if i buy the mini display port to dvi adapter, could i use it with a dvi to hdmi cable for my monitor. This is because the dvi and vga ports are already taken up.
View 3 Replies View RelatedHow many of you would like to see a HDMI Port? Why the miniDisplay port? Why not remove ethernet jack and miniDisplay port and replace it with a HDMI port. That way one HDMI cable feeds digital video AND audio. Am I the only one thinking of this?

View 11 Replies View RelatedI just ordered a new 15" mbp, and a 24" Dell ultrasharp with display port. I am a bit confused about the cables I need. The Dell monitor arrived with some interesting looking cables that look like they might be displayport - but the mbp looks much smaller (mini). I have searched amazon and apple stores looking for the cable or adapter that I need, but I am not clear. I assume I can get the mini displayport to dvi or HDMI, but that seems silly when my monitor supports displayport ...

View 6 Replies View RelatedI have a new MacBook Pro 17" computer. I want to play a DVD through the computer to a Toshiba 26" flat screen TV, using a mini port to HDMI.
At first nothing happened, then after much fiddling I got the Apple Spiral Galaxy image on the TV and my usual desktop on the computer. I then discovered that I can move the cursor from my desktop across to the right, where it disappears from my computer screen and appears on the left side of the spiral galaxy on the TV. So it's like I have two side-by-side screens, the Apple galaxy on the left, my computer on the right. In addition, I keep my dock on the right side and it's barely visible on the right side of the galaxy screen.
Incidentally if I play the DVD I can drag and drop it to the right so it slides off of my computer and onto the galaxy. But I know that's not the real solution.

I am looking for recommendations on a good Mini Display Port HDMI Adapter for my Macbook Pro 2011 Sandy Bridge. I have gone through about 4 adapters in the past year due to the adapters become unresponsive after 2 or 3 months. I use my Macbook heavily on external monitors for my work (averaging 7 hours or more a day between various monitors).

I know there are a couple of topics around here about this, but none of them are very clear.
So, I'm looking for a mini displayport to HDMI adapter that supports sound. No extra USB or 3,5mm jack for sound.
It also would be nice if the product was available in Europe (Netherlands) otherwise the shipping cost are just too high.
today i bought the mini display port to HDMI Adapter at the Apple store. The video display is fine but there is no audio. I checked my preferences and there is no option for the TV's speakers. My macbook is from 2009 if this would make a difference.

I just got the mini display to hdmi cable for my macbook pro. So far it works with the tv. It displays everything but there is one probably safari doest work.
Airport shows that I am connected but safari doesnt connect.
Is there a difference in picture quality if I connect a MDP to HDMI instead of a MDP to DVI from my macbook pro to my tv?Will I be able to play movies at 1080p if I use the MDP to HDMI?
View 2 Replies View RelatedWith my dad's MacBook pro I was able to hook it up to our HDTV using a DVI to VGA adapter, but we were never able to hook up the audio. Have any of you connected your laptops to an HDTV? If there were a video plus audio solution, that would be ideal, but I'm guessing that is not the case. So is there a cheap video adapter I can buy? My TV has HDMI, VGA, and various component inputs.

Despite its description, I hooked it up to my receiver and it does NOT pass audio through. I've been hunting around and all I've found so far is one Youtube video of a guy with an adapter that worked (in the sound section of the system preferences, it shows another option for output that I didn't have), but not what adapter it was.
i just bought a mini display port to hdmi adapter, an HDMI to HDMI cable, and an audio cable for my 2008 unibody macbook (Snow Leopard). I've been trying to use my 26" 720p Sanyo [URL] as a monitor to display my computer so I can watch things that I have on my computer. When I plug it into HDMI one like I'm suppose to, it doesn't work- but you see static and it flickers sometimes. Was I only suppose to get mini display port to DVI then DVI to HDMI?
Notes: If i plug it into the second HDMI adaptor( doesn't say DVI) and set it to 720p then i get a fuzzy picture that is displayed correctly (You can see the entire status bar)
I have a 2009 white macbook. I want to connect it to my Samsung LED 6000 series tv. What I have the the apple mini display port to vga adapter. What would be the better choice in regards to picture quality and overall performance?
Also, Im having trouble connecting the Audio. I have 1.8 stereo mini to RCA cables. Would I even need to worry if I go the HDMI route because I read that HDMI carry audio.
Has anyone heard any news on a mini displayport to HDMI adapter? I know that there have been a couple companies ([URL]) that have promised this adapter by the end of January 2009 but I just got a 22 inch lcd tv for Christmas and want to hook my unibody mbp to it.
View 10 Replies View RelatedI am new here, I have been watching the forum but have not needed to post until now. I have a june 2.8 MBP running snow leopard and I am having problems with Mini DP to HDMI. I have a convertor to go direct to hdmi from mini dp but when I use it to watch movies the color is really dark. It is almost unwatchable.
It is not a hardware thing because when I boot into windows 7 I can watch the same file with the same hardware with no issue with darkness.
I was wondering if anyone has come across this issue in snow leopard. I have searched mroogle as well as good and could not find anything.
I purchased a mini display port to HDMI. I attached the HDMI end into the back of my TV in the HDMI input 2 section. Then I attached the other end of the mini display port into the back of my IMac desktop. Nothing is happening. I went online to follow directions which told me to go into my 'System Preferences', then click 'Display' and then click the 'Arrangements' tab that would appear. However no arrangements tab appears. Did I buy the right cord?

I bought a MBA 13" last month and now I'm trying to connect an external monitor through a Mini Display Port-to-HDMI adapter and most of the times the display shows a message "No signal detected"...
I've tried all the possible combinations between the MAC and the Monitor but it would seem a random matter.

I found on eBay a Mini DisplayPort to HDMI adapter. Does this work with the MacBook Pro (Mid-2009 13" model)? If so, will my MBP support our 50" Toshiba DLP HDTV? (720p)
View 3 Replies View RelatedAlright so I go the new 21.5 inch and love it but I was wondering if the Mini-Display Port does audio for the HDMI output. Because if it did, that would be wonderful.
