My LED Cinema Display 24 inch Monitor gets very hot after working on it for more than 3 hours. It radiates so much heat that it is uncomfortable sitting in front of it. It is very hot to touch. But it does not seem to have any negative visual effects. Anyone else have this problem? Is there a way to measure the temp. of the monitor?
View 4 RepliesI've been using my black macbook for several years with both my Apple Cinema Display and Panasonic TV with the Apple mini-dvi to dvi adapter, but today when I tried to hook my macbook up with the tv it didn't work. The Tv just showed a black picture and nothing happend when I un- and replugged the cable. I tried it on my ACD as well and the colors wasn't right on it. Some colors wasn't showing, eg red. Green and blue was OK. I'm suspecting the adapter to be the problem, 'cause I've tried everything (also in preferences) and been using this method for years! Any thoughts on the problem? Should I buy a new adapter or try something else?
Connection methods;
TV = mini-dvi to dvi, and dvi to hdmi
ACD = mini-dvi to dvi and dvi directly to the ACD
I just got a new MacBook Pro and 24-inch LED Cinema Display. I was planning on using one of the USB ports on the back of the display to connect a 1 Tb WD My Book drive as Time Machine backup. I've managed the first backup and everything seemed to be working fine, but occasionally when I wake the computer from sleeping I get an error saying that I disconnected my drive without ejecting it. Nothing has been disconnected, so I'm worried that the USB ports don't stay powered on when monitor/computer sleep, or that there is some other issue using a USB peripheral that is for all intents and purposes plugged into another USB peripheral. Has anyone else had these issues? I'd rather keep things connected the way they are right now- I have 4-5 other external drives I need to access on a regular basis, so going directly into the USB on my MacBook isn't an appealing option.

View 6 Replies View RelatedI recently purchased a brand new 15" MacBook Pro to replace my old one. I was told when ordering it that I would be able to hook up two external monitors to it using the Matrox DualHead2Go hardware. So, I also bought a 27" Cinema Display (non-Thunderbolt since it wouldn't work with the DH2Go). However, when I contacted Matrox they said their products don't support screens as large as the 27" ACD. how I can hookup a 27" Apple Cinema Display at 2560x1440 and a Acer 22" monitor at 1685x1050 (or, anything less really) to my new MacBook Pro? I've looked around and haven't been able to find a good answer.

His friend told him it was not possible to connect it, but I am not certain if this information is correct. He asked me to help advise him on this, but unfortunately I don't know enough about Apple hardware to give him the information he is looking for. I am wondering if anyone happens to know the answer on this.

View 5 Replies View RelatedI'm deciding to buy myself a new mac pro coming around Jan-Feb and since mac pro's cost sooo much I'm cutting money on every corner; from buying only on amazon to using magazine coupons. The biggest money waster in my opinion is the 22' Led Cinema display apple sells. It costs around 900$ to buy an apple display which hasn't been updated for 3+ years when new Dell monitors of the same size (with camera installed and quality optional speakers) cost roughly about 400 max? I know apple displays are premium but extra 500 bucks is ridiculous.

I have the unibody macbook pro, and so I've been reading through reviews now for a week ... my biggest concern is the dual-link dvi adapter... I still see posts (August or September 2010) with people experiencing issues, even with the firmware 1.3!I wanted to ask you people if I should go for it or dig the 27 inch even though it's glossy... I've hooked up my 30" Apple Cinema Display to the new iMac 27" and the highest resolution I'm getting as an option is 1280x800... The iMac correctly detects the ACD as a Cinema HD display but limits my resolution. Why oh why?!
I own 23 and 30" Cinema Displays. I like the 23 because everything is larger and easier to read than in the 30". I mostly work in Logic and love that I see lots of things on the 30" but the 23" is much easier on my eyes.Is there such a thing as a display with 2560x1600 (like the 30" Apple) but that is LARGER than a 30 inch so I can see everything bigger in Logic??? Maybe a 34 or 37"? Did a search but haven't come up with anything other than other 30" displays.

I am in love with the 30" cinema display, but according to technical support today, my setup is not compatible (supposedly, but the person on the phone didn't sound to sure). I have a mini DVI, but the 30" requires a dual DVI. I think the 23" display requires DVI, which I can attain with an adapter. Does anyone have suggestions for what I can use with my computer? The bigger the better for me. Also what do you think of the older (plastic case) apple displays?
View 1 Replies View RelatedPurchased a brand new 27" i7 imac a few weeks ago, display is awesome!!! I was using my old 28" LCD monitor from my PC and running dual displays on the iMac. The 28" LCD monitor annoyed me a bit because i could not get the same color/crispness/brightness that i got from the iMac. ( also it has a Matt screen and i am more into the glossy screens ) So i found a used 24" cinema display locally. Paid 600.00 and it came with 2 yrs of AppleCare. It is only 7 months old ( still have 5 months under orignal warranty ) Got home, hooked it up and it had a "hint" of yellowness to it, It wasn't a exact image of my iMacs display...I tried to calibrate it also, but it still had just a HINT of yellowness....Nothing at all major, but enough for me to be annoyed with it.

I am thinking of updating my home studio setup which is currently running a Macbook pro 13" 2.26 with 4gb of ram. I was first thinking of upgrading to an iMac with a 3.06Ghz processor and 27" display. However, I now think I might be ok staying with my MacBook and upgrading to one of the two displays;- The 30" Cinema display- Or the 24" Cinema LED displayAt nearly half the price I am leaning towards the 24" display. I am using logic and ableton. What does everyone think and anyone had any experiences running logic and or ableton with a MacBook and display.
View 4 Replies View RelatedAs you can tell by the thread title I've got one of the latest model iMacs and I'm running an LED Cinema Display as a second monitor. When it gets to the late hours I like to watch some movies on the Mac so I figured the Cinema Display would be a nice addition to do the job.
Now here's my issue: if it's late and I'm watching movies I tend to not have any lights on, but having one of the displays on means having both of them on, what I'm wondering is if it's possible to sleep one display while allowing the other to stay active so I can watch the movie without the light from the other one distracting

Up till last week everything was fine, I could run 'Second Life', photoshop, email, a browser, download stuff, play Itunes AND watch a movie all at once without any trouble.
But recently the computer has gone a bit weird.
It started getting very hot, much slower and turning itself off.
had to get a dvi to make my older screen work. now when I close the powerbook. and start up it defaults to my power book. will not turn on my screen. Called Apple and did the display screen mode and it can not find it? but will work about every other week?
View 6 Replies View RelatedI have a fresh install of Windows XP, service pack 2 on a boot camp partition on my macbook (13" first gen aluminum case) and a Apple LED Cinema Display attached to the mini display port.
I can't seem to make the Cinema Display the primary display (the "Use this device as the primary monitor" checkbox is always greyed out in the Display Property Settings tab). I also can't shut the macbook lid and continue to use it closed (with kb, mouse and monitor attached) like I would when booting OSX.
Is there some other way to make the Cinema Display the primary monitor, so I can leave the macbook closed when booting into Windows?
Right now i'm using Apple Cinema Display 20" that i bought at the end of 2005. You know, the aluminum one. But i've taken interest in one of those LED Displays, especially the 24"...
Now, i've read that the LED Display uses glossy display compared to the Cinema Display? Also, it's completely my own opinion, but the older Cinema Display seems to be looking more nice also having one-coloured.
The technical specifications are in favour of LED Display of course, but taking into account the glossy display, less attractive design and so on... Which one would you get?
As said, my current set up is an HDMI - DVI cable (HDMI to monitor and DVI to adapter) and my DVI - mini DisplayPort adapter, everything is connected fine but when I turn on the monitor, it says cable not found... and nothing is displayed on the screen but on the Macbook side of things, it sees the monitor is connected (I can extend the screen and leave the screen) but other than that, it appears I cannot get an image on the monitor, pressing every button on the monitor does not work either.
Any other information that may seem necessary, let me know. I tried clearing my PRAM and clearing the power and such but nothing seems to work.
On Spec in support only MacBook, MacBook Air, and MacBook Pro systems with Mini DisplayPort can we use it with our mac pro

My question is, how do you guys adjust the brightness of the display? Is it always just left at max brightness? Does the LED Cinema retain the display brightness of the last time it was used... for example, if I hooked up a Macbook Pro to it first, turn the brightness down to halfway, and then hooked up my PC, would the brightness then be at half instead of full?
