PowerPC :: G4 Upgrade Options - Decent Vide Cards?

Feb 20, 2007

I know the G4s are 733mhz and below, I'm not sure if they're Quicksilvers or DAs, I could probably find out, but I already bugged an IT guy once, so I'm not sure I want to ask again. Now, assuming these are at a decent price (from what I've heard, they usually are), is it worth it to buy one and upgrade? I've been reading over lowendmac.com, and I see both of the 733mhz models will accept dual 1.8 cards/boards. This probably won't be my primary machine, but my Photoshop machine until I get a Mac Pro.How much are the 733mhz machines worth, they probably have 1gb or so of ram, and a decent(for the time) vide card. The school doesn't really skimp, in our photo department, we have G5s w/dual 2ghz, 4gb RAM, and 23" ACDs.

Mac Pro :: 3870 - No Drivers For Leopard?

Sep 4, 2008

I just reinstalled leopard to try and deal with some aperture slowdown issues (long story). Since I no longer have my x1900 in place I just installed with the 3870 running. I have only single monitor support out of the box. It would appear I -have- to install the ATI driver disk. So I'm thinking I'll just check on the ATI site to make sure there is no updated/newer driver. THERE IS NO DRIVER ON THE ENTIRE SITE! WTF. I went through the mac section - no drivers, just pitiful card info. I went into the driver section - nothing other than 10.4 drivers. Why in the world are there no drivers for this product available for download? Is that just to keep people from flashing a stock card? I guess I'll install my old disk, but this was very irritating.

OS X :: Snow Leopard HP Printer Drivers?

Aug 28, 2009

I just installed Snow Leopard successfully, but it doesn't know my HP2600N network laser printer. It's not in the support document and the closest printer, a 2605N is supprted. But HP's site says "HP LaserJet - Software Information for Mac OS X 10.6" and "Obtain Software", but there's nothing there. Any idea of when HP will support the 2600N? (All other upgrades had no problem with the 2600N).

OS X :: HP LaserJet 1022 Drivers In Leopard (with 1020)?

Oct 28, 2007

I got a new MBP this week and Leopard and install went fine. Anyway, now I am trying to hook up my old printer (an HP Laserjet 1020). I saw on other sites that you could do this with the 1022 Driver - which is a pack for the whole 1020 series. It worked for people on the site, but, of course, they were running Tiger (or earlier). I wondered if anyone has tried doing this with Leopard and if you have any tips for doing this that would be great. Oh, and I know the easiest way to take care of this is just to buy a new printer ... but I really don't have the money right now.

I'm going to have to need to download DX9.0c as well probably. Now I'll only have access to my Leopard disk again in a few days. Anyone know what are the drivers to install for the mother/logic board, the ethernet at least, and also sound card drivers?

OS X :: Deleting Printer Drivers In Snow Leopard

Sep 10, 2009

After I installed Snow Leopard, I installed all of the printer drivers on the disc. It was a rather hefty size, over 1GB. Is there a way, manually or automatically, to delete all the ones I don't need? I've done a search, and a couple of places (possibly outdated) have pointed me to Library > Printers, and that all the printer drivers should be there. When I do that, I only see the application for my own printer.............

OS X V10.6 Snow Leopard :: Avoid Using The Manufacturer's SW Drivers Etc?

Mar 24, 2012

I went a couple weeks ok with the Scanner and Image Capture.  And then kaput, it doesn't work.  I thought about it some and it seemed to stop working after I did Software Update on March 17th, 2012.  In that update was a "Digital Camera Raw 3.1.0" update.  Which makes me very suspicious. Here is the error I get when I open Image Capture: So, it recognizes the scanner but can't do anything in Image Capture or the with the scanner buttons. I ran Software Update again, just to see if there was a new updated scanner driver but nothing came up. I really want to avoid using the manufacturer's SW drivers etc.

MacBook Pro :: Windows 7 Not Loading NVIDIA Drivers / Requires Bootcamp To Load Drivers?

Oct 19, 2009

I recently installed the 64 bit Windows 7 Ultimate operating system onto my MacBook Pro 13 inch. I have the most basic Macbook Pro 13 inch with nothing fancy added. Whenever I load up the Windows 7 OS on my Macbook, it never utilizes or even realizes that I have the NVIDIA graphics card in my laptop. It instead believes I have some integrated graphics card that cannot even run the most basic of PC games. I know my laptop can run these games because on OSX it runs multiple games with higher requirements than these games I am trying to run on Windows.

Basic question: How do I get bootcamp or whatever else to make Windows 7 realize I have a NVIDIA card and drivers. Sorry if I am coming off as stupid or confusing.

Windows On Mac :: Unable To Install NVidia Drivers / Drivers Not Compatible With Hardware

May 27, 2009

So i am trying to change my apple boot camp drivers to nvidia's, but i think i must have downloaded the wrong ones, or done something wrong. I tried to install Geforce/Ion driver release 192.62, (from nvidia's site, i selected gefore 8 series) and when i ran the setup it said: 'nvidia setup program could not locate any drivers that are compatible with your hardware' . My questions are:

Which drivers should i download? a link would be great.
Are there any pre-requisites i must do, such as install version 170 first?

I am using an iMac 24" with 4gb ram, 500gb 5400 rpm HDD, and 8800 GS 512mb.

The reason I am trying this, is because when i play some online games, i often get bad lag spikes, but that chat is still running. Someone recommended me to 'update my drivers'.

MacBook :: Unable To Install Windows 7 Drivers / Old Drivers Are Installing

Oct 11, 2009

I have a Macbook plastic, 2.4 GHz intel core 2 Duo with 2 GB of ram.My Mac is currently running on OS X, i used to have a 40 gig partition Windows XP, a couple of friends of mine where talking about how much they liked Windows 7 and finally i had had enough blue screens to say, sure ill switch, why not?... assuming it would not take longer then lets say a day at most, i set off on my quest.

FWI, im running an older model Macbook that was bought refurbished (not sure if that has anything to do with my problem). anyway i removed my previous partition, then using Boot Camp Assistant i repartitioned a 40 gig section for Windows 7. Then ran the installer. I have a copy of Windows 7 ultimate 86x. The Windows boot screen turned up, i had to reformat the partition so that i could install, no problems there. after all said and done the installation worked perfectly, up to a point... First problem that appeared was the lack of sound. i fixed that by downloading Realtek's High Def sound drivers.

Then it was the rest of the drivers for the macbook. heres where i run into my problem, i have the Mac OSX install discs 1 and 2. inserting the first disc the option of the auto run of the setup popped up i clicked run. and instead of the same old install drivers option all i have is the option to install the software that lets macbook airs share cd/dvd drives... needless to say i got frustrated and to put it lightly pissed off...

unsure of wtf was going on i looked it up online and really couldnt find anyone with the same problem, i found a web page saying that i should have the windows auto update itself and that should fix the problem. it did not. i dont know what the hell is going on. and im about this close to reinstalling windows xp and telling windows 7 to go **** itself...

OS X :: Printer Drivers And Snow Leopard - Possible General Workaround

Sep 10, 2009

If drivers for your printer do not show up in Snow Leopard, and there is no option for a generic driver (that you can use until original ones arrive), then you might be in luck if you've got your Leopard disc handy. Insert your Leopard disc, and then click on Optional Installs. Then in the next window you might have to click on Optional Installs again. From the new Window, select Printer drivers. Select the appropriate brand, and then install. So really, we're trying to use Leopard drivers here, moved from your Leopard disc onto Snow Leopard. If you're in luck, usable drivers might show up in your System Preferences, or perhaps a generic driver that will work.

OS X :: Apple Releases New HP Printer Drivers For Snow Leopard

Sep 22, 2009

Apple this week released new drivers for HP printers in its latest operating system, Mac OS X 10.6 Snow Leopard. The file, labeled version 2.2., is a 383MB download available from Apple. A number of HP printers, including Photosmart, OfficeJet, DeskJet and LaserJet models, are affected by the driver update. A complete list with numerous HP printers is listed on Apple's Web site. The update requires Mac OS X 10.6.1 or later.

Since the release of Snow Leopard, Apple has advertised new printer-related features in the operating system upgrade. Apple's Software Update will automatically provide you with third-party printer software and updates, "Nearby Printers" is a list of available printers that will appear right inside your printer dialog box, and you can simply connect a USB printer and the print queue will be automatically created.

Windows On Mac :: Snow Leopard Bootcamp Drivers Needed?

Nov 5, 2009

I have a new 21.5 Imac (with the ATI Radeon HD 4670) on which I have just installed Windows 7 32 bit version. Everything worked great and upon starting Windows 7 for the first time my network is working, the ATI 4670 drivers seem to be installed automatically and also sound drivers seem to be there, everything of this Windows 7 did automatically. So my question is: why do I need the Bootcamp drivers from the Snow Leopard disk, what extra value will they provide? Can it hurt my computer all togehter if I skip the drivers from the Snow Leopard disk? will it perhaps have drivers other than above that are absolutely needed for the system to function properly?
