Has anybody installed an HP LaserJet 1000? I'm trying to do so onto an iMac, but not having any luck.
Been to the HP website and searched for drivers; they only show Windows drivers available for download. I downloaded some sort of generic program from HP, "HP LaserJet for Mac v5.5.2". It ran and installed some sort of stuff onto my Mac, and the Mac physically recognizes and identifies the LaserJet 1000 by name when I am in >System Preferences >Print and Fax > + ["add printers"], but the "Print Using" dialog box just reads "Please select a driver or printer model".
Auto Select does not work, and if I search through the list of built-in printers in Leopard (...>Print Using: >"Select a driver to use..."), a bunch of HP LaserJet models are listed, starting with the 1010 and incrementing upward. But no HP 1000.
Anybody successfully installed or using the HP LJ 1000?
I purchased a smart ups 1000 to protect my mac pro from power cuts and I currently have it on charge the only thing is I am not sure how to connect my mac pro to it (as it is my first time setting one up) I get that I have to plug the ups into the mains but then how do I connect the mac pro to the ups do I simply plug the 3 pin plug (I live in the UK) into the ups so the connections go cable plugged into mains>other end plugged into ups>mains end of mac pro power cable plugged into ups.other end of mac pro mains cable plugged into mac pro.
If this is correct the reason I have not realised it is because the holes on the back of the ups look a bit to close together for UK plug holes.
I have a 13' Macbook Pro running 10.6.5. I also have an HP Laserjet P1102 (works fine on my windows machine) connected via USB. Now I just need my Macbook to communicate with the damn thing. I downloaded a huge HP driver package from Apple's website, installed it (took up 700megs of space) but it still doesn't detect the printer when I go into System Preferences to ADD printer. Are there certain steps I have to do or recite some kind of voodoo incantation to get this to work?
View 1 Replies View RelatedI need help in figuring out how to print wirelessly from my Macbook Pro with Snow Leopard (Mac OS X 10.6.5) to my HP Color Laserjet 2600n. I've set up a static IP on the printer and hooked it up to a D-Link router. I see the printer in my system, but printing fails each time. It appears there's a software glitch of some sort.

Yesterday, I downloaded around 1000 new fonts and installed them, all fine yesterday, but today, Safari, Firefox and Chrome are all using really whacky fonts from those that I downloaded. It happens in google and some webpages, but it's really annoying. I've been through all the preferences, defaults, fontbook (and deleted all the ones with major errors) and I deleted the font that it was using, until it chose another one, trying to fix it but with no luck

I exported them and tried to import them into font boot but 85% of them appear to be damaged. When i double click on the file they ethier dont open or open a blank text edit file.
How can i go though 1000s of fonts to find out which ones are usable and which ones arent? opening them one by one will take forever.
when I open iPhoto on my Mac Book Pro I can see I NOW have a 1,000 photos, as I understand it the oldest photos will NOW get deleted, so how can I Copy all of these 1,000 photos to either my MacBookPro or to an external drive ?.

I just got a lexar 1000x 32 gig compact flash card. When I put it in the card reader it repeatedly connects and disconnects. I bought two cards and they both do it so I don't think it's a bad card. I'm using a lexar professional UDMA compact flash, sd reader (usb 2.0).
View 4 Replies View RelatedThey are outright lying on their website. They tell us that their SSD requires less power than regular HDDs and this is completely not true. After putting their 512 GB model into my MBP, I lost ~10-15% battery power.
Kingston has been unhelpful and just tells me that "the SSD consumes less power than a regular harddisk and this has been confirmed by our technicians". Hell I had even a 7.2k drive in my MBP before which consumes MORE than a regular HDD and here I am losing 10-15% of battery life to their SSD. They are just lying through their teeth and they should not be trusted. It really really sucks. I've been at 10 emails so far but only robots reply as it seems. I just hope they would pull a firmware update out of their sleeves but I think it's very unlikely.
Can I use my Mac book pro while downloading a long tv series from iTunes? Or will I lose my connection ? And my money?

Apple has taken action against app developer Molinker over alleged review fraud, resulting in the removal of all 1,000 of the company's apps. Thanks to the detective work of one intrepid app store enthusiast, Molinker - developer of close to one percent of all the apps available on the App Store - has been banned from the App Store and all of its apps have been removed. The issue was first brought to light by photo blog iPhoneography in a post highlighting the concerns of one of its regular readers. Reader SCW had concluded that app developer Molinker had been using its promo codes to write fake 5-star reviews of many of its apps. Each review shared the same short, disjointed style and the reviewers had only written reviews for other Molinker apps.

View 15 Replies View RelatedLast week I bought a new 13" 2.53GHz MBP. I also bought a Kingston 128 GB SSDNow V Series from a local computer store (Canada Computers) and installed it myself. It was fast as hell (startup time, restart time, sleep time, application launch time, etc.) and I thoroughly enjoyed it while it lasted. Last night, I restarted my MBP and got the white screen of death with a question mark on a folder. After several calls with Apple and the local computer store, it seems my SSD is dead and I lost all my data. I installed the original/stock 250 GB HD that came with my MBP and that's what I'm using now. During business hours on Monday, I will phone Kingston for help.
My questions for you guys:Has anyone else had a problem with the Kingston SSDNow dying on them? Or any other SSDs? Apple Care said it could be completely Kingston's fault (ie faulty SSD) or the MBP could simply not be compatible with this SSD (although it worked great for a week). The local computer store said it could be my EFI, but I'm running the latest EFI. What do you think? Should I get a refund on the Kingston SSD and stick with the stock 250 GB HD, or should I get a replacement SSD and hope it doesn't happen again? I'm worried about the reliability now
Towards the lower right hand side of my monitor there is a series of pixels that are dimmer than all the rest. It forms basically a backwards J. It is most obvious when there is a white background (like on this site). Is this something that would be covered with Apple Care?

No need to waste space with casings and stuff when a stick like that does the job too. Those should fit in MBA but there is no place for the screws.

View 1 Replies View RelatedI'm trying to add my printer, a HP Color LaserJet 2600n, to my MacBook Pro running OS X Lion via local wifi. However, the MacBook can find the printer, but somehow not connect with it; it's shown as inactive or just does not print.
There might be a problem with the driver (as in the beginning there were some pop-up warnings shown concerning this issue); I already downloaded the latest drivers manually (because Apple could not find them directly).
Is there even a way to use such an "old" printer? Are the drivers compatible with Lion?

View 2 Replies View Related I just received my first mac today, a macbook. I am having troubles already trying to get my printer that is connected to my other computer to work. My other computer has Linux/Windows and I am trying to get it to work while it is running windows, first. The printer is a Canon Pixma MP470. It works fine in windows, and when I try to print in OS X, I went to "add printer" -> "Windows" button -> "Canon MP470". That's no good though. Oh, first before that, I did put the CD that came with the printer and went through the setup and installed everything on it. What happens now is the printer recognizes there is a job because it moves the nozzles and pulls a piece a paper through whenever I send a job, but with no printing on it.
So I plugged the printer directly into my MB, and it also worked. It recognized my printer and under the "driver" tab, it displayed "Canon MP470 series", but was grayed out. When I try to select the driver for it when it is through my network, I don't have a driver called "Canon MP470 series", the closest I have is "Canon PIXMA MP500 - Gutenprint v5.1.3", which is what I have been using.
Also, is there anything else I need to know about getting it to work when my computer is running linux? I will be using CUPS in linux.
In windows I can use the control key+select and shift+select to select items say, 5-15 or select multiple individual files. In OS X shift+select and cmd+select do the same thing. They let me choose multiple individual files but I can't figure out how to choose a series of files like choosing 5-15. I realize I can drag my mouse over it and click a few files I don't want with shift+select but it's just annoying me that I can't find the command for what I want to do. From the search I did I got the impression that shift+select and cmd+select are supposed to do different things but for me the don't. Did I miss something?
