Jun 18, 2012Recently I got a new MacBook Pro. I updated it to the latest version of lion. Whenever I wanted to change my desktop background, it would change immediately no problem but once I shut down or restarted my mac, it would revert back to the original background. Somewhere I read that by deleting com.apple.desktop.plist this problem could be solved. I did that and bingo it solved the problem! But since I am a newbie i would like to know is it fine to do so and what (if any) effects it could have on my mac?

Mar 28, 2007My brother tried to install Windows XP Pro on our MacBook. Under normal circumstances this would be a walk in the park. The problem is, we are in Costa Rica, on vacation, right now and he thought we had a copy of Windows, but we don't! So now the MacBook boot up to a DOS screen saying, "No bootable devise -- insert boot disk and press any key." And of course I don't have a bootable devise. Is there anyway to revert back to windows? I have tried holding down the escape key which then gives me the same message about the bootable devise, over and over.

However, I have just downloaded and attempted to install safari 3 but it says I've already got a newer version on the dive... so I uninstalled ALL safari application and emptied the trash and it still says that there is a version on the drive.

It's like it's reverting back to some random version of the OS O_o; I don't have anything like Deep Freeze running, though, nor is this drive set up for Time Machine. It has my MobileMe freaking the heck out too, it keeps saying it needs to rebuild x, y, or z when I log in.

Dec 7, 2014I am either too stupid or Yosemite's mail does not work the way I'm accustomed to. In all previous iterations you select as many individual addressee's as you wanted and place them in the address heading. I have not found a way to do that in Yosemite. You must choose them individually and place in the address header one at a time. I know about groups but that is not a good avenue as many of my emails go to random people depending on content. If the above is not possible do have an email you reccomend that would let me send to multiple addressees in one operation. I do not use Gmail, Yahoo, etc. . . My email is from 3rd party provider.

Sep 9, 2014I change my Energy Saver settings (Mavericks), but the changes do not remain. Once the display goes to sleep, the settings change back to other values (which aren't the same as the default settings). This happens even though I have the settings locked. Could some other utility be changing the settings? My Macbook Pro was imaged through my work - might they have set something up that can revert settings?
I've already tried trashing the com.apple.PowerManagement.plist file and restarting - that didn't solve the problem.

For instance, I have the menu bar set to one, and then I have the "Close, Minimize, and Expand" buttons set to something different. To get to my question, how do I revert the theme back to the original Snow Leopard theme. I have tried the option in Themepark, but some of the themes still stayed.
