I just can't wait to order it online with the student discount !!!But before buying, I was just wondering : when will iLife '09 be preinstalled on the Aluminum MacBooks when you buy it online ? Is it the day they release iLife '09 a.k.a. at the end of January ? I know that you can buy iLife '09 for about 10 bucks after buying a new Mac right now, but I think I can wait until it is preinstalled on new Macs, so I wanted to know if any of you knew when it's gonna happen.
View 17 Replies View Relatedi bought my macbook 13 inch 2.0 core 2 duo one's about 4 month before they refreshed the line and expanded the ram and slapped pro behind it. now am hearing about the whole snow leopard not running in 64 bit at boot up on the macbooks. i know that the chip is design for 64 bit os'es and i know that the hack with 6 and the 4 key won't work on my computer. but am wondering if the macbook line will ever be able to run mac os x in 64 bit. i mean isn't 4 gb or ram the minimum you need . i know that's how it was on window 7 to run it in 64 bit. i was just thinking now i know why they upgraded the macbook line right before snow leopard. one thing i have noticed is that all the apps that are wrote for 64 bit load much quicker then 32 bit apps.so that got me thinking if apple will ever let snow leopard or above run in 64-bit on the non pro macbook? and if it could be done though an upgrade though software update or though the operating system ? what are you guys/girls thoughts on it?

I have deleted a load of stuff and randon apps iv have downloaded. i have change some internet setting but still nothing happens. seem to be ever since i down loaded the new update.

I hope this isnt a dumb question.... I currently have a 13 macbook 10/2008 and been thinking about getting a 15. At the apple refurb store they have a 15in mbp for $1349 or new 13in $1119. I love how portable my 13in is but i also like the thought and look of the 15in. Ive read things about the 15in being bulky and not as portable as the 13in. I dont feel like there is that big a difference. Which is the better deal?

View 4 Replies View RelatedI ordered a refurb'd 24" ACD and it arrived today. All I can say is WOW! I have it right next to my 24" Dell 2407WFP-HC. The Dell XPS PC is running an NVIDIA 8600 GT with 4GB on the motherboard. Ok, back to the ACD, the unit is spectacular and looks to be 'brand spanking new'. Side-by-side comparison would be subjective and worthless. My eye favors the ACD. I consider this a bargain at $699, not chump change but it works great with my Rev C MBA. I am using the MBA with an Apple wireless keyboard and a Microsoft 5000 Bluetooth mouse.

Which would be the better choice? Is the price difference justifiable?
I am a photographer so I do a lot of tethered shooting through capture one and a lot of photo editing in Photoshop. I have an eizo 24" external display I can hook up to but I feel the 17" with its high resolution and anti glare would be useful for location shoots so my question: Is the higher price and old technology worth it for the bigger antiglare screen and bigger harddrive for what I am using it for?
I've decided to go with an SSD refurb and am torn between the 1.6 and 1.8 SSD model. The 1.8 is an extra $100, but it's $100 which may be over my budget and I'm not sure if I'll really notice a difference. The reason I want the 1.8 is because I'm coming from a 2.0 MB and 1.8 doesn't seem as bad as downgrading to a 1.6.
I currently have a 2.4ghz imac and a hp mini netbook. I'm looking at the Macbook Air units as a eventual replacement for my netbook but I can't decide between the apple 1.8ghz refurb SSD model or the 2.13ghz new SSD model.

It seems that the Back to the Mac philosophy will not apply just to the Air but will go further on the other laptops series.
I definetely see the HDD disappear from the next gen of MacBooks to give space to the SSD cards.
So far all the MacBook can get up to 500GB HDD and the Pros have also the option up to 512GB SDD.
However even if this is quite predictable I would like to know your opinion on another matter: DVDs.

Would it be possible to purchase one set of crucial sticks and then simply take the 2gb original ram from his unit and replace it into mine, utilizing both matched crucial sticks in his computer? Giving us both 4gb.
The MB's were both purchased on the same date and are identical in spec.
