cable, but Apple tells me there's no adapter to link the S cable to the iMac. I'm absolutely clueless...surely there is a way to connect my wonderful new iMac to the big screen.
Any ideas?

Apr 1, 2009I just got in the mail the new MDP to HDMI and i plug it in to my macbook then to my 32" Samsung 720p TV and In mirrored mode it doesnt display the full Screen thats on my macbook it cuts off an edge all around so i cant see the menu bar up top barely see the dock i tried different resolutions and still doesnt help... Jan 11, 2010I am new here, I have been watching the forum but have not needed to post until now. I have a june 2.8 MBP running snow leopard and I am having problems with Mini DP to HDMI. I have a convertor to go direct to hdmi from mini dp but when I use it to watch movies the color is really dark. It is almost unwatchable.
It is not a hardware thing because when I boot into windows 7 I can watch the same file with the same hardware with no issue with darkness.
I was wondering if anyone has come across this issue in snow leopard. I have searched mroogle as well as good and could not find anything.

Then I attached the other end of the mini display port into the back of my IMac desktop. Nothing is happening. I went online to follow directions which told me to go into my 'System Preferences', then click 'Display' and then click the 'Arrangements' tab that would appear. However no arrangements tab appears. Did I buy the right cord?

I remember reading about 2 different types of DVI but i was assured that the Macbook supports both types.
