I'm looking to purchase an external monitor (24" @ 1920x1080) for my MacBook Pro (13.3" @ 1280x800) but want the fonts to be larger on the external monitor (eyes aren't what they used to be). The MBP13 has about 113 pixels/inch whereas the monitor has about 92 pixels/inch so I believe the fonts will indeed be larger. Can anyone with a similar setup confirm this or offer any other useful info.

View 2 Replies View RelatedI picked up a new MacBook yesterday and I noticed a weird issue when coming out of "monitor sleep" mode, not regular sleep mode.
When I move the mouse, the external monitor shows what you see in the picture, kinda like a TV with no signal. The MacBook screen works fine so what I just do is unplug and re-plug in the DVI plug and everything is good again.
My 24 inch Dell monitor worked fine with my M1330 and other computers so I know it's not that. Does anyone have the same issue or maybe give me some light on this?
I have a 22" Dell external monitor on my MBP. I know that I just close the cover to my MBP to shut off the screen. What do I do in those instances that I want to use both screens? There has to be something simpler than restarting the MBP?
View 3 Replies View RelatedAs said, my current set up is an HDMI - DVI cable (HDMI to monitor and DVI to adapter) and my DVI - mini DisplayPort adapter, everything is connected fine but when I turn on the monitor, it says cable not found... and nothing is displayed on the screen but on the Macbook side of things, it sees the monitor is connected (I can extend the screen and leave the screen) but other than that, it appears I cannot get an image on the monitor, pressing every button on the monitor does not work either.
Any other information that may seem necessary, let me know. I tried clearing my PRAM and clearing the power and such but nothing seems to work.
i have a 13 inch macbook pro, and i want to set the screen size bigger than 1280 * 800, to maybe 1600 * 1200 or something. obviously i cant fit more than 1280 * 800 pixels in the 13 inch MBP screen, but I want it to function as kind of a 'cropped' screen - so i'd have to move my trackpad around the corners of the screen to see more of the desktop. i know it will look like crap and be a bit cumbersome, but i don't really care about that. is there any way to do this?
by the way, i don't NEED the ability to use my trackpad to move around the screen. i don't plan on using my MBP like this permanently, this is just for experimental purposes.
I have a 27" i7. I have a 24" DVI Montior hooked up to it via MDP->DVI adaptor. When the 24" Monitor is on, everything is fine. When I turn the monitor off, the magic mouse tracking on the 27" screen stutters. I am not kidding - it took me ages to figure out that to fix I either need to turn the other monitor on OR disconnect the MDP->DVI adaptor.

I am also looking to buy a second one for the wife, maybe a new white or a refurb uni. I am looking to upgrade the HDD & maybe memory on both. I have seen posts where the Aluminum iMac recognized a 1.5TB drive. When I search for "MacBook" drives the biggest I get is 500GB. Is this the biggest it will recognize? I was hoping to put at least a 1TB into the new one, as that will be my wife's work computer. As for memory, some sites claim the '06 will recognize 3GB, but only if I put in 2-2GB modules? Not sure if that is worth the effort. On the new ones I am seeing 4GB max, but Mac Upgrades claims that the Feb 08 ones go to 6GB, how the hell did that happen?

I have an imac G3 "snow" running a special application. I also have a mac mini. Up until now I was using a Sony 20" LCD display with a KVM switch. The display worked very well with both computers. Unfortunately it started to make a loud noise and I think is getting ready to give out.I tried a Samsung 27" LED monitor which is very nice with the mac mini. However, although it works with the imac G3 the colors are way off and built-in adjustments are n

Will this monitor be compatible with my mac mini? It also comes with a webcam, and I was wondering if I'd be able to use that as well.
How would the color look on it? Right now I'm using a 2 maybe 3 year old dell screen in the shape of a square and the color looks kind of fuzzy. How would it look on that particular monitor?

View 1 Replies View RelatedI have a G4 powerbook with an LCD that only displays the top 25% of the screen. I've been using an external monitor with it just fine. Today, I reinstalled the OS and ran into a problem. The main OSX startup menu (you know, where it asks for your location, timezone, personal info, etc) is prompting me for information, and I can't see the forms to fill them in! The external monitor defaults to "extended" as opposed to "mirrored", and the forms are embedded, meaning I can't drag them over to my external monitor. Obviously, if I can't fill out these forms and get to the desktop, the laptop is completely useless.
Does anyone know how to force the external monitor to be "mirrored" from startup? Is there a keycommand?
I have been using the latest macbook pro 13.3" since April 2010. Over the last week the monitor suddenly goes completely white and the external monitor goes black. The laptop becomes unresponsive although the programmes opened continue running (e.g a skype voice call would continue without interruption although the monitor is all white).
The only solution at the moment is to press the turn off button for a few seconds then switch the laptop on again. It will then work normally until for no apparent reason this happens again.

I see a lot of info about problems with various external drives working with Time Machine. I have Lion 10.7.3 and find that my old external drive that worked with PCs doesn't work. So, does Apples have a list of recommended esternal drives or at least a list of ones Apple knows are compatible?

Being that the sleek look of my wifes iMac is amazing by itself, can imagine putting a monitor next to it that is of a different size and look. Why wouldn't Apple with all of its innovation and attention to detail with look and feel not have thought of this very thing? Is only 2 monitor sizes also a huge over site on the part of Apple?

View 3 Replies View RelatedI recently bought the new 13" MBP and have been looking at upgrades. I bought it standard so I could walk out with it that day, but I've been thinking about two main changes: RAM and a SSD hard drive. I'm pretty sure I'll be getting the Intel X25-M 160gb SSD, it looks like the best GB per $ ($424 for 160GB). I know that will show great results. Is a RAM upgrade also necessary for improved speed and performance? If so what is the best RAM to change to? I'm looking at either getting 1 4GB card for a total of 6GB or getting the pair for 8GB. I don't want to drop $300+ if it isn't going to do much for me.
I mostly use the MBP for word processing, internet, email, etc.; but I want a bit snappier and quicker performance than what I'm getting out of stock. It is possible (likely) I will get into music making/mixing on this machine.

My question is, is there an external HD that you can read/write on a Mac AND a PC? I know formatting to FAT32 is one way of doing it, but I was just wondering if there are any HDs out there that doesn't need formatting for you to be able to read/write on a Mac and a PC.
