MacBook Air :: World Adaptor Kit Compatibility With System?

Dec 13, 2008

I'm heading to Korea next year for several weeks. I've heard that I might need the World Adaptor Kit, but looking at it on Apple's site, it doesn't mention if it works with the MBA: [URL]. Was it just an oversight on Apple's part or does it not work with the MBA?

MacBook Pro :: World Of Warcraft Compatibility With Base 13" MBP?

Jul 3, 2009

Is it better spend the extra for the Pro as opposed to the regular MacBook performance wise?

I have a last gen base 20" iMac (from Aug 2008) .. the game seems to run pretty well, except now that I am in the Wrath part of the game it is starting to stutter more frequently.

Does the base 13" MBP run the game good? in comparison to the last gen base iMac?

Just looking to find some justification into purchasing either the MacBook or base MBP

I just got myself a WD My Book World Edition II 1TB ethernet HD. I can connect to it fine from my MacBook, but on my G5 its a different story. I see the drive on the Network. I then double click on it and get the prompt for the usergroup, username and password, type in the info and I get a error saying it can't see it. What am I missing? OS is 10.4.9 on G5 and 10.4.10 on MacBook.

MacBook Pro :: When Connecting To An External Monitor, Will There Be A Quality Difference Between Using A DVI Adaptor Or A HDMI Adaptor

Jun 18, 2012

I am looking to connect my macbook pro to an Acer G24 monitor, but am not sure what best way to do it.The resolution of the monitor is 1920x1200, and it is a 24" screen, with VGA, DVI, and HDMI ports. My macbook pro is the late 2011 entry model.

Will there be a difference in the quality of the picture on my external monitor, depending on whether I connect using a HDMI cable or a DVI cable? I will have to buy an adapter for each of these, to plug into the mini DVI port on my mac, will this alter the quality of the picture at all? If I were to buy an Apple Tv, would I be able to plug it straight into my monitor using a HDMI cable? If so, how would I manage the audio, as my monitor does not have speakers. Would using a thunderbolt cable (with HDMI adaptor) increase the quality of the picture of my monitor?

Info:
MacBook Pro (13-inch Late 2011), Mac OS X (10.7.4), Apple TV, Thunderbolt, Monitor

MacBook Pro :: World Of Warcraft Might Have Broken System

Aug 17, 2010

Ever since I started playing WoW my MBP would get pretty hot to the point were my keys were burning my fingers, this would happen after around an hour of playtime. Two days into playing my laptop started freezing a lot, it started freezing up everything being unable to do anything (it would freeze for around 30sec then unfreeze for about 10seconds then freeze up again) This also kept happening even after I wasn't in game, so it came to a point were I had to format the mac, it works fine now but I'm afraid to play WoW again because of this freeze. Also, I played SC2 & Heroes of Newerth with no problems.

Mac Pro :: Power Supply Compatibility With Another System?

Feb 16, 2009

Will a 600W power supply from a June 2004 dual 1.8 G5 be compatible with a dual 2.3 early 2005 system (450W)? Are the connectors any different? Will a bigger power supply overload the system? I know that the 600W June 04 power supply can be used with a dual 2.7 early 05 machine (600W) despite a rubber grommet that the 04 doesn't have.

MacBook Pro :: Connecting Plasma TV Via DVI Adaptor

Jan 22, 2010

I've been trying to connect my mbp (older model) to my Hitachi plasma TV via S-video. I have the Apple DVI to video adapter and the first time I hooked it all up it looked great. The next time, and from then on no matter what I do the picture on the TV is in gray scale (LCD is still color). I've gone into system prefs and tried every setting in there I could find, and even tried to calibrate it using the calibration assistant. Nothing. I've also tried different inputs on the TV (the two plain video ports there are), as well as tried adjusting every imaginable video/color setting I could find on my TV. I'm completely lost at this point. I've also tried different video cables and of course fn F7.

MacBook Pro :: Best Settings For World Of Warcraft?

Aug 26, 2010

I'm ordering a Macbook Pro next week and I'm curious as to which is going to be the best setup. I plan to play World of Warcraft on it (as well as use it for my work). Ideally I'd have liked the 13" because I prefer the smaller size but out of these setups which would be best?

13-inch: 2.4GHz with SSD (would the 2.66GHz make a significant difference?) or Baseline 15-inch: 2.4GHz

I don't mind running the game on medium settings, although I'd prefer not to run it on it's lowest. I would be using it for raiding 10 and 25 mans. I'd expect 25fps min in most situations, but would like more.

Is this achievable on the 13"? I just don't want to order one and find I'm disappointed, given the cost.

"Does it harm the battery or reduce battery life, to use the AC adaptor for extended periods while the battery is fully charged?"Someone answered, "I would have to disagree with the others who say that it hurts your battery & reduces battery life by keeping your AC adapter plugged in with a full battery.I have done extensive research and asked many apple employees and have always come to the same conclusion. They all say to keep your laptop plugged into an power supply whenever possible. Only use your battery if you have to, in those times when you are not near a power supply.

I have an Airport network set up as a normal scenario. I bought this adaptor only because I am about to take a trip and the hotel only has ethernet in the rooms. I've tried using the diagnostic tool, but it keeps hanging and crashing.

MacBook Air :: Upgrading From Rev A To Rev B - Real World Observations

Dec 7, 2008

I bit the bullet and upgraded from a Rev A 1.6GHz 80GB HDD MBA - to a Rev B 1.86GHz 128GB SSD MBA. I wanted to post my observations on what it's like to upgrade - I know many Rev A owners have - or are thinking about - upgrading to Rev B. In this post/comparison, I refer to "Rev A" and "Rev B". The Rev A is my older 1.6GHz 80GB HDD MBA. The Rev B is my new 1.86GHz 128GB SSD MBA

Caveat - Unlike some (but not all!) Rev A MBA owners, I love my Rev A MBA. I've had zero problems with it. It runs cool and I have not experienced any core shut downs. It would heat up when most laptops normally heat up and the fans would kick. It would cool down quickly when I moved on to something else. With video it never stuttered... Perhaps my Rev A has run so nicely because I don't ask a lot of it. It is a second Mac to my Mac Pro - I use it primarily for email, word processing, iTunes movies and web surfing - on the couch and on the road. It has REALLY been a great laptop and I have nothing bad to say about it...................
