Are you seeing compatible results when running Geekbench?
I have 16GB installed on a 3.2GHz 8-core. 8 x 2GB using all 8 slots, but only seeing 3.5GB/s
Just want to hear some User Experiences with it so far Kinda more interested in the new graphics card performance...like what around what year of games can it play on the highest settings with great framerate? (speaking about the 13inch specifically)

Counter Strike Source will not be here all that soon so don't get your hopes up, they are redeveloping it, to run on a new engine. No point in porting the old engine when they will just have to do it again. Link:.....
Does anyone know how to fix this issue? I boot up steam and i go into preferences and test the mic it works perfectly then when i boot a game like team fortress the mic works for like 30 mins and stops, people have been saying that its a buzzing noise

Will games on Steam (such as Half Life 2, Counter-Strike, TF2, etc) run fine?Also, for music production apps like Pro Tools, will I experience any low performance, or chugginess? I'm not really up on Mac OS X, but with 4GB's on my current PC, I can record and produce around 8-9 tracks and plus with ease.

I just installed it today on my MBP (config is in my siggy), but I'm pretty disappointed because it's obviously not as smooth and fast as in my Bootcamp.I turned most of my settings to at least Med (and some to Low), turned off Antialiasing, but kept resolution of 1440x900, yet it's still laggy/choppy esp. when there's more people involved... (it was fine in Bootcamp on even better settings).I get like 20-25 fps in OS X, which pretty much sucks

Because of DirectX, games just seem to run better on my Windows side. Anyone planning on scrapping Windows for the Mac Steam client? It's nice to see more games coming to Mac but they still seem crippled by OpenGL.

I had a desktop that I would normally game with but now that my sister is using it for schoolwork, that's not possible. I never even thought about using my mbp for gaming, let alone a 13" model, but now I'm getting desperate. I don't plan on running anything that intense. I usually play some Team Fortress 2 and Counter-strike: Source. My main question is: for those of you that have had experience, which would be a better solution for me? Using Bootcamp and installing Windows XP or getting Steam for Mac? I'm not sure how the process goes for Bootcamp. I'm imagining you would have to dedicate some hard drive space. On the other hand, I've heard that Steam on Mac runs pretty slow compared to it's Windows counterpart. Anyone know if this is true? Appreciate the help.
View 24 Replies View RelatedThis doesn't have to do with OS X as much as it does my ISP (Comcast 15Mbps/3Mbps Down/Up). Comcast states you get speeds "Up to" those advertised which basically means you will never get those speeds but once in a blue moon it could happen.
I've been watching my Router activity for a few minutes (see Top graph of the attached image) and I never get near either of those advertised speeds as expected. I am downloading Xcode DMG from Apple and a few torrents are running with no bandwidth restrictions.
My question is currently I'm getting about 50% of my advertised bandwidth, if I reduced down to the 1.5 Mbps Comcast package would I probably still only get 50% of that bandwidth? I think I already know the answer but was curious what you guys thought.

Install goes fine, ive been formatting the drive as FAT.
Once XP has booted i put the mac install disc in to update drivers and what not, every time i do this i get the error 2869.
I also got this error when trying to install steam.
I am trying to install steam onto crossover.I download the steaminstall.msi file that downloads off of steam, but crossover will not let me open the file to get to the .exe what do I do from there?I think the rest of the process is self explanatory, but if you could post a step-by-step, it would be awesome
View 2 Replies View RelatedI've got an old (late 2006) Mac Pro Quad (2 x 2 x 2.66 gHz) Xeon 3GB RAM with a Nvidia 7300 GT (256 MB video ram) that is running out of steam (mostly when it comes to Flight Simulator FSX on the XP side). Still running OSX 10.4.11 but I could switch to 10.6.xxx if I have to So the question remains: Is there any good, simple, easy way to upgrade the graphics (512 MB at least) or do I have to buy a new Mac Pro?

Well now I can't play stagecraft 2 (like it ran good anyway), and get get on steam (like it ran good anyway). When trying to login to steam it prompts me that steam needs to self-update before launching. So I enter my name / password and nothing happens. I try to open vuze, a torrent program, doesn't even open. Safari works. What did I do? It seems it's not reading the admin permissions correctly. ITunes won't open either

I actually never used a tool to check bad sectors on a hdd but I decided to now since I just bought a couple external Hdds and am going to be using one for time machine.
What's the best software on a Mac I can use to check bad sectors on my external hdds.
And can they be fixed?
My tibook has been having kernel panics (Both with the polite message telling you to shut down your screen, and the one where a bunch of code rolls down the screen and it freezes). Also the computer sometimes just plain freezes sometimes and it also just shutsdown randomly. What could be the problem? i tried both sticks independently and it still happens, unless both the ram sticks are bad.How would i go about checking if my ram was within specs?
View 4 Replies View RelatedSo I have this weird occurrence when I open a Finder window and view files on one of my Mac Pro's internal harddrives.
A bunch of the Files and Folders have a Date Created of Dec 31, 1903 8:00PM.
The Date Modified is correct.
It's not every file/folder either. Mostly contained in one directory I have with client files in it.
I have:
- Reset PRAM
- Reset SMC
- Verified Permissions, Disks
- Deleted Finder's plist
So far, still happening.
Anyone have a clue as to what to check next?

I recently tried to transfer about 13,000 mp3s to my friends HDD and after about 1 hour the transfer stopped because one file was corrupt. This ruined the whole process.. Can anyone suggest a program that I can run on all the files on that HDD and verify if they are good files?
