I went to the Fsecure link and followed some of the steps on terminal. None of the file names came up so it seems like my computer is clean, but how can I be 100% sure? What's a good virus/malware/trojan scan I can run on my computer to be 100% sure?Â

Is there a fix for the new virus that hit apple computers called "FLASHBACK"?
View 5 Replies View RelatedI had one of 15 of these laptops in the same room and it did not let the user login to a web-based grading site. The MacBook did log in for me at home but, there was a delay with a brief webpage saying something about so many seconds to redirect. (Could not read it all.) I never experienced a delay before using this web-based grading site.

I've used the tools to verify that I indeed do not have the flashback virus. But I've read it comes from updating flash player I believe, I could be wrong, that's why I'm here. I'm not the most tech savvy, relatively new to macs, how do I know if it's safe to update flash player? I've read numerous people saying if you do so you're screwed, just wanted to make sure before I risk screwing up my mbp.
View 2 Replies View RelatedMy internet will be cut off in 48 hours unless I remove this virus. I got an e-mail saying I was infected with this flashback virus. I called Rogers to confirm that it wasn't a phishing e-mail and it is legitimate. The only thing they did was give me numbers to a paid technical support line, I'd prefer not to call and pay. I went online and found a tutorial for removing it using Terminal, which I tried and got the error messages which apparently means I'm not affected. How do I remove this virus before my internet gets cut off? I am operating a MAC OSX 10.5.8 software system on my macbook?

View 3 Replies View RelatedUnfortunately, I got hit with Flashback on my imac. I've removed it with ClamAV and now I'm trying to clean things up and learn from my own mistakes. I've disabled Java and I am in the process of changing all my passwords everywhere I can. One mistake I had made was to use myself as administrator as my only account. I would like to change that, but one reason I hadn't done so earlier is that everything I've done and set up for the last 10 years is in my administrator account.
Is there a simple way to transfer everything over to the user account, rather than starting with a blank slate and trying to set things up from memory? And if so, should I then erase or delete things from my admin account? Which things and how do I do that quickly? I know I shouldn't have been using my admin account as user, but it didn't seem like a big deal back in 2002. Now I've been burned, and I want to get this fixed.

I was doing a software update today and a box popped up which looked like it was from Apple saying I needed to update my Adobe Flash. I downloaded it. Afterwards, I started worrying about it and checked on the web and found out there is a virus going around posing as Adobe Flash. I am running Snow Leopard. How do I check to see if I have it and if so, what do I do?
