View 1 Replies View RelatedI am a new Mac user (had my macbook for 2 weeks, loving it, but still learning how to use it). I am really annoyed by Preview app. Anytime I save a photo in my Download folder, it automatically opens it with Preview, whether I want it or not. When I quit Preview, it still opens the next time I download a photo. I can't find anywhere in Preview options such option to disconnect automatic opening of photos. How do I turn it off please?

I use to have a MacBook Pro (17" if that matters) with OSX 10.5 on it. Back in August '08 I bought a iMac (24") because I had to give the MacBook Back. When I set up the iMac I did the install that allows you to transfer your settings and files to your new computer before I erased everything on the MacBook. Some how I lost a bunch of Pictures I took and had on the MacBook. I just can't find them... i didn't have iPhoto on the MacBook but do on the iMac.
I thought I had lost the photos until one day I pointed the screen saver to my photo folder. Now I can see my photos in the screen saver slide show... but can not see them in iPhoto or in the Photo Folder.I have hope that they are somewhere on my computer but where and how can I get them into iPhoto?
Okay, I was working with iMovie and did something cool...but I don't know how I did it or how to repeat what I did.
I managed to make one "clip" which consists of 6 or 7 photos (imported from iPhoto)...and on top of (inside of?) that clip is the "far far away" title (the Star Wars one). I tried to do the same thing again, and couldn't figure out how I did it in the first place! Oops. Any clues would be great (I tried highlighting several pics and dragging them down to the timeline together...didn't work. I also tried a few other things, but no luck).
I recently added a NAS with four main partitions (recognizes them as drives). Now, when ever I start up my mac, finder opens four panes, one for each drive. Is there any way I can prevent finder from automatically opening?

My old ti-book won't boot, tried it with the cd, zapped the pram, nothing. So I hooked it to my MacBook Pro via firewire and started it as a T drive. But I can't find our family photos or email (mac mail) files anywhere.
I've also searched the following:
JPG
jpg
Library
iPhoto
when viewing photos in iPhoto "Library>Photos", by default, each event is expanded (i.e., triangles are down, and all photos are visible). Is there a single command or keyboard shortcut that will collapse all the individual photos into headers only?

View 7 Replies View RelatedI have a 3.06GHz Intel Core 2 Duo iMac. Bought it some months ago. I recently had to redo everything. I've run into one problem. I cannot get the old AOL (yes, the old software with the installer) to work. I download it, and open it to install and it closes. It bounces in the dock for a few seconds then closes. Yes, I have Rosetta installed. I installed it from the CD. Other Rosetta required applications are working (Appleworks, for example).

View 2 Replies View RelatedSo recently I tried to install a Genuine Fractals trial on my Mac Pro but the installer would never open. Whenever I tried opening it on my MacBook Pro, the installer opened perfectly. Now I am trying to install a Twixtor demo on my Mac Pro and am encountering the same problem. It opens fine on my MacBook Pro, and I have no idea why it won't open on my Mac Pro. I tried clicking the checkbox under Get Info for opening with Rosetta, but that didn't do anything. Does anyone have any ideas?

View 12 Replies View RelatedI'm new to Macs, and I just downloaded Zipeg, which has worked for me when opening zip files. However, just seconds ago, I tried to open a program that I had just downloaded, but I don't know why it's not working. There's so many files that lead to so many more, but I just want to open the application. I extracted it all, but how do I open the program that is amongst many other files in Zipeg? Or maybe another file opener?

View 6 Replies View RelatedCan some one please post up picture/video's or direct to a site on how to open my intel imac up? I purchased a WD internal Hard Drive and plan on getting it tomorrow. I want to know how to install it on my computer. I'm not new to opening computer and installing hardware (Was a computer tech support for IBM compatible computers).
After searching for a bit and reading the forum, i unpluged my computer and took it to my bed to examine it. According to my findings, i believe there are 5 screw (not flat head or star) that i need to take out in order for the back part of my imac to get apart from the front see thru plastic part. After looking at some pics on google i think i should be able to determine my internal hard drive.
Can anyone confirm if i need to take out those 5 screws under the imac, not the once to take out the ram, i upgraded my ram no problem.
And it would be much help to me to see pictures on take my imac apart and what to see and what to take out or cables to unplug and what NOT to unplug to install my new 500gig WD internal hard drive.
If unable to do so, many somone can direct me to a site with pics or video on how to do it. I saw one on a macbook... Macbook is different then imac.
