I have pretty weak reception with my APE card so I�d like to try a USB dongle. I have checked the offerings from Linksys and Netgear but none of them provide OS X support. Question is: Do I really need dedicated drivers or does OSX come with some that will work (like ndiswrapper on nixes)?

View 7 Replies View RelatedWhy does the eject key only work for whatever's in the SuperDrive? I mean really, a key dedicated just to ejecting a CD? How does that make sense? I eject my iPhone 10x as much as I eject something out of the SuperDrive. What I think they should do is have the eject key bring up a menu of all drives that can be ejected, along with an eject all option. It's a huge pain going to the Finder, ejecting my externals, then going to iTunes to eject the iPod and iPhone.

View 9 Replies View RelatedWhat do you think the chances are? I see a lot of talk about the possibility of an i3 in the base model 13". Is it wrong of me to find that absolutely absurd as you can pick up a PC with i5 for ~�500. Should we not be expecting AT LEAST i5 with perhaps BTO for i7? Now that would give the MBP 13" the 'Pro' title it acclaims (along with other aspects of course). Also, how about the current outlook for dedicated graphics in any of the new models? For it to be worth adding a dedicated GPU it must be a worthy leap ahead of the integrated GPU in sandy bridge, is that sort of performance increase do-able in a laptop?
FYI i'm a current PC owner looking to make the big switch to accompany my Music Production degree at university, I've been holding out for a new MBP for some time now. I really hope it's worth the wait. And as for hoping for dedicated graphics, i'm a keen gamer and would very much like to be able to use one computer for everything and ditch my old desktop.
This is my first post to peripherals (I'm usually at the Apple TV Forums)--and I was wondering if anyone knows of a decent, dedicated photo scanner that's Mac compatible. Hammacher has one that is a good example of what I'm looking for [URL] but their specs say that it requires Windoze XP or Vista. Is there such a thing for the Mac? I'd like to avoid a flatbed scanner, not to mention creating a Windows partition just for my photo scanning project, if at all possible.

It appears to have moderate yellowing on the bottom 1/3 of the screen so thinking about returning it today when I go to the Apple Store for my broken iphone. I was thinking about jumping to the 21.5 with the 1TB drive and dedicated graphics card if I do exchange. Is it worth the jump?

I recently installed the 64 bit Windows 7 Ultimate operating system onto my MacBook Pro 13 inch. I have the most basic Macbook Pro 13 inch with nothing fancy added. Whenever I load up the Windows 7 OS on my Macbook, it never utilizes or even realizes that I have the NVIDIA graphics card in my laptop. It instead believes I have some integrated graphics card that cannot even run the most basic of PC games. I know my laptop can run these games because on OSX it runs multiple games with higher requirements than these games I am trying to run on Windows.
Basic question: How do I get bootcamp or whatever else to make Windows 7 realize I have a NVIDIA card and drivers. Sorry if I am coming off as stupid or confusing.
I would like to have two firewire devices connected to my MBP but would prefer not to share bandwidth. If I purchased a firewire express card would that provide me with a 2nd dedicated firewire bus. It seems based the express 34 bus architecture that this would work however.
View 5 Replies View RelatedSo i am trying to change my apple boot camp drivers to nvidia's, but i think i must have downloaded the wrong ones, or done something wrong. I tried to install Geforce/Ion driver release 192.62, (from nvidia's site, i selected gefore 8 series) and when i ran the setup it said: 'nvidia setup program could not locate any drivers that are compatible with your hardware' . My questions are:
� Which drivers should i download? a link would be great.
� Are there any pre-requisites i must do, such as install version 170 first?
I am using an iMac 24" with 4gb ram, 500gb 5400 rpm HDD, and 8800 GS 512mb.
The reason I am trying this, is because when i play some online games, i often get bad lag spikes, but that chat is still running. Someone recommended me to 'update my drivers'.
I just installed a Seagate 500gb, 7200rpm hard drive in my 13" MBP that was updated to EFI Firmware Update 1.7. Clean install of OS X and iLife '09 & iWork '09 went fast. It's quite and fast compared to my old Samsung 500gb, 5400rpm hard drive. It was worth the $120 I spent on it!
View 12 Replies View RelatedI have a Macbook plastic, 2.4 GHz intel core 2 Duo with 2 GB of ram.My Mac is currently running on OS X, i used to have a 40 gig partition Windows XP, a couple of friends of mine where talking about how much they liked Windows 7 and finally i had had enough blue screens to say, sure ill switch, why not?... assuming it would not take longer then lets say a day at most, i set off on my quest.
FWI, im running an older model Macbook that was bought refurbished (not sure if that has anything to do with my problem). anyway i removed my previous partition, then using Boot Camp Assistant i repartitioned a 40 gig section for Windows 7. Then ran the installer. I have a copy of Windows 7 ultimate 86x. The Windows boot screen turned up, i had to reformat the partition so that i could install, no problems there. after all said and done the installation worked perfectly, up to a point... First problem that appeared was the lack of sound. i fixed that by downloading Realtek's High Def sound drivers.
Then it was the rest of the drivers for the macbook. heres where i run into my problem, i have the Mac OSX install discs 1 and 2. inserting the first disc the option of the auto run of the setup popped up i clicked run. and instead of the same old install drivers option all i have is the option to install the software that lets macbook airs share cd/dvd drives... needless to say i got frustrated and to put it lightly pissed off...
unsure of wtf was going on i looked it up online and really couldnt find anyone with the same problem, i found a web page saying that i should have the windows auto update itself and that should fix the problem. it did not. i dont know what the hell is going on. and im about this close to reinstalling windows xp and telling windows 7 to go **** itself...
Like two months ago, my MBP started to work really slow when not plugged to electricity, but as soon as I plug it in, my MBP works perfectly. I already sent it to apple for they to fix it, but they solved other issued except for that one. Please, any idea what could it be.

I made a mockup of what the MBP 13" would be like if Apple ditched the superdrive, used a bigger battery, and added a dedicated GPU:

I figure the larger battery would add another 5 hours to the current 10 hour battery life, totaling about 15 hours, although that could change with the addition of the more powerful GPU.

I have Windows 7 Professional 64bit running through parallels 5 and it seems to be missing alot of drivers (wireless most importantly, but also audio etc). Where can I get these, is it the same as bootcamp drivers( are they on one of the disks that come with macs?).
I've installed a legit copy of Windows XP, SP2. Nothing works, not my webcam, not my internet, not even the full resolution. The first time around that I did this, I had the DVD that came with my iMac, I installed the Windows drivers stuff off of it, and everything worked perfectly.
Can anyone point me in the direction of either a replacement for that DVD (.iso image or something?) or simply the required drivers that will let my iMac 8,1 connect to the web?
I boot camped my Macbook Unibody 13" (bought early 2009) with windows 7. However the bootcamp version was 2.0. I now cannot get drivers from the 3.0 bootcamp update.

I'll probably get a 750GB drive for boot, apps, and most files (leaning toward SpinPoint F1 750; the new 640GB WD also seems enticing).So, here's my Q: which would be a better setup for apps like Photoshop as well as the OS (I've read you can relocate the swap file?), performance-wise (both in terms of app speed, and keeping the OS from hanging on a busy disk) - using the slow stock 320GB as a more dedicated scratch disk (possibly just a partition on it, with other partitions for Windows), or using the free space on the faster, but non-dedicated, boot and storage disk?

I'm going to get another 8GB of RAM (I assume 10GB in matched pairs will still perform at full speed). My real dilemma is a Boot/Storage solution-I'm moving from a Dual 867 G4, so all my current drives, both internal and external are IDE, which basically means I'm starting over as far as internal drives goes. The G4 power supply gave out so I'm getting this external enclosure to put my old drives into for file recovery. As far as new drives go, I can't figure out what to do. I'll spare you my million iterations of drive configs I've sketched over the past two days.

I have just had to do a system reinstall on my iBook (G4 1.33MHz 512 RAM). I have updated Tiger to 10.4.11as it was available via 'software update'. I can't now print with my trusty Epson stylus color 740 or my Epson stylus photo 895.
When I go looking for drivers on the epson web site they seem to be for systems 7-9 for the 740 and for intel Macs running Tiger for the 895. Both of these printers worked fine with my previous version of Tiger.
I just purchased a new BENQ LCD monitor. The CD-ROM that it came with contain drivers that are for Windows XP or Vista operating systems. They all contain .exe files.I have a 15" MBPro, do I need to find a specific BENQ E2200HD driver to display my BENQ LCD monitor or does my MBPro already have a generic video driver that will work? I was looking on the web for a BENQ E2200HD driver that will install on OS X but so far I have been unsuccessful in locating one.

I know of the way to use image capture, preview and the printer browser. These do not allow you to use the scan to button. Is it possible to use scan to in lion?
